I pretty much agree with you. I think it goes further though. Trump now looks like "The boy who called wolf" too often: People are tired of hearing him try to scare them into voting his way. Right now, 80-odd days out I think Trump is really, seriously done. And he looks tired and bored with the whole thing.

First things first. Under the Biden Harris administration. Our 401k is up 45%. My student loan debt has gone from $300 a month to $115 principal pay off payments. My husband was sick with cancer and the medical debt was crushing. It no longer effects our credit and we now have the. ability to take out an equity loan to finally pay off that balance. I'm sorry that other's haven't benefitted but I a have. I will also be voting to protect ALL women and families to make their own choices for their own medical decisions.

Trump's messages of hate, anger, and spite work for perhaps 40% of the voters nationwide. I can sense more and more people rather listen to their better angels.

Choosing shapiro could have lost Harris the youth vote, and the vote of many progressives because he's Jewish and it would have looked like she was following the same old government line with Israel instead of being sympathetic to Palestinians. The choice she made casta a wider net and let her connect with a larger group. It was a smart move, to be seen as less establishment. Thatwas Biden's way. Harris wants to be seen as the choice of the future, not the same old thing.
Perhaps Mr. Zakaria should consider that.

As a former journalist, disappointed my former brothers and sisters in the profession have taken the Trump-Vance line that Harris has not sat down your press interviews and issued policy papers. First of all, you have fallen for the Republican's talking points (no press interviews. It's not even Aug. 15, hasn't even been a month that she became the nominee, and the DNC hasn't happened yet). Second, how well did all those Hillary Clinton policy papers, as Zakaria pointed out, in 2016 help her? Even FDR didn't tell the public or the press what he would do after attaining office in 1933.
