    Another great video! If you like endless glide speed and efficiency go high aspect. The low drag of wing like the Moses W1000 makes this 950sqcm wing glide forever and pump so easily it has about the same low end as the Moses W1100 with 2100sqcm .

      For sure Ozoneflysurfer, The 1000 is a blast. Crazy fast. It can be a bit twitchy in inconsistent swell/current compared to some other high aspect models though. More of a swell cruizer or speed machine than a swell ripper in terms of turns IMHO. Not sure I can agree with the 1000 vs 1100 having the same low end. Perhaps because I'm 195 lbs. I get the 1100 going in as little as 10-12 knots with the right sail, the 1000 I tend to need 16+ with the same sail. Helps if you have a board large enough to build some planning speed rather than something that needs to takeoff immediately.

      @@MACkiteboarding yeah they are both great wings and the W1100 is still technically considered mid to high aspect right? True the 1000 requires more aggressive and different pumping technique downwind to develop speed but if you get a nice puff it also glides longer and pulls through the lulls much better due to low drag vs the 1100 which can stall out. It took me about 30hrs on the 1000 to really dial it in and get similiar low end to the 1100 which for me at 185lb is 8-10 knots with 6M wing. Btw i found if you want to make the 1000 more surfy the S450 does that and the S400 stab makes the W1100 more loose and less draggy vs the S450. Fun times 🤙

      @@ozoneflysurfer9491 100% agree. I generally ride it on the 400 or 425 so maybe I'll give the 450 a go. I guess generally i don't ride big thick stabs on a thin, high aspect wing like the 1000 that but it could expand the range. I'd put the 1100 in the mid-high aspect crowd too, certainly not a full high aspect but it is quite fast and fun for such a large wing.

      Good Catch Jodee. Not Aluula though.

    Hey Tucker, if you've got some foil experience from kiting and wake foiling - would you say you could buy/use a high aspect foil straight away for wingfoiling?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I'd say you certainly can. However, you might find it a little more challenging at first. You might want to avoid the super high aspect models meant mostly for racing. Aspect 8+ or so

    Hey Tucker. Nice review.
    I would you like to know what you think about this high aspect ratio wing phantom for a kite foil in wave ? Is it better than 633?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Leonardo, It depends on the type of performance you want but generally I prefer the 633 style design with 325 stab for kite wave performance. They have a tighter arc and more responsive roll action that makes them more lively in critical turns. If you are looking just to glide on the wave with no kite power, perhaps in open water swell then the higher aspect designs will be superior for that situation.

    Seems there is no advantage of low aspect, so why did Slingy just release that one? High aspect had all the advantages in the review. But that F-One is perhaps not really high aspect but rather medium.

      Hi Tomas,
      It's all relative I guess. For the Phantom, I'd say it's kind of mid-high in terms of hydrofoils for boardsports. Not super high like a 10+ aspect outlier but certainly higher than average in the market today. If we are talking about airplanes and gliders, it would be a rather low aspect but I'm not sure that helps us in this discussion since they are flying through a different medium.

      This is simply because slingshot like to deal in large area wings. To get 2371cm area out of a high aspect design it would need to be well over a metre wide. The slingshot infinity 99 is, shockingly, 99cm wide. Remember that not everyone is the perfect 75kg rider, with the perfect break on their back door. A man my size (197cm tall, ~100kg) has no chance of getting a 1100cm2 (like the moses W1000, also 1 metre wide) wing flying in marginal conditions. Its just not going to happen. You need exponentially more area to overcome your own body weight and the surface drag of the bigger board that you will almost certainly be standing on.

      @@AngusMcIntyre Great discussion Angus. For sure every person has their own needs based on their weight, riding conditions, riding style, and ability. Hence, the massive amount of sizes and shapes in the industry today. I'm no lightweight either at 91kg but I can ride the W1000 starting at about 15 knots with a 6m or larger wing. It's not a flavor for everyone and I find I prefer the Phantom 1280, Kujjira 1210, and SABfoil (Moses) 950. However, if you are a speed freak the 1000 has an amazing range and excellent glide for powerful offshore waves. For maximum low end I find the Moses 1100 (2100cmsq) has the best results for me personally. I never ride anything larger than that except for testing purposes. They will put you on foil easier but not necessarily sooner if you have a good pumping technique. The larger, thicker wings are simply too slow and don't generate enough apparent wind and glide for my needs. That being said, lots of people enjoy them for learning or heavier riders.
