hmmm not gonna lie. sometimes i forget how good my work is compared to some people, since so often you see these masterpieces in media. But works like this remind me that you don't need to be perfect or some kind of master to be proud of your work and treat it as a proffessional piece. well, pan pastels are lovely to use aren't they.

I just recently discovered Pastel pens and Pan pastel after ! So happy i found such a Great médium and watching all these great videos online It is so beautiful , even know I'm not an artist yet lots of things to learn with such a Great product as pan pastels might be able to do something nice! Very nice Julia thank you for the demo. I just started working with pastel pencils and pan pastel. It's a pitty that there's no list of materials and colors used. Hopefully there's more coming. Love it!!🤫🙏

You have replied to all the questions of wanting the colors, that we must watch other videos of yours.
That’s all well and good…but a lot of us , do not have time to search or wait for other videos you will record.
I do not know wich colors I have used in this portrait, thats why I can't tell you and said please watch other video's. In the new videos I filmed the tray so you can see what I do with colors and color mixing 😉

Thank you for posting such a wonderful portrait. I use pans & other pastels haven’t done much in portraits . My daughter has recently married I have some very lovely photos of her. I will give it a go .
Colours please and what pencils do you use
Ik word helemaal enthousiast van panpastel. Ik heb net je boek tekentechnieken gekocht en een grote doos polychrome potloden. Nu twijfel ik of ik nu pastelpotloden of panpastel zal kopen.
Ja dat snap ik beide technieken erg leuk maar ook erg verschillend. Zou eerst ervaring op doen met kleurpotloden als je daar net mee bezig bent.

Hey, I really enjoy working with the soft tools, and you can find them on the same website where you can buy your PanPastel colors. On panpastel.com, you can find a store location for the USA.

Derwent pastel pencil
Hallo Julia, welk merk witte potlood gebruik je aan het eind van de tutorial (wit lijntje net onder de wenkbrauwen). Mijn witte potloden zijn niet zo duidelijk als ik er aan het eind nog overheen ga. En heb je toevallig nog de originele foto om te vergelijken.
Het wittr poylood wat ik als laatste gebruik is vaak Caran D'Ache Chinese White pastel potlood. Hetvis een copyright free foto van pixabay zoek op jonge vrouw, girl dan zal het tegen komen ;-)
What paper is this done on and can you use pastel pencils on it
Pastel mat paper from clairefonteine and yes you can work with pastel pencils on this surface.
Also with regular colourpencils in a other project ;-)
Do you use a fixative or how do you finish it off
On Pastelmat I don't use fixative on ordinary pastelpaper you can use fixative.
Hi Julia, beautiful lady, I really enjoy this work! But I think it needs more shadow in the nose area. Especially on the right side, if the light is unto the front of the face or the left. Just a little, to define the contour of the nose. But I loved it. It's another way to take advantage of soft tools, really useful! Thanks!

Nice to hear, lots of fun with panpastels
This is not a workshop. This is watchingcthe artist. She should be discussing color mixing, light application of the panpastel, and layering. I don’t know what this is, but there are no lessons learned here. It’s like listeming to a singer and expecting to sing like that without understanding the vocal mechanics of how the sound resonates out and knowing how to achieve proper breath support.

I mix the colours with my basic set and burnt sienna 740.5

What is the point of just watching you?
You don't need to watch ;-) the point to watch how I do it is how I create a portrait with PanPastel and how you apply it. That you can layer it up to create a portrait. This was one of my first videos. I have many other videos with or with out comment in the video. Just to inspire
This is beautiful but wish you showed what each color was you were using.

To be honest i dont watch you anymore because you dont teach people anything.People cant learn whe the dont tell them what pencils you are useing and are comletely silent. I dont think you are doing it for our beniffit. your paintings are greatbut if we are going to sit all this which is great. yet what do we learn.
To be honest I like to share my work to inspire and there are lots of videos on my channel with extras, like sound and product I have used. So look around in my videos and enjoy. By the way tomorow there is a new video available ;-) you might like it.
