I'd be careful with vendor gifts, they were added with a dlc that's in the ultimate version of the game you are playing, they give your companions approval but if you give them too much approval, too quickly and too early in the game it can cause issues. The game is a bit stingy with approval points and it's quite easy to miss out on companion content by simply not getting enough approval, i'd recommend using the small gifts from time to time after certain ingame milestones.
No we are like "You are not selling enough" Unless you are keeping something good for when a party member ranks up sell all that stuff. Also Sten is a two handed guy not main hand and shield.
I am HERE for Bodahn's rumor mill; also just found your page and am following along! I"m replaying some of the newer games and your playthrough is a fantastic way to remind myself of the OG story!
Hearing your first impressions on the companions is so neat! This series is all about the friends you make and has a very special cast of characters, so seeing someone new interacting with them and enjoying it is just the best. I was always partial to Sten and Morrigan, they're so interesting and well written.
You know, when the dog barks it usually means there's an interaction with him. a small cutscene with the dog and one of your party members. every party member you get has at least one scene with him you can trigger this way. talk to the dog, exhaust the scenes and he should stop barking. also for the love of god use your injury kits
If you want More Duncan, i highly recommend "The Calling" it's a Dragon Age novel. It's technically a sequel to "The Stolen Throne" , another Dragon Age novel, but it's very forgiving. Lots of Duncan in The Calling and he's GREAT . The audiobooks are lit af
Yep, your reactoin to Leliana's lockpicking was amazing! I never actually recruited Sten. I know his entire story now, but back then I thought 'This man murdered entire families, including children; why would I want to free him?' and left him to his fate.
Honestly I was so happy when I found out she can lock pick, literally an amazing day aha And tbf regarding Sten, I felt super conflicted freeing him because I wasn't sure at first but I kinda love his character now 🙃
@@kiki_maliki "I can do that for you," she says and changes your life. Of course, there are all the times she *can't* do it for you, haha. :D And yeah, my official worldstate has no Sten but I can see that he's an interesting character once you get to know him. Alas, no Sten in my worldstate!
Watching you cheer upon learning Leliana can pick locks is so cute! For a devout woman, she's got some dark talents ;) -*Listens to refugees venting their frustrations* "Ohhh, y'know what, maybe I will be a villain!" Damn, she already gave up on them. RIP to the people who've already lost everything, you've annoyed the main character too. -"Dwarven armor? Ooo, I'm excited for a Dwarf!" Geez. We'll see. If your reactions to Cullen and Sten are anything to go by, I'm not sure how excited you'll be when you meet the Dwarven companion. -"Enchantment!" *Smiles* Aww I'm glad you find Sandal charming. He's a sweet kid
As a mage I would advise not running into the middle of things when enemies are still at full health but standing back as Morrigan does. Your robes mean your character is squishy especially early on.
Your shock and joy when Leliana opened your first locked chest was so funny and sweet, lmao. Just discovered your channel/playthrough and can’t wait to watch more!
You have to explore everywhere and talk to everyone or you will miss things. Make sure to go to the edges of the maps as enemies don't show at a distance. You were probably about 10 steps short of seeing the third bandit group when you turned around. The first group you killed were not bandits but refugees who hoped to get the bounty. What a character is can be seen when you mouse over them. White names mean easy to kill and darker coloured names are harder. Lock picking is a skill with 4 levels so Liliana starts off with low skill as a rogue and will be able to open more chests as you give her more skill. And yes light armour like leather for rouges, heavy armour for warriors.
Honestly, same, I love blood magic or at least the concept of it. It's probably very visceral and grizzly irl but the very concept of it is very fascinating to me. I even looked for it in BG3 lol, "like where are the blood themed spells here?" I actually just downloaded a mod with Blood Magic spells in BG3. It's very hard to balance though on like a first playthrough because you use your health instead of you mana to cast spells so you have to make sure that you're kinda free from harm all the time lol. Regarding the tactics, basically the left side are the "conditions" and the right side are the skills and spells that your companion will use automatically when that certain condition is met. Like with the "Self: Surrounded by at least two enemies" condition; if two or more enemies target and surround Morrigan, she'll automatically cast Mind Blast. You can even set a lot in conditions with "Self" (Self means whoever tactics menu you are selecting) or even target specific characters like your character or other companions. Especially if you're gonna be a blood mage, I think it would be best to make sure you don't get hit or attract enemies.
Unfortunate that the camp glitched out the first time you saw it. 🤣 Glad to see you found Leliana. I missed her completely in my first and second playthroughs.
@@kiki_maliki Thankfully, Sten is right out in the open, locked up between you and the path out of town! I just didn't notice that there was an entire tavern that you can enter in Lothering. x_x
That means you never entered the Lothering tavern at all in your first AND second play through, even though it's marked on the map? How do you miss that?
That's nothing. This was the very first RPG I ever played and did not realise you could talk to your companions while in camp. I made it all the way to the end (just before the final battle) only to realise, through dialogue with another character, that I was able to romance my companions. I think the dialogue was something along the lines of "I am surprised you would suggest this. I was under the impression that you and _____ were romantically involved" and I was like "I CAN ROMANCE PEOPLE?!?" this whole time thirsting and not even realising I can do something about it. I had to restart the entire game at that point... all those hours I spent playing only to have to restart it all 🥲
The Qunaris role is like that of muslims in medieval Europe (outside force that was crusaded against) but their philosophy and social structure is more similar to the "perfect" society plato advocated for in his book
I am so excited for you to experience these games and get "up to date" for the new game. This is probably my favorite series ever🎉. There are books, comics, and and "anime" on Netflix if you desire/decide to watch them, but they are not necessary to play anything. It's just fun and connective information. (I hope you experience no bugs throughout your playthrough.🙏🏼)
You have to wander around more on the maps to look everywhere. Characters vision is such you need to be closer to objects for them to appear on the screen.
Your so fun to watch 😂 humor and your curiosity in the lore- just finished DA:Inquisition a sequel to DA1 and 2 and neededtime to watch a gameplay for the lore, u playing this game thus far has been jovial ❤
Do you have the 4 gb patch? That should help your game -unless you added some texture mods and they are glitching out, as camp should not look like that.
Lothering tavern: Barlin wants poison. Blackstone Irregular has a series of quests, buy and make spring traps for Allison. More locked chests around Lothering and in it's Chantry. Loot some more bodies, quest item remains. Leliana can pickpocket if you wish. The warriors and rogues need a melee and a ranged weapon both. Two weapon slots for this reason. Barlin is a good merchant.
Money glitch is a real time saver, but it's a type of gameplay that isn't for everyone. Would understand if you stay away from it. Could be worth it in future playthroughs however :)
Sorry, but Duncan is very dead. In this game, the 'they're not dead until you see them get killed' rule doesn't apply. 😔 As for mods, you should use Vortex from Nexusmods, very, very easy to set up and manage mods. Nexus Mods is the go-to for mods. I would suggest the bag of holding mod (to help with the tiny inventory problem) and the chest mod that will allow any character to bash open chests when you're rogue cannot pick the lock.
😢 makes me so sad that he's gone, he will be missed. A lot of people don't want me using the bash open chests mod because they think it's cheating so I'll sway away from that one but the extra storage will be super helpful in the long run ☺️
@kiki_maliki yeah.. every time I play, even though I know it is coming, I still get sad and angry. Killing Logain, Howe and all of his flunkies helps a lot.
please please please learn to use space-bar pauze in combat. Now you're wasting precious time running around not doing anything. The pauze allows you to give tactical orders to your character AND your companions, instead of just letting them run around on auto. And please pretty please check your companions skills before equipping them. For example equipping morrigan with a bow while she's a mage that already does ranged damage with her staff is utterly pointless. Also her tactics are not set to use that bow. On the other hand leliana is a trained rogue and archer, yet you equip her twice with daggers. And her tactics are set for using a bow. Again all pretty pointless and counter productive. The second set of weapons is mostly meant to allow someone use melee weapons AND ranged weapons, and to allow them to switch between. Or for a mage you could equip two staffs each with very specific bonusses, like one staff that increases fire damage to use when blasting fire spells, and one staff that increases cold damage when casting frost spells. But equipping the same weapons twice on a character is, again, utterly pointless. Also fighters like leliana and alistar can use a weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, or two daggers one in each hand. You could give leliana one dagger in each hand... An rpg requires some tactical thought and learning about and use of characters'/companions' class and skills. Otherwise you'll end up dying in almost every serious combat encounter... You really should figure out the character equipment screens and character tactics screens before continuing with the game.
