  • In this video, I discuss three guitars that as of Spring 2024, are incredibly undervalued. There's three guitars I cover:
    1. Gibson Les Paul Classics from the mid-90s to the mid-2000's (Grab the Premium Plus for the nice top and gold hardware)
    2. Fender American Strats from the late 90s to the mid-2000's (HH/HSS/SSS - Many choices)
    3. PRS Standard 22s, Standard 24s, and Swamp Ash Specials from the late 90s through the mid-2000's (anything made from one type of wood only, no maple tops IMO)

Don’t say they’re undervalued. That just gives sellers the incentive to charge more. They are “properly priced,” compared to the overvalued, overpriced ones.

I have a 2006 PRS Corvette Standard 22 that I got new. It was my only guitar for many years. Probably a thousand sessions with that guitar. I still have the Dragon II pickups in it with the 5-way rotary switch. You have me itching to throw a set of Lollar Imperials in there.

Good video. I will though disagree about the PRS. I had a standard 22 a few years ago and it was a very dark sounding guitar. The maple tops opens up the sound so much. The newer core McCarty 594 sounds and plays so much better, with a nitro finish. Crazy expensive but fantastic. For a bargain PRS I would suggest an old McCarty from ‘94 on. I’ve had a bunch and they were all great. A thicker mahogany body and maple top make these so sweet.

The crimson Standard 22 is beautiful, for sure! Every single PRS I've picked up has been well-made and played very well. Agree that I've never liked the sound of ANY stock PRS with PRS pickups, though, which is probably the only reason I own a modified Fender Custom Shop 52RI Thin Skin Telecaster, a truly wonderful '63 Strat copy (Danocaster), 2 LP style Epiphones (one humbucker, one P90) and a Harley Benton LP Jr P90 type-thing but no PRS. I was fine with having to replace the pickups, ALL of the electronics and the tuners on a $182 Harley Benton, and it turned out incredibly well for ~ $400 total. Not sure I would be as enthusiastic about buying a > $1500 guitar with pickups I don't like and modifying it. At least now I know more about the potential of a good PRS - thanks.

Have a 2006 core single-Cut. It's a bit heavier and the sound reflects that. One piece of Mahogany. Rosewood fretboard. I kinda agree. Most of the pickups I can do without. But I have touched on a few that I really like as stock. My 2006 I spoke of has PRS 6's in both neck & bridge and they are very good. Versatile with the coil splitter. The 85/15 is a great PRS pick-up also. But I hear ya. Seymour is a specialist at pickups. Tough to beat that. 4000-5000 for cust 22 or 24 or 24-08.
But thinking of grabbing a strat to go along with that great advice man thx. Been dying for a Floyd rose guitar. Maybe I'll try for one of those Strats you mentioned and try a Floyd on it. Since they are solid. I was around back then. You are correct. Nice work thank you!

Don't know how many pieces the body has perhaps 3 or more. It plays like a 😈 Devil. It just needed a bit of TLC. Have fun. John.

These guitars are nice (I even have a 97 strat and mid 2000 LP) and no offense, but you obviously have not seen the latest Firefly strats that came out in 2023.
    Now that is real value.
The specs are just insane for the money i.e... locking tuners, bone nut, roasted Canadian maple neck, stainless steel frets, alnico five pups, and Roasted Ash Bodies all in many different colors or even in a relic white, black or red color. All for just $159.00 to $179.00 (I got mine for $139.00 each plus shipping during Xmas).
I don't mean to gush but I am in awe of these guitars...I have been a professional guitar player for over forty years and I have many, many Fender strats as well as quite a few Gibson LP's and although I don't care much for the C necks on these Stratocaster Fireflys (I like soft V, Oval C or medium C) for the most part (except for the C neck) they look good, feel good and sound good and IMO, they stand up against any and all of my guitars including my expensive sig. strats. I would go as far to say that they are 85% better than most name brands I have played recently. That's just sad.
Currently I have six Firefly guitars (2-strats, 2- LP's, 1-SG and 1- ES-335 style) and their combined cost is less than a brand new made in Mexico Fender Player Plus Stratocaster at $999.00. YIKES!!! I still Love Fender and Gibson guitars but c'mon, in todays market the price of guitars from both of these manufacturers (IMO) is way, way out of line compared with many of the other off brands that are available from Mexico or China.
If you haven't played one of these guitars you are missing out on the absolute best value out their! Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.

I'll throw out the early 2000's Gibson Faded series. In general I have played a lot of killer Gibson guitars from 02-07ish and the faded series in particular tend to weigh nothing, be super cheap, and feel good if they're properly set up. HUGE necks though if that isn't your thing.
There were also a bunch of limited runs of Gibson with unusual specs in the mid 2000's. They're not cheap cheap, but but they're sometimes cheaper alternatives to custom shop models if you're looking for something specific.

    • @eldoradoguitars6456
      @eldoradoguitars6456  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The faded series are also a GREAT deal. They are a little more than the Classics... maybe mid $2000's? But still a great deal. I used to own one, they punch way above their weight class.

Although I do agree that prices on R9's are too high, they are a BETTER instrument than a USA model. I sold Gibson in the late 90's early 2000s. I owned a premium plus Classic that had a better top than several of the 10 or so Custom Shop models I have owned. Sometimes you have to pay for better quality. Murphy Labs are WAY over priced. But my two R9's are off the charts the best Les Pauls I have owned and I have owned probably close to 30 plus Gibsons going back to the early 80's. Plus you usually get most of your investment back when you sell them. Much more than a Fender or PRS

I disagree with your Gibson statement. They are all overvalued. Unethical company, poor quality control/consistency, cash-grabbing every single place you look with them.
Fender continues to be fantastic and far more versatile and affordable than a Gibson. Easier to play too. I just got my dad's (rest in peace) 2007 American Ultra and it is FANTASTIC to me. The Atomic humbucker and their single-coil noiseless paired with it. I love it so much.
I second the PRS guitar comment too, however I believe this applies to all of their guitars minus the Private Stock (beautiful but just overpriced just because of "fancy woods") and the S2 line - SE spec'd all the way around, just double the price because made in USA). The SE line BLOWS virtually any other competitors out of the park at their respective price points. From the SE CE24 (I love them) to the SE Custom 24/24-08, to the SE DGT, and Holcomb signatures (I own 3 Holcomb sigs haha)).

That’s a global increase of available ebony of 750%. They have so much of it that they now supply other builders in the market due to their rigorous management and harvesting practices. They’re aggressively managing stocks to preserve future availability. Your understanding appears superficial and dated.

I totally disagree with what you're saying what you're saying if I think is rub you can find just as good guitars for a hell of a lot less gretch are much better value for money than Gibson's ferrozine concern Gibson you're paying for the name and that's all you're paying for the name you look at a lot of groups these days they're not using Gibson's most people won't pay stupid money buy yourself a gretch ask for defenders are now made in foreign countries the quality is absolutely garbage firstly myself I've got 18 guitars which I have quite a variation of one of the oldest guitars I have is an Yamaha FG 140 I do have some vendors but the best Fender copy I have is made by Yamaha just as good as a Strat 1/4 of the price stop listening to all these pros that took out the ass try the guitar play it see that gives you what you need is the action good is a sustained good because believe it or not I have picked up a Gibson that sounds bloody terrible that are definitely not worth the money I used to work in Liverpool the main two music shops in Liverpool was Rushworth I'm Frank Hesse are you suspend most of my dinner hours in Frank Hess the engineer told me many years ago and this is what he said there is four telecasters there the role the same model but different colours but they're not all equal and that goes for Gibson Ibanez almost other brands I was told you need to pick it up and play it people I've got this idea if you've got a Gibson or something similar all of a sudden you're gonna have success you're buying into a dream that doesn't exist so don't be fooled if you got a Gibson you're going to play better it's simple it doesn't work like that I've been playing since the late 60s I still like half an hour practice per day on the odd occasion I have filled in for a musician but I don't like doing it it's very very hard copy somebody else's Style most of the time you reaching for something which is an impossibility if somebody gave me a Gibson guitar let's just say a Gibson Hummingbird I would sell it and buy 3 to 4 decent guitars that I know I'd get a lot of fun am pleasure from just very recently I have changed my style slightly I've gone to parlour style guitars I'm still enjoy playing every day

I liked the information given in this video. Right now, due to having so many guitars for sale there are some good deals being offered. Gibson, American Strats and PRS hold their value. If you buy these guitars on sale , you have a good chance of getting your money back if you want to sell. Yamaha makes Revstar and the new Professional that are very nice . If you are a collector , you probably want to collect Gibsons …but I wouldn’t take a $6700 guitar to a gig where someone might take it. Heck, I might mod my Harley Benton and bang around with that to have fun . I’d like to see a video on guitars between $600-$1000. ❤

    America overvalues all its guitars.

Great vid! I agree with you on all three. I have an '07 (ebony) and '08 (gold) LP classic. They are both chambered and play amazing. Mine don't have the ABR-1 bridges, but I'm not a stickler about that. I wasn't a huge fan of the stock pickups, so I ended up swapping them out for something closer to a PAF in both guitars. IMO, pickups aren't a reason not to buy a guitar. Easy fix.
Slightly disagree about the Shawbucker...I really liked the 2nd gen!

Haha sorry about bashing the Shawbuckers! They aren't THAT bad.
