  • Day 2 of my 9 days West Highland Way adventure in Scotland.
I started my hike at 10:30am and arrived at Sallochy campsite after 8.5 hours and 18.5km (moving time 5 hours).
Checkout my playlist for all my WHW videos:
I will upload the next days' videos probably on a weekly basis, maybe even 2 videos per week, let's see...

Please feel free to ask any question in the comments below.
    About Sallochy campsite:
I express my sadness in the video, that my "spot" was not "wild" enough.
My booking of the campsite and that pitch number 6 based on images on their booking website.
The pitches in those images looked much wilder with many trees/bushes.
Also the map of the campsite gave me the impression that pitch 6 would be much more isolated:
    forestryandlan...
In reality it was right next to pitch 4 and 5.
If I had the choice again I would book pitch 7, 8 or 2.
However, I still had 2 great nights there and "my" campfire was still kind of "isolated" from the neighbours.
Especially the 2nd night felt very quiet because my neighbours were all quiet.
The 1st night there were people at pitch 3, 4 and 5 who knew each other and were constantly talking and laughing very loud.

It was always nice to check how many more km I had to walk and if it was going up or down...
    My Strava:
I tracked all days with my Garmin watch, so you can see in detail where I went, how fast I was, my heartrate and so on...

No hiking partner this time (sad...).
Also no music in the video.

Yes I realised in the video how loud they are (audio not edited!). During the day I didn't notice so much, but sometimes in the evening when trying to sleep 🐦🦉🙉😅....

I’m doing a round the Isle of Wight coast walk this year and hopefully the Camino Frances in 2025 you have given me idea for my 2026 route now ❤ think I’ll look into the hostels & not carry camp gear. My trail name would be im so completely NOT speed 😂😂Thank you for sharing your trip ❤

Isle of Wight coastal path sounds nice, didn't know that one yet. Thanks for the inspiration 👍 And NO I was definitely NOT fast with my monster backpack. But for motivation "I am speed" felt good 😅

Moses Peak looks cool, thanks for the inspiration 🙏 I think you mean the "Barah Broq Trek"? Definitely a different category of hike, with 5300m of altitude. Haven't been to Pakistan yet, but to Nepal.

Such a shame about your noisy neighbours at Sallochy. Some of those loch side pitches seem better than the others. Only stayed once (not when walking WHW) and I had pitch number 10 ..figured it would mean people only on one side of me instead of 2 as had also wanted the isolation.

Yes some of the pitches are nicer than others, but it was difficult to find that out just by looking at photos or other people's videos. I actually chose pitch 6 because I saw it in another video and someone recommended it as "very private for a solo hiker". In reality there was just wayyyy less vegetation than on the photos/videos I saw, so it felt very open and not so private. 9 and 10 looked nice, that's true.
