This is a wonderful variant and was axed because with its side facing rear seats, the NCAP crash test rating of 4 star might not have been possible for the brand.
There is now talk of launching a barebone 2wd varient of the Thar with their 1.5 liter 3 pot mill. Such a varient is sure to be priced competative and a worthy torchbearer to the old Thar 2.5DI. How exactly the brand will still keep the 4star rating, we'll have to wait & watch.
Should there however be one, might as well launch it along with a 2wd version of 2.2 liter AX aswell. Will fill the void left by not using the 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder ssangyong unit on the 2wd Thar.

Bhai but in the thar 2022, rear seats are not faced and two separate seats are there but it is difficult to enter back side as compared to this faced seats, they can keep space to get on the rear seats through back door just like Force gurkha
