Heads up! My mistake: CORRECTION, the Kitsch shampoo bar (new) is 3.2 oz not 2.7 oz. The conditioner bar is what I was looking at. The older shampoo bar was 3.6 oz.
Otherwise, which is YOUR pick? 💜Scorecards are linked in the description, but to make life easier:

Sodium coco sulfate is naturally derived surfactant. I think that’s why they used it in Ethique. Some consumers prefer natural derived ingredients.

I use kitsch caster oil, the smell is fantastic. I think it works great. I have fine hair. No tangles. I used a regular shampoo after a few weeks just to hurry and noticed an immediate difference. Ran my fingers through my dry hair and they were getting stuck and felt like breaking my hair. I also use the kitsch coconut conditioner, i think it is the best conditioner i have ever used

So, after seeing several positive reviews on both the Kitsch and Earthling Co shampoo and conditioner bars, I finally got one. I went with Kitsch because they're easily accessible at Ulta and I went with the rice protein version. I just used it this morning and I LOVE THEM! We'll see how my hair fairs on my between wash days but as of now I really love my results. I am 42 and my hair is... well, it can get super oily if I don't use te right products and it's course but not super thick (if that makes sense!) I'm always down to try new things and this is supposed to help with hair shedding which has been an issue for me since my teenage years. Normal bloodwork so I have to imagine it's the products... or genetics? Hell if I know! I'm just glad I still have hair on my head (and, thank the Lord, no bald spots!) 😂❤

So glad they're working for you! LOL same, happy to have hair on my head. Gratitude. Also, check out water filters- I just reviewed the Jolie, and I didn't expect it to make a big difference, but...kinda did.

I am mixed race (black and white) and have fine, really curly hair. I use and like the Briogeo 3-in1 bar (as shampoo and shaving foam, only use as body bar when I travel) and Ethique In The Buff Fragrance Free conditioner bar regularly. I occasionally use the Ethique Curliosity Co-Wash Bar (for summer when rinsing after the beach or pool or when travelling, its fine for these occasions, but not as moisturizing as In the Buff). I OCCASIONALLY use the Viori fragrance free conditioner bar (as a protein treatment). I really like the Briogeo and Ethique bars. My hair is clean and conditioned without irritation, drying, oiliness, or any flaking or stickiness. The Viori is only OK because its drying and I often have to follow with the Ethique In The Buff. I was thinking about the Kitsch rice protein conditioner as an alternative to the Viori, once I use it up, but your reviews make me hesitate.

I have only tried the Ethique conditioner bar and I loved it. It smelled good, felt hydrating and seems to lasts a long time given the price is a little up there compared to other natural bottled shampoo brands. I have wavy hair so I need pretty good conditioning. I got it for traveling and it's convenient to not worry about a bottle spiling and have a good natural product to use. The ingredient list seems fairly simple but I have the same questions that Britt raised but it is a better alternative than conventional IMO.

I have fine-ish blonde hair, color-treated highlights, with a natural wave/curl and oily scalp. I shampoo and condition in the shower pretty much every day. I have tried both brands, and I also prefer the Ethique. I use the Ethique St. Clemens shampoo with the Wonderbar conditioner. I tried the Kitsch purple shampoo (for brassiness) and the purple conditioner--I forget the name of them. I stored both bars in the shower inside the Ethique container. They were not in direct drip nor sitting in wetness, but there is definitely steam.
The scent from the Kitsch is more overpowering than the Ethique. (Strong jasmine vs subtle citrus.) But my biggest complaint is the CRUMBLE! The Kitsch bars (both shampoo and conditioner) just fall apart after a few weeks, making them very difficult to use. The Ethique bars also eventually crumble, but it seemed like they held their shape much longer and only started to break apart when the bar is small. If I position and swipe the Ethique bars correctly, they shrink down to about the size of two dice before they break apart. (The conditioner bar I am using is about 1"x1" and paper thin and still hasn't broken.) The Kitsch was still a full handful when it broke into about 7 pieces! I store them in the box and use one at a time, but even the little pieces break apart and get stuck/lost in my hair.
I also notice my hair gets oily faster when I use the purple bars from Kitsch, but the Ethique St. Clemens is formulated for oily scalp, so that could be a factor. Also, not really noticing enough of a difference in "tone" to warrant the purple bars. (Ethique makes a purple bar that I also have and it is REALLY purple--like worried I will stain my shower curtain--and seems to do more toning-down than the Kitsch bars.)

This is amazing feedback, thanks for sharing! I haven't tried the new shape (Kitsch) yet. I have the purple bar as well so will see how it holds up!

I have used both. I have thin wavy hair with a sensitive scalp. I actually liked Kitsch better. Ethique even in the fragrance free makes my hair inch.

I have the ethique mintasy bar right now. I’m not married to the brand but here is my journey:
-the place I live gets very cold and dry in the winter time AND I have very hard water. Switching from shampoo bottles to this bar made my hair seem greasier….but…
I got sick of the greasy hair and decided to try to train my hair and started doing apple cider vinegar rinses.
From my efforts I think I have I now have a dry scalp 😂
The bars themselves: once I trained my hair they’re fine but I am looking into other bars just in case I can have something better.
On drying out ends, I use their condition and it feels really nice in the shower but after it wasn’t anything different, once again I live with *really* hard water so once I stated oiling my ends and doing ACV rinses, my hair was softer…
*note on how long it lasts: storing it in the shower will make it disappear faster, I’ve had it for maybe I think 4 months now and while storing it in their container in the shower and I’ll be needing to buy a new bar soon

This is incredibly helpful info. Thank you! Also what oil to you use on the ends? I’m thinking of starting that. 💜

@@BrittWitkin I use African Pride Moisture Miracle 5 Essential Oils, but just to be transparent I got this a couple years ago when I had a perm so my hair was curly. I still use it though and it’s really nice, I haven’t really done any research about it and compared it with others tho haha.
Also update on Ethique: I finished the shampoo bar for oily hair and decided to try out the Heali Kiwi and I actually love it. I’m really glad I took the time to try to train my hair and balance my scalp’s ph. Using the Heali Kiwi makes my hair so soft and I only have to wash my hair 2 times a week now. When I notice that it starts to get oily quicker I just do a AVC rinse and my scalp figures itself out again. Doing a moisturizing hair mask once a week has also helped.

Your hair is looking awesome, in a distracting, what the heck is she doing, kind of way! I too have baby fine hair and a lot of it. I have concentrated the shampoo to the scalp and the conditioner to the rest, as you mentioned, for as long as I can remember. Periodic rinsing of ACV mixed in a pitcher of ice cold water for clarification keeps any wretched build up away. I’ve heard good things about Brite Bar None Hydrating Shampoo. I so appreciate your thoroughness and your candor, as always. 💐

ohhhhh thank you. I've really been focusing on it so that's great to hear. I'm doing some longer, 30-day reviews that will come in a bit. Thank you! I've tried the ACV actually- worked, but I can't stand the smell haha. 💜
