  • This is my second video on the difference between a Coach retail handbag and a Coach factory outlet handbag. When I go to the Coach outlet, I want to find the best deals. So I always look for the Coach retail bags that are being discounted. In this video, I pointed out several key difference between the two. I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful.

    Sometimes when a full price bag goes to the outlet, the story patch (leather patch on the inside) is re-stamped to include an "F" so it is not returnable to a full price store.

      I just got a bag from outlet. It does not have F or factory tag. Infact, has ragular tag.

    As a Coach Preferred Customer I can tell you that there is no difference in quality between a boutique bag and a factory bag. Boutique bags do end up in the factory, along with shoes and clothing, depending upon the location. Most factory bags are produced exclusively for the factory and will never be or have been sold in the boutiques. Boutique bags have limited quantities which is why they carry a higher price tag, they're more exclusive, they sell out, where as factory bags are sold in large quantities. Factory bags are produced for a "lower-end" clientele. Women or men who would never pay $500 or more for a a handbag but are willing to pay $100-$150 because they think they're getting a deal. The suggested retail price on a factory bag is misleading because it was never intended to be sold or priced for the boutique. I only buy boutique bags because it decreases the likelihood of someone else having my bag.

    Wherever the bag comes from, and whatever a person paid is their business. As long as you are happy with your purchase, who cares! I shop both retail and factory. No one really asks to examine my bags inside out when I am out in the public, they just say that they like them. Thumbs up to a proud purchase, THAT'S what matters!

    I have owned coach bags from retail stores and factory outlet. Both types hold up very well and both are authentic. Yes, most of the coach outlet bags are made specifically for the outlets so they can offer them at a significantly cheaper price, but even at that, they are still NOT cheap. The difference seems to be in the quality of the hardware such as the zipper and metal rings, if that is truly bothersome to you. However, if I can get a beautiful pebble leather bag at the outlet for $108 vs. similar bag for $285 at the retail store, the outlet wins most times. It is still a Coach bag and they still have to maintain a certain standard of quality. I have been very happy with the outlet bags and have had some of mine for years. Never had a problem. I did have a very cheap one that lasted a couple of years and then the zipper broke but that can happen on the retail bag as well. Many years ago got a genuine Gucci bag from their Manhattan store. Zipper crapped out after 6 months of use! Yes, they did fix it. So will Coach. There is a one year warranty on both regular bags and outlet bags. I believe the store bags once had a lifetime warranty but no more.

    I purchased my first coach bag with my first pay check as a nurse 27 years ago. I still have the same bag! I have many coach boutique bags as well as Factory outlet bags. I had no problem with the factory bags. I have a signature business tote I I bought over two years ago. That one is my every day bag. That bag still looks great! To tell you the truth, I like the Coach Factory bags better than the Coach boutique bags. The Coach boutique styles are tired and outdated! The Factory outlet bags have better styles and colors.
    Bottom line, people buy what they like. Just because it cost more does not mean its better quality! I bought a Gucci bag and the strap broke with in three month of purchase!

      Yeah I have been purchasing coach for over 12 years, both from boutique and outlet. I think I get equal wear from both types of bags. The quality is equal. I have a coach signature fabric laptop/diaper bag that was purchased in 2010 n is still my rock to this day. I also purchased handbags that were sold in the boutique but I purchased at outlet and dust ruffle never came with them. I have a beautiful red Peyton tote that you would swear it was sold at the boutique but it was made for outlet. I feel like a million bucks when I wear that handbag. Still, I elieve that ppl still want original coach look no matter how the handbags in coach boutique are being updated. I know for me personally, it's a disappointment in the updated n am just not having it.

      Coach bags from the factory are mass produced. The full price store only makes a certain amount and that is it. Coach factory mass produces it's bags. They continuously make more of the same styles with different fabrics and colors. The factory store makes cutesy lower priced bags targeted towards the general public that otherwise would not go into a regular Coach store. The factory store makes more money then the regular priced store. People who know Coach and the quality of the brand will go in to the "boring" full price store. Coach factory is not the same quality as the full price bags. It is like saying that Gap clothes is the same quality as Old Navy. Same company, different marketing target.

    • @bagobeans
      @bagobeans 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The outlet brands make more styles. They do a lot of test marketing. Boutiques are limited and only make so many. Each store targets a certain customer. You have to know how the business end works and what group the items are sold to. This is all careful marketing.

      Bag Obeans oh it the same quality all made in china, to me the fogging of trying to make a China man hand mass production levels of brand just killed it for me. I own stamped made in USA NY coach many still in beautiful condition, but won't touch them now, I rather buy from a designer brand like Celine or Gucci where it still not mix with china. Cost more but coach sold out to being MK abusive husband in sales war of walking around like build board for free advertising. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    So what's the problem? These bags are very good quality not knockoff and I have both. It does not matter whether it is from the Factory Outlet or the Regular Coach Store and you also get a warranty with the outlet bags. Are people so hung up on material things and names that it has come to this!

    Thanks JinJin, this was very helpful. I usually buy my Coach bags from the Coach store. We recently had an outlet store open in one of our malls. I was intending to go check it out. A colleague went and came back with a beautiful navy tote and wallet for only $280!!! That's less than the purse I got myself for Easter that wasn't even a tote! I will, however, keep in mind some of the wonderful tips you've shared.
    On another note, please don't be discouraged by any mean comments that are made on your thread. I think your information was very helpful and I will continue to look for your videos. Sometimes, when people make mean, useless comments it's because they have nothing better to do with their lives. Others may comment because they don't realize that just because they don't like something that's posted it's not necessary for them to voice their negative opinions. If your video is taken within the same heart in which it has been provided, I'm sure people would just appreciate the effort you put into recording and providing the information. Any intelligent person would know anything you purchase, Coach included, is a personal decision. If they don't like Coach they should continue purchasing at Wal Mart (not that there's anything wrong with a purse from Wal Mart) and simply let others enjoy what they like. Thank you, again, for taking the time to put this video together and for sharing it with us. Awesome job!

    I shop both stores. 90% of the time if I like something in the boutique store I can get it 3 - 4 months later in the outlet store. I did this with several models over the years such as Madison, Poppy, hippie flap, etc. I never looked at model numbers etc. I just snap a picture of the ones I like in the boutique or print them from online. Then wait and go to the outlet and check for them in about 3 months and usually they are there. Perhaps not in the color I originally wanted, I would say I get the color about 75% of the time but usually in a better color. For instance I originally wanted Sophia in Tan, but could only get her in red or bright blue at the outlet and ended up liking the red better than the tan I originally wanted, plus I saved $200+. So for me its about getting what I like but for less. I love coach. I have a coach bag that I got when I graduated from college 25 years ago and it still looks good (the Patricia). I also have outlet bags from the early 90s that look just as good too (hippie crossbody). As long as they are authentic Coach bags you will get YEARS of good service from them. So far I have only had one with an issue.

      If you think all COACH bags are tacky then you clearly have no taste. Perhaps your taste runs to the tacky Gucci bags or the even tackier LV bags who you are willingly paying $5,000+ for the name. My sister is into those overpriced junk bags. The LV Neverfull wouldn't carry half of what I can carry in my COACH Daisy Messenger Bag (F19714). My vintage COACH Willis has lasted me forever, now I do not like the new Willis but not everyone is going to like every bag. I didn't like the signature bags at first, they took a while to grow on me because I was used to the traditional leather COACH bags. I have been buying COACH since before they made handbags. My first 2 English riding saddles were COACH and are the only two from that era which I still use and which have NEVER had to be restitched. If you know someone who rides ask them how often they experience that. My parents paid top dollar for them back in the '60's but worth every penny. The original COACH bags were basically 'less is more' simple and classy. Still are today and you will see their styles imitated in the Chloe line and some other famous designers who want THOUSANDS for their bags which in my opinion are not made to the same quality standard as COACH. You are probably young because I do find some of the styles from the '70's & '80's with the oversize buckles etc., to be tacky today but you fail to remember THAT WAS THE IN STYLE BACK THEN. I lived through it but you sound as if you are young if from nothing else than the rude comments you posted here. If you don't like COACH, then go somewhere else. This is a video about COACH for people who like the brand. Nobody really cares to read your childish remarks.

    I bought a nice crossbody bag at a thrift store for $20. It looked clean, new and well made so I was okay with the price. I didn’t have my readers with me but when I got home I was surprised to see a Coach label inside. I was trying to research to seen if it was a fake but everything I found said it wasn't. I was going to call their number in the morning to find out when it was made. I had narrowed it to late 90s early 00s. After watching your video, i also know it's from a outlet store.

      I will never buy a coach handbag again. I purchases one at an outlet store and within a month of Sunday use the cheap plastic straps had split and were broken. I thought they were leather or should have been. The purse was very cheaply made. I know now it was made for the factory outlet but I could have bought a cheaper bag at Walmart and it would have lasted longer.

    I would just like to know why this is such a big deal? A COACH bag is a COACH bag, regardless of whether or not you bought it at the retail store or at the outlet. COACH may make certain styles for the outlets, but they are bags that were brought back from the archived styles. I can tell you that the two "outlet" bags in this video, were originally manufactured in the late '90's early 2000's. The majority of the bags in the outlets are overstock from the retail stores that did not sell before the new season bags are launched. If you are a true COACH lover, & track the bags on the retail site, you will notice that the outlet bags were on the COACH website the past season. If anyone wonders why I am so sure of this, I am a past COACH employee.

    • @cassielclark6919

      @Robert Richter! THANK you for your post! The bags I purchased from the outlet are of the same quality (including stitching, big C's vs little C's...or whatEVER), and are just as beautiful as my boutique bags. And yes, I've gotten dust bags WITH my bags purchased at the outlets, whether they were former boutique or outlet-intended styles...I don't understand why some posters are SO sure outlet bags don't come with dustbags, because mine DID...all of them...and I'm certain not all were former boutique purses. Gee willikers, people. As long as the COACH products are genuine, does it MATTER from which retail source they were purchased? Let people enjoy their beautiful accessories without making them feel as if they own inferior versions just because they may have come via an outlet store.

    I have over 35 genuine Coach bags and 16 pairs of Coach shoes. I can tell you that this information is not always true. I have purchased bags right from the Coach store with "F" on the labels. Also, Coach does not always even put a serial number on all of their bags. It matters not whether or not they were purchased in the outlet or the retail store. All Coach bags are made in China now. As are many knock-off Coaches. Consistant quality of stitching and materials is the way to tell a quality Coach bag, and to know what lines Coach actually sells. Weight, sheen of fabric, research on their lines, and stitching are the key to knowing real Coach when you see it. Although there may be some trends in numbering, unfortunately, your "F" identification is not always true. I did appreciate your video overall however.

To me personally, it might sound petty, where the bags come from do make a difference to me even if the are supposedly the same because no matter what I will be second guessing, For ex:if I was to buy my Coach bags from the factory outlet, that is where I would continue to get them and vice versa! Please understand this video is NOT showing you how to spot a fake/counterfeit. All 3 bags in this video are authentic.
    The only thing this is showing is that if there is an "F" in the 2nd part of the serial #, the bag was made at the coach factory specifically for the factory store. If the bag was made for the retail store it won't have an "F" after the dash in the serial #. If it was made for a retail store but did not sell and got sent to a factory store, the creed will have a bullsye stamped on it.
    There are many different things to look at when looking at authenticity. This video is not about authenticity at all. This is fact about the serial #'s and one person's opinion. Personally, I have owned both made for retail and made for factory bags and the quality is the same to me. Yes, you will get a better "deal" if it was made for retail and you bought it from a factory store BUT the bags made for retail are marked up much higher to begin with.

Atleast people know the difference.Btw just to add some infos, in some luxury brand retail shops they will provide certificate of authentication, unique serial number (will not the same with other bag and its only for that particular bag)... guess we can know its truely handmade by a person of his own craftsmanship.

    I have received dust bags with certain bags purchased from the factory. I purchased them from the factory online, but they have the F in the serial number like you said, so I'm not sure if that's one way to really tell. But thanks for doing this video! I never knew some of this info!!

    I hardly ever buy stuff online and yesterday I bought a coach bag off eBay, from watching your video I now know it's a factory coach. Well the only reason I questioned it being authentic was bc of the quality of the leather. So my question is if it's not an official coach purse does that just mean it's a knockoff???

    So Rose, you don't actually work for Coach either, huh? The Coach bags that end up for whatever reason, in the Factory Outlet, but came from full price retailers, should also be marked with a bullseye imprinted on the upper left or right of the leather creed tag. I think the info. That she was able to share in the short time allotted was very helpful. There is a lot more to be learned about the bags, if you do research, it's online. It's also helpful because most discounted bags sold new on ebay, are sold by sellers buying tons of discounted factory bags. And, yes, I do see a difference in the detailing between factory and Coach full price bags.

    Thanks for the information but does it really matter. Face it, people are showing off they have a very expensive bag. They just want the Coach Name . As far as the dust bag just use a pillow case. The prices of all these bags and especially wallets are way over priced anyway. Yes, ladies I am a man and I do understand that they last a long time.

      *****
      I guess its just one of those things then. A woman probably understand why I would spend $500.00 on a set of Snap On or Mac Tool wrenches when Lowes has the same type wrenches for 1/3 of that. Its all about quality and warranty to me. I do think $300 to $500.00 is rather expensive for a purse.
      My opinion only!

      +David Hoover A bag such as Coach is going to be better made & last longer than a $20 purse also (ask me how I know). Once in a great while there are exceptions, but I believe Coach has guarantees on their bags that cheaper brands don't usually have. So you're not just paying for the "name".

    This video is helpful. Personally, I would like to have an original boutique design instead of an outlet design. I believe the material is different due to the price factor. I went to the Outlet and saw Warren belt bag and i like it but worried it is an outlet product. I searched an in the US it is with F. I need to check the outlet in Malaysia has F or not. I have original men's bag but there is no F or code printed. I have to check my receipt. But definitely, i bought it from the boutique.

    Great video. You got it right! The employees were lying to you. The outlet bags are not the same quality as the Coach boutique bags. In fact Coach and Coach outlet are two distinctly different companies. The one thing you forgot to mention, is that the outlet bags come in a variety of styles that are not sold in the boutique stores. It gives Couch the leeway of playing with and introducing new styles. Or bringing back old styles that the public loves. The Poppy collection has resurfaced again.

    I have many Coach bags from the factory outlet as well as Coach boutique. I don't see nothing wrong in the bags from the factory Outlet , they are the same quality than the boutique ones and they have beautiful styles and awesome customer service. You made it sound like the bags from the factory outlet don't worth nothing and that is not how it is. Not because you pay full price don't mean that you are buying something better...

      Well 3 years after this post, outlet stores are still selling outdated and low quality bags.There is a huge difference from retail and outlet stores especially the leather bags. Their tags are overpriced and then make "our price" on sale and then extra% sale to make it appear you save a ton of money from the original price. It is a marketing ploy to deceive people .I work in an upscale dep't store and my advise is just to wait and avail of sales like friends and family and you will save a lot and own real good quality bags either from mk, coach,kate spade etc...

    Hello, I was given a small Coach purse as a gift, the tag says "Coach Factory", but the price is removed. There is no Coach creed (I believe the bag's simply too small), with a small pocket with a flap and a decorative silver button, stamped "COACH est. 1941". There is a little Coach imprinted fob on the side, it's raised, not stamped. The stitching is all even, and everything looks fine, but I can't find the bag description online? The only tag I have is the one that says "Coach Factory". with the number FS1133 on the top left, SV/BK on the top right, underneath says "SV/Black", then underneath that, the barcode, then on the bottom part of the tag, "HMW COS POU". Below is the removable price, which has been taken off. I'm sorry to trouble you, but I was just curious about the fact that I can't find it online. I've looked through so many guides, but they all suggest looking for the Coach creed, which my bag doesn't have. Thank you for your help in advance, Carley

      Hello, the FS1133 sounds like a factory specific item code for the purse. However, factory items are usually in the format of Fxxxxx, where all the x's are numbers.

      Kathy Turman yes, I deal in Michael Kors on eBay but when someone uses the word boutique they should really say high end retail stores and online, when online you should see the lining to tell, but I am speaking my knowledge is Michael Kors

    • @kathyturman1118
      @kathyturman1118 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm totally fine with factory made outlet coach and Michael Kors bags. And bags from the department stores. Both are guaranteed authentic. Besides the official site, I wouldn't buy bags online. Too many scammers. Sorry

    • @wubbie2002
      @wubbie2002 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, never ever get on ebay unless you know your stuff. I am getting rid of my outlet bags and just going to sell the high end bags. What happens is people who sell on sites run out every day to get deals on the super sale items at the MK outlet (I only know about MK, so that is the examples I use) they buy up every item they can and then run to EBay to sell the items double the price they paid. Right now the Grayson bags are on sale and then you see them all over online. Grayson is one of the bags that is made to be made for outlets only, I do like the Grayson. The problem now is they are really making bags cheaper, the saffiano is horrid, they have taken the MK medallion off of bags. On and on, but I have no problem people shopping outlets just know what you are getting. I am all for people getting bags at discount stores, anywhere they find something they like. Oh, and if you know what outlet bag you want you may call an outlet and order it over the phone.
