The person donating gets a tax write off, the thrift store has product to sell, consumers get products that they may not be able to otherwise afford, and a portion of profits are assigned to charities. This isn't always the case. Some "Thrift Stores" behave more as pawn shops and these stores, I believe, are different because they operate within capitalism as opposed to despite capitalism. It is this distinction that separates thrift stores from pawn shops. Buying something from a pawn shop for less tham what its worth is often times the name of the game, and at the expense of the shopkeeper. Buying something from a thrift store, with the intent resell for a profit, steals opportunity from consumers, and breaks the social contract of what a thrift store is... Maybe that's why I don't see as many of them.

That's because thrifting is basically an art form. You have to have super niche knowledge on a variety of things. Describing what goes into it wouldn't even begin to fit into a YT short.
It's one that involves the most skill so it is hard to say too much about it in a few seconds. I flip stuff like this but I stick to buying and selling what I know. The quickest root is to start with what your hobby is. If you like camping then you know what people will pay for. If you collect toys then you know what is hot etc. etc. the hobby is irrelevant it is your knowledge that you can turn into money.

I eventually concluded that if you find a Faberge egg at a Goodwill, that means that no one on the planet wants that particular Faberge egg - not that you found a bargain. 🤣 That said, there is something to what you wrote. I might try just doing things like camping gear. Although unlike how people on YT vids all seem to find a full array of Osprey and Patagonia gear at Goodwills for pennies, the best I can say I've ever found is an old purple REI backpack in Western South Dakota. Little feedback: it would be very helpful if you mentioned how much time you put in for the side hustles. If some require a full time schedule it might not be worth it for those who can't commit to it because of limited time their have from work, education, responsibilities or personal reasons. I like the print on demand hustle it looks something I can do in evenings after work instead of wasting my time on PS5.
I would go into my local thrift (which is a clear outlier mind you) and head straight for electronics, spend maybe 10-15 minutes there and then go back to work I lost a bit of lunch (thrift opens 13 once per week, my lunch was 12:30-13:30, would eat snack in queue) but generally found electronics worth orders of magnitude above the price tag. Finding stuff like V100s and 3090s (4 of which are in my PC today) for 750 ti prices.
Selling print on demand stuff is so much harder than people assume. Unless you already have a huge base of followers on social media, it’s going to take a while to get anywhere

Fix and flip. So many things get tossed to trash since people dont know how to fix them. I collect them when ever i see them, take messed up ones for spare parts and most usually have couple small issues like mosquito magnet i just picked up for free had damaged power cord and cracked gasline. with 30€ investment and couple hours least 300€ that i can just invest back to get 3d printed to make spare parts if something is missing from some other thing, like knob from weber gas grill, price of new 1000€ took to days of soaking and then washing to get it clean and that time went to print new knobs.

One thing to keep in mind for "Print to Demand" clothing. If you are creating a brand be thorough on what materials you'll be using. Loads of T shirt styles out there, but more importantly, pay attention to print quality! Screen printing will always be best for multicolor designs, but can be pricier, but more worth just for print stay longevity. DTG or Direct to Garment printing is terrible. The colors pop huge! But they hold creases if you fold over the design. And literally fall off. I have a pair of mesh shorts that I experimented with, and before second wash there was cracking and falling off in small parts. Diffusing is awesome! But usually only good for white designs but dyes the material so its forever! Go earn your paper!
Case in point, just get a damn job! If you're not a professional athlete, you're not a rich celebrity, and you're not a politician, then stop expecting to hit it big.

Thrift store flipping is often a shameless practice.
In my area, the inventory of most thrift stores is supplied by donations. Its a great deal for everyone involved. The person donating gets a tax write off, the thrift store has product to sell, consumers get products that they may not be able to otherwise afford, and a portion of profits are assigned to charities. This isn't always the case.
Some "Thrift Stores" behave more as pawn shops and these stores, I believe, are different because they operate within capitalism as opposed to despite capitalism.
It is this distinction that separates thrift stores from pawn shops. Buying something from a pawn shop for less tham what its worth is often times the name of the game, and at the expense of the shopkeeper. Buying something from a thrift store, with the intent resell for a profit, steals opportunity from consumers, and breaks the social contract of what a thrift store is... Maybe that's why I don't see as many of them.

That's because thrifting is basically an art form. You have to have super niche knowledge on a variety of things. Describing what goes into it wouldn't even begin to fit into a YT short.
It's one that involves the most skill so it is hard to say too much about it in a few seconds. I flip stuff like this but I stick to buying and selling what I know. The quickest root is to start with what your hobby is. If you like camping then you know what people will pay for. If you collect toys then you know what is hot etc. etc. the hobby is irrelevant it is your knowledge that you can turn into money.

@@presterjohn71 It's just really weird. I took a stab at it about a decade ago with denim. I found out the popular brands, how to spot the fakes, etc. Never was able to unload them on eBay. I eventually concluded that if you find a Faberge egg at a Goodwill, that means that no one on the planet wants that particular Faberge egg - not that you found a bargain. 🤣
That said, there is something to what you wrote. I might try just doing things like camping gear. Although unlike how people on YT vids all seem to find a full array of Osprey and Patagonia gear at Goodwills for pennies, the best I can say I've ever found is an old purple REI backpack in Western South Dakota.

Thrift store flipping is so unethical tho, i remember when it was taboo. Thrift stores exist so that low income people can afford nice things, thats why thrift stores run on donations. People donate to thrift stores hoping to help the needy not to make some greedy person rich.
To be fair though, low income people can benefit from this tactic as well and get their money up. So it can be done in a somewhat grey area.
Wrong rich people donate to feel good and get rid of there excess. It’s a service, sad to say it’s needed in this country but true.

No it’s not, stop crying. I go into thrift stores all the time (not to flip but I like finding a good deal on stuff) and I always see items those in need can use. Flipping is fine and makes the store money and the money is then donated to those in need with charity.

Little feedback: it would be very helpful if you mentioned how much time you put in for the side hustles. If some require a full time schedule it might not be worth it for those who can't commit to it because of limited time their have from work, education, responsibilities or personal reasons. I like the print on demand hustle it looks something I can do in evenings after work instead of wasting my time on PS5.
I would go into my local thrift (which is a clear outlier mind you) and head straight for electronics, spend maybe 10-15 minutes there and then go back to work
I lost a bit of lunch (thrift opens 13 once per week, my lunch was 12:30-13:30, would eat snack in queue) but generally found electronics worth orders of magnitude above the price tag. Finding stuff like V100s and 3090s (4 of which are in my PC today) for 750 ti prices.
I suppose the ultimate side hustle is something you enjoy doing and is relaxing. Then it would not feel so bad to not make money at it

Started my side hustle reselling on ebay, Sacrificed a few years and worked my ass off. Now have been doing it full time for 3 years. Best decision I’ve ever made. Definitely doable but requires sacrifice, effort & work but not forever.

I asked him for lower price in return of brining me more ppl and soon I managed to get literal 10s of ppl every 2 days and each project is finished it just mere 1 to 2 hr .. the word limits like 6000 avg.. still lmao

Fix and flip. So many things get tossed to trash since people dont know how to fix them. I collect them when ever i see them, take messed up ones for spare parts and most usually have couple small issues like mosquito magnet i just picked up for free had damaged power cord and cracked gasline. with 30€ investment and couple hours least 300€ that i can just invest back to get 3d printed to make spare parts if something is missing from some other thing, like knob from weber gas grill, price of new 1000€ took to days of soaking and then washing to get it clean and that time went to print new knobs.
Thrift shop's are really a gold mine. I found two hundred dollar lightsabers for 10$

Thrift stores, accept donations from people who have things they no longer need, and anything that is sellable they will happily sell to whoever comes in and buys it. The proceeds go to support charities. I would really love to know where the brain dead nonsense came from that claim to three stores were exclusively for the use of the poor. In fact, if those with money stop shopping at them, the charities the thrift store supports will go out of business. So great job! One thing to keep in mind for "Print to Demand" clothing. If you are creating a brand be thorough on what materials you'll be using. Loads of T shirt styles out there, but more importantly, pay attention to print quality! Screen printing will always be best for multicolor designs, but can be pricier, but more worth just for print stay longevity. DTG or Direct to Garment printing is terrible. The colors pop huge! But they hold creases if you fold over the design. And literally fall off. I have a pair of mesh shorts that I experimented with, and before second wash there was cracking and falling off in small parts. Diffusing is awesome! But usually only good for white designs but dyes the material so its forever! Go earn your paper!

Amazon affiliate sucks. They really cut the % commission more than half. It used to be 5-8% before and now it's 3%. Also cookie duration is 24 hours - this should be extended to 10 days to 30 days.
That helium mining can actually be viable if you have a few boxes and leave them running for months.

The one closest to me is right next door to a computing company who just donate any "old" equipment (they donated 4x V100s which i bought for $200 including the server they were in in 2021)
