Colin Hay was born & raised in Scotland until he was 14 when he & his family moved to Australia. He has had a hugely successful life in Australia & is very grateful to Australia & the opportunities it gave him. He still though, retains his Scots accent. 💙 Braw lad!

Thats actually what strikes me but it always seems to get the least attention.
I went to sing this in a covers band and found myself going WTF. Vocal is amazing and the record is so good you don’t realise. I thought I was just in the wrong key, wrong octave or had gone tone deaf 🤦♂️

What an honour to play with Colin Hay! Quick story: When I was in grade 8 in 1981, I remember going to the local record store and buying the Men At Work album "Business As Usual" On the city bus going home, I read that album cover over and over... man this song takes me back!

I’m a Canadian who went to the land of aus in 1981 and this song was on the top of the charts and I loved it. The ultimate Aussie song. All these decades later I still love it and I love the Aussie spirit and Australia. Great memories of my youth in the land down under. 🇨🇦

I noticed that most of the audience seems to be under the age of 50. I think it’s great that there is a younger generation that appreciates this music. I had the good fortune of growing up in the 1970’s and 1980’s. What great times those were.

Man..this song was by my side my whole life. I remeber it since i was a young boy. My father used to play it on the stereo. Then as i grew up my high school, my first family man years. And now i play it for my son. Still puts me in a good mood anytime i hear it!

Men At Work was such a breath of fresh air back in the 1980's, and along with Crocodile Dundee, were awesome ambassadors from Australia to the world...Their debut album was an instant classic!

Excellent rendition of a great Aussie anthem by the man himself Colin Hay, absolutely awesome flute playing from the young lady too.
Just look at the smiles in the audience. I’m tearing up a bit as I watch and listen. My father grew up in Australia but I’ve never been able to visit - even so, this song makes me feel like my soul has a little bit of a place there.

My brain somehow filled in notes that you didn't play, and pieced together the original solo the first time through. Once I listened again, I was impressed with how seamlessly you blend the "new" solo with the feeling of the original. You're blessed with talent, and with the opportunity to have played with Colin. Beautiful soul is his.

Down Under was a sleeper until it became the anthem of the Australian Americas Cup challenge in 1983. After that, it saturated the airwaves here in Oz and has been one of our "unofficial anthems" ever since. Have been playing drums to this since then, so much so that my kids have a go at it too!! Thank you Gina, awesome performance!!!
