hey, have you heard of Holly Henry? She's a youtuber who is literally Luna personified. Holly looks like Luna, and sounds like her too (if Luna sang!) I'd suggest looking her up, shes very beautiful. I love Janet too though haha, and i'd totally agree with what you said.
Finally a Holly fan! she was also on the voice. Didn't get too far but I'm sure she saw it as a growing experience. ALSO Janet is a blonde. This is dye. Just fyi. No disrespect.
Both are beautiful versions, but there is a big difference between the two, in my opinion at least. The English version I can understand the song, because of the words. This version, I can understand the song, because I can FEEL it. That's what's beautiful about music. You don't NEED to understand what is technically "being spoken", to not feel the emotion behind it. Beautiful job on both songs. Love them and love you!
I totally agree. that's why I enjoy listening to music in foreign languages. you appreciate the feelings of the artist quite a bit. but her English version is just as moving but in a different way. :)
I can't understand a word, still this version has a different feel than the English one - I can't pick a favourite, but I this seriously gave me the chills.
love her voice in either language, don't you love it when she covers a song and nails it or you hear her do a cover of a song you've never heard before and then listen to the original and she does it better than the original artist? 64 yo from virginia usa. lve you , don't change , do your own thing.

Thanks for this, i was trying to figure out what she was saying as she pronounces her Aimsir Fhaisteanach different than in the south. took me foreber to figure out what cuidigh was
I speak Irish and to be honest this is my favourite version of the song because I relate to it and the background of Janet going to an Irish speaking school, I already know the lyrics off by heart but where I'm from we pronounce them wayyyy differently. MAITH THÚ JANET, TÁ SÚIL AGAM GO BHFUIL I MBARR NA SLÁINTE AGUS IS AOIBHINN LIOM RUNNING WITH SCISSORS 💗PLEASE PLAY A SHOW IN DUBLIN! GRÁIM THÚ, SLÁN GO FÓILL!!!!
jaysus i'm glad i found an irish person who knows this song. In 10 minutes i watched her audition for X factor, listened to most of her songs and made a videostar with her song. i am a great fan and 11 minutes ago i didn't even know her PS (i'm irish 2)
Even though I do not understand this version I much prefer it over the english version.. I love Celtic music maybe the added feature but I think not.. The way you present your music in your own quirky way I just adore.. Never change "YOU" or let anyone do so EVER.. You need to be you =)
It's younger speakers of Gaelic like Janet who will help keep this ancient Celtic language alive for future generations. I hope all of the Celtic languages will live on. May the Celtic spirit never die.
Love this. An enchanting experience of not knowing a word Janet's singing, but still understanding exactly what she has to say. In a way, this makes the song hit home more than hearing it in English.
Please, Janet, PLEASE make another Irish video. The language is so beautiful and calming when you sing it. I absolutely love this version better, even though I can only really understand the English version. But I think a lot of people would like it if you made another. Also, you singing this inspired me to try and learn, even very basic, Irish so I can learn how to properly pronounce everything. Have a good day, Ms. Janet!
Reminds me of the night I got in from the pub and Janet had posted saying she was doing Eurovision - immediately bet on Ireland to win before coming back to finish video to find out she was only jk - this song was a moment in time that would have seen that dream come true - maybe in an alternate universe out somewhere it is so 🎉
Please more songs in Gaelic. It may be selfish to ask for more from one gives so much beauty to this world but still your voice is rare light. I as many others would happily buy albums. The low flute is an excellent addition to such a beautiful song.
This song and your voice... it's a perfect match. This has the power to make me travel to a beautiful and mystical land where I can relax and just feel comfortable. Your voice warms my heart in such a special way!!! This is almost like a lullaby to me : )
Hector Martin Navarro Nope, but My dog looks exactly the same, that's why I took this photo Hehehe, they're like twinsies Even my dad thought that was my dog's picture haha
This is just beautiful, though I don't understand Irish I still listened to this a few times already because its' still the usual haunting, soothing, beautiful voice of Janet. Well done X
Although they're the same song, this version feels deeper. First time I heard it, it was the English/Gaelic version. When the Gaelic part started I got chills all over. I love it every time Janet surprises us at Stageits with his version. ❤ (Just realized it was released on my birthday)
I am a gigantic Celtic Woman fan. I have seen them live 3 times. You are the most beautiful music box. Children can only dream of heaven with your voice in their ears. J.
I had never actually heard the language and I had no idea it could be so beautiful. wow! I'd like to hear more in the language from this gal. Her voice combined with Gaelic really impressed me all the way over here in Montana
love this...my family like 4/5 irish and im learning irish online. also going in french next year for gr 7. YOU ARE LIKE A HUGE INSPIRATION TO ME thankyou.
There is something really special about Irish singers. They have elements in their voices that just pull, draw you near, make you FEEL. Like American blues, but not. It's a sweet sadness. The Blues is deep in tone, human, while Irish music is...well, it reminds me of all the fairie stories. So sweet they appeared and sounded but - que the American Blues. I'm not thinking U2. I'm, oh never mind. She sounds beautiful.
I am a huge fan of traditional Celtic music, listening to this just tugs at the heart. Happy St. Patrick's Day you wonderful human Bean you, and have a happy day.
Janet you are purely amazing in all you do.... and you're voice is enough to melt away the most simple of hearts. Have followed you since first seeing you for you're first TV appearance and all the shyness was heartfelt in itself, very pretty and stunning young lady.
This gave me chills and made me teary eyed. I didn't think it was possible for this song to get any better, but hearing you sing it in Gaeilge definitely made me feel the emotions more. Thank you Janet!
I must have heard Whiskey Lullabies a dozen times before I got my replacement hearing aids. I had not heard the winding up of the music box until then. This is one song you want to hear everything!
Wonderful! I love it, and you are really fantastic! The irish version is even more magical, and full of something more ancient, than the english version. And apart the song I like when I hear you singing because you know create something alive in your music, and it isn't always easy to find it. It seems the music is always inside you. I'm sorry for my english, I'm italian. But I had to write you something, because you struck me ;)
This song is so beautiful, and brings me such joy to hear. It's utterly amazing with your angelic voice. I can hear this song being played when Ireland finally unifies as a once torn people rejoice under unity and peace. Sending love from Scotland 💙💚
Lovely! And how awesome that you do this in Irish... Sometimes just because languages are spoken only in a small place in the world, doesn't mean that they should be left aside and forgotten. They give us something that we will not achieve speaking the main language of the country.
+Sunlan Foo let us ask for one to her, the more we are, the more we'll make ourselfs notice by her and therefor have a chance of having another song in Irish :P
Fabulous! I love the instrumentation that is missing from the English version and miss the other voices and counter melodies and the music box quietly closing it out. I've been playing Janet's CD for months with few breaks or until my grandchildren ask for something else. Just can't turn off the energy or the fun I find in this album!
I love this song so much I'm listening to it repeatedly on here until the Physical Single reaches my house. It's amazing that it can take me so far away, but still somewhere so familiar and warm. Very much like a lullaby indeed.
Dios mio. Wow you sing wonderfully in english and it usually makes me block everything out just to here you... but my god... you singing in irish... it just mesmerized me. That was absolutely amazing.
This is one of the most gorgeous melodies I have ever heard. I know you most likely won't see this mssg, but thank for sharing your lovely talent. God Bless you Janet.
I wish that before disliking something on youtube, you had to explain what is the matter cause i really dont seem to understand how anyone could dislike this song.
I have to say this, I already heard this music before but the Irish version I stumbled while searching on Itunes for Janet songs. And yes, because of this version I bought the album with the 2 songs. I really wish you luck and success with your career, it's not an easy life.
Her Gaelic is soft and beautiful! What a beautiful piece!
Lúcás Ó Daimhín tá gaeilge Laighean agam ach tá an ceann uladh go hiontach I go to a Irish school in Meath so I'm from Ireland I knew all the words
If Luna Lovegood was born a Weasley, she's so amazing!!!
if Luna had a child with a Weasley that child would be Janet, would it not :') xD not just for the red hair but her fun side too :)
There's a little Myrtle in there too. :) But y'all are right definitely like a Luna -- Weasley. :)
hey, have you heard of Holly Henry? She's a youtuber who is literally Luna personified. Holly looks like Luna, and sounds like her too (if Luna sang!) I'd suggest looking her up, shes very beautiful. I love Janet too though haha, and i'd totally agree with what you said.

This song gives me chills in English, Gaelic takes it to a whole new level.
I rarely buy music, but I bought this song. I would absolutely buy an all-Irish album from you, Janet.
+Niamh-Learns oh I know...please, make an all Irish album, janet....from the usa:)
I know the entire song and before this I never knew about this language!
I'd love to buy and all Irish album, from the Irish speaking community in Chicago :)

+Julia Cristo I like this version over the English version for some reason I can't explain, that perhaps you have for me :) .
You nailed it with this comment! I think everyone feels this way about it!
Very well said. I couldn't have said that better.
+Julia C. I've always thought the song is more beautiful if you don't understand the lyrics
I can't understand a word, still this version has a different feel than the English one - I can't pick a favourite, but I this seriously gave me the chills.
My vote is for more songs in Irish. Please!!!! Never heard any song more perfectly executed. Think I'm off to the iTunes Store now after hearing that.
cant agree more!!!!!

Dear lord, you have blessed us with this beauty. This wonderful enchantment. This amazing person.
This song would easily win Eurovision for Ireland. It's so beautiful

I am with tears so beautiful in a magical way with the Irish language and music
Despite not being able to make sense of the lyrics, it still gives me goose bumps...
I find this so hauntingly beautiful. It’s mesmerizing and emotional and so so beautiful. Gosh this is something special.

Swaddled in a mystical melody, Life is good.

I have to say this, I already heard this music before but the Irish version I stumbled while searching on Itunes
for Janet songs. And yes, because of this version I bought the album with the 2 songs.
The work behind it is great, and yes, I also don't know or understand Irish, but the entire song just felt perfect.
Hope to see more Irish versions in the future if possible.
I really wish you luck and success with your career, it's not an easy life.
