#DetroitPistons #Pistons #NBA
bobi actually said in one of his recent interviews that he played point guard when he was younger. he'd be a sure fire star if he had ron's or ausar's athleticism
#43 Jayce Johnson really stood out to me!!!! Also Bobi as well
I think Johnson was just the beneficiary of Klintman’s great dump offs. May be worth the 3rd 2-way to give a try out though since we are thin and injury prone at center
Holland has work to do before he get meaningful mins in the regular season.
You realize he was drafted by the Pistons and we won only 14 games last season. how many “meaningful minutes” do we have? He’ll see regular season action
Tobias, Ku, also improved his game with the Clippers, that's how he got his Bag!
Before the Pistons traded Tobias many wanted to trade him because he was expected to get paid as a FA. Harris continued to develop with the Clippers but not with any big leaps in production.
Ummm….its summer league..i wouldn’t care if they missed every shot…it means nothing
Ron also couldn't shoot in the G
That was one of the most passionate sell jobs for poor man's Paul George I ever heard 😂
Matas should have been the pick.
I would have gone Castle or Sheppard so really can't fault the Pistons for picking Holland. No clear pick at 5. Buzelis has a cocky attitude which could sink or swim him.
Holland was right pick

Matas was a better option. I would have traded back for Kel'el and a single 2nd round pick if that's all we could get.
But Ron wasn't a terrible gamble.
maybe ron is nursing a minor injury, hence the "rest
Ron had thumb surgery last winter and missed the end of the G season.
I have no reason to believe that contributed to the bad shooting but maybe Trajan knows something I don't?
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 yeah, it's speculation. No sense resting a healthy 19yr old, though. Maybe he tweaked something in practice or whatever
Ku hates Ron already
Holland will never have a good shot or effeciency . Another slasher. Worth a pick at 5. No.
@@sueyu3603 Holy fucking fuck this is so stupid. I am astonished that you can manage to work a keyboard.
Holland work in progress, athletic hustle player maybe ceiling kcp if he gets a jumper. Matas has more skill at this point , yall see the hezi, euro step lay? Wheew and kid seems to have some swagger, ceiling maybe a Brandon Ingram type. Just the summer league and a lot of growth to go, won’t know till 3-4 yrs who becomes the better player.
Holland's ceiling is Jaylen Brown. He is a way way way better athlete with the ball than KCP
Matas is less athletic so obviously he's more skill based. BI isn't a bad comp though. Matas definitely has flashed that kind of shot making.
Lol your crazy. Ingram has a handle and passing skills. Best case scenario Matas learns to shoot and becomes a taller Stew with more shot blocking.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 your comparing Matas to Isaiah Stewart ??? Haha , Stewart can’t dunk or take anyone off the dribble. What you watching ….?
@@FC-hr4ww your right about Stew being much better than Matas. But if Matas can learn to shoot and his defensive skills develop he could eventually be a better version of Stewart...
Rookies usually get compared to pros and Stew is a good comparison for Matas.

Face the facts Holland was a bad draft. Should of drafted Clingan.
Only time will be able to tell us
Is Clingan that much better than Duren?
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 if his mobility is just enough and his body holds up he's thrice the player Duren is. I had Holland at 13th, but Clingan is the only guy I was really afraid to miss on. We won't find another floor raiser like that anywhere else

@@jeramibanks3276 only one can be on the floor at a time and both are a bad fit with either Ausar or Ron.
I don't share the hype around Clingan as an elite defender let alone his ability to shoot threes. But I do think he will secure a spot in the NBA which I can't say about Ron.
#5 pick and cant play on this team… Bust smh. I think he gone play tho

He's a project that could be really good if he learns how to shoot
Why do people still think the 5th pick is always a day 1 starter? This idea is not based on reality
I really like Klintman's game
I never wanted to let Tobias go to begin with.
Klintman is the type of player Presti would draft. Really refreshing pick for this franchise. Trajan needs to find the best PG possible to help Ron in the g-league. He has to be better off--ball before he gets more on-ball reps
All these guys are the kinds of guys Presti would draft. Lol.
Bobi, Ron, Ausar, Ivey, Cade are all Presti type players.
Troy came from OKC. He has a similar scouting philosophy (traits/physical + personality > skills and upside > floor)
And Trajan seems to have the same philosophy. Toronto and Orlando do the same thing.
@@michaelahurt lol, you're so wrong. Presti improved drastically after Weaver's departure
@@rafaelsantana4905 Did he actually?
Dieng - miss
Tre Mann - miss
Trading Sengun - miss
Poku - miss
Giddey - miss
Trading Quickley - miss
He hit on Jalen Williams and I'll say Cason Wallace too because I like that pick. That's 2/8 outside the top 3. That's a drastic improvement?
Anyway his draft philosophy hasn't changed. Russ, Ibaka, Jeff Green, Jeremy Lamb, Reggie Jackson, Terrance Ferguson, Perry Jones, Andre Roberson -- it's the same as the above. Guys like Dort, Wiggins and J-Will are similarly toolsy prospects
80% of the time he's just taking the longest most athletic guy without paying much attention to shooting ability or skill level
Which is exactly what Detroit has done the last 4 drafts
@@michaelahurt wth, those 2 groups of players are totally different from each other. Presti moved on from the toolsy athletic type to high IQ, dribble, pass, shoot as soon as Weaver was gone. Presti would never touch Ivey or Duren these days, ever
@@rafaelsantana4905 Except most of those guys couldn't shoot
It was still all about the physical profile and length. It's just that almost all players can dribble, pass, shoot now compared to guys 10-15 years ago
But Daigneault runs a very different offense from Brooks or Donovan so they do target ball handlers in a way they didn't need to when they had Russ and KD
Although Ivey would be perfect in their system. Duren -- well yeah they just don't use rim runners.
Hollands fit with our team is just not good. He has a lot of potential but he isn’t going to help the team this year. Completely agree with Ku he will be in the G league this year
Holland will never have a good shot or effeciency . Another slasher. Worth a pick at 5. No.
There is no “fit” for this team. We won 14 games, every player on the roster can lose their role here if someone better walks in the door. You don’t sacrifice upside on a premium pick to protect the role of a mid player
@@KingInTraining Ron is substantially worse than 10+ guys on the roster. If Ron doesn't learn to shoot he's worse than Killian Hayes, who at least provides elite passing with his defense.
If Ron learns to shoot he could be a star someday.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 dude he literally just turned 19. They didn’t draft him to be the player he’ll be this year they drafted him because he has all the tools and intangibles to be the best player available on the board. @@cordelldemattei5446 LMAO 🤣😂
The point you made about not having a point guard can also be used for Holland in the g League. The ignite didn't have a point either which forced Holland into a high usage role he shouldn't have been in. He is just 18. If Tobias couldn't shoot well for years then why are people giving up on him already? Absurd!
I think you're just hearing different sides of the fan base
Ron was a polarizing prospect because people disagreed on his shooting
But Tobias always profiled as a guy who _should_ be a good shooter. More similar to Matas.
We have to see how Fred changes his shot but Ron hasn't exhibited good touch which is really where the concern comes from as far as people who are locked in
@@michaelahurtif we had drafted Jerace Walker instead of Ausar, Ron would be more widely welcomed.
Ron is like Ausar but not as good. Having two wings who can't shoot is a problem. Continuing to have centers who can't shoot makes the fit even worse.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 100% agree about Jarace
The non-shooting center is irrelevant though so long as Cade is there. Shooting guards are best with downhill bigs, downhill guards are best with shooting bigs
@@michaelahurt What really matters at center is don't be dogshit fucking horrible on defense, which is why Duren is a very bad player.
We are seeing successful offenses built around both kinds of centers these days.
@@scottwickett1273 and yet they still managed to produce average to good defense when he got to play with decent perimeter defenders
Do you see klintman being somewhat similar to tayshaun Prince?
He's very unlikely to be that good an on ball defender. He doesn't have those kinds of movement skills
Think a much bigger Taurean Prince. Just a good quality forward who is a positive on both ends
Great comparison. Maybe even a slim chance at better passing.
But he could also make Kyle Singlar look good.
Good topics including the new Bobi and Tobi combo dropping this year! I am realistic that Klintman is young and may not play much, but he looks really good this summer.
Why is everyone so high on Tobias? Honestly this dude is on the decline. He’s been out of his prime for the last couple seasons. Might be a good vet but definitely not a difference maker on the roster.
I for one was very disappointed in that signing.
He's mid and we need mid. He's grossly overpaid though
So far Bobi looks more NBA ready than Ron Holland. To me he looks more NBA ready than any of young guys on the Pistons not named Cade. I know it summer league. I form opinions on what I see not on what they might become. I don't care where he was drafted.
Yeah he seems like a plug and play I do want to see his defense against better players but he looks great
The real question is.. is he better than Isaiah Livers? Or is the idea of Bobi better than the idea of Livers?
@@bensan9 true but that’s not saying much anyway because livers was bad
@@bensan9if he plays more than 4 games in a row, he’s miles ahead of Livers
Ron is a boom or bust project.
Bobi is a solid basketball player. Is he good enough to perform against NBA talent?
I have always liked Tobias and was really sad when we traded him. He looks like a really good person.
In todays age we seem to be to attached to stats and percieved value, we seem to miss some more nuanced forms of greatness. Tobias looks like a really humble man, he's very professional, he knows who and what he is, he has appreciation for the team AND the city. I really can't see a downside to his signing.
While Tobias has a few haters, most of the complaints come from people like me who want two players as good or better than Tobias. Or at least some young veterans with major upside.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 Yes, it was a horribly stupid signing, they definitely could have gotten two players who are better than him with what they spent on him plus the remaining cap space.
Disagree with Ron in the G League. I think he will play 15-20 minutes off the bench.
Over who?
Cade: 34
Ivey: 30
Harris: 28
Tech: 28
Ausar: 24
Beasley: 20
THJ: 14
Duren: 32
Reed: 16
Stew: 18
That's already 244 minutes out of only 240. Not sure who you think Ron is gonna play over.
He'll play when Ausar is out. That's about it
Bad teams rarely send top ten picks to the G. I expect 15-20 minutes a game on a team that doesn't expect to win 30 games.
there's no place and no need for that. Leave the kid alone and let him develop his fundamentals and add some muscle. He's 19
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 so who isn't playing from the above then?
@@michaelahurt probably Reed but who knows how things will shake out. I would send Ron to the G but the optics of a top ten pick not cracking the rotation for a team that isn't likely to win 30 games will be tough for a coach to ignore.
So, Ku avoided the elephant in the room, which is why did Trajon draft Holland over Buzelis? It seems obvious Buzelis is far more ready to play NBA basketball and its not like the Pistons need yet another "athlete" to develop in the G Leauge. I hate the constant refrain that Holland is "relentless." It is supposed to be a positive that he is totally wild in traffic and in attempting to finish? He looks like a highschool kid on the playground (which is close to what he is). I agree about Klintman. But, had the Pistons drafted Buzelis (a far better version of the same) they could have used the Klintman pick to meet another need (e.g. point guard).
You still draft Klintman in that spot. Why draft Ajay Mitchell when you just drafted Sasser?
But he drafted Holland because he has more upside and is a better athlete.
Buzelis might have played a little more for us just because he's a 3/4 not a 2/3 but he would have been in the G-League too
It's not like Buzelis was any more efficient than Holland last year. It looks different but it's the same results
And I'm saying that as someone who has liked Buzelis more the entire process
Matas was ahead of Ron on my draft board because he is a taller version of Ron. Neither can shoot or pass.
Bobi is the opposite of both. Bobi has actual skill but lacks the extreme athleticism. Many guys like Bobi can't compete in the NBA while others find success.
both put on bad (but promising) tape in the g-league. No way to treat Matas as a can't miss prospect
@@rafaelsantana4905 there are very few can't miss guys but I do think Matas is much safer
I think basically every problem he has is strength related -- including his shot -- and considering he has already been able to add muscle, it's only a matter of time before he's 230-235
Whereas Ron is just very raw in pretty much every area.
@@michaelahurt I disagree. Matas has a more interesting skill set, but Ron is your prototypical two-way wing. If he hits, we are going to contend
Like the video y'all
100% about Tobias
Guys be patient with Ron, meanwhile the future of rest of the young cores in question and we have been waiting for years to see a decent product on the floor. Hated the pick on draft day and still hate it, and now I’m being told he’s going to be in the G league hahaha a top 5 pick on a rebuilding team is going to be stuck in the G all year haha
I loved the pick, and still do. I would have taken him at #1 if picking there.
@@scottwickett1273over Castle who's basically Ron with good passing skills?

I thought Sasser was going to absolutely dominate the Summer League 🤦🏿♂️.. I was wrong
Totally agree. He’s playing like he feels insulted they made him come. If he doesn’t improve he may find himself not playing at all. Jenkins has looked better than him.
Most NBA players don't show off in the Summer League. Instead they focus on developing a skill that isn't NBA ready. Sasser is working on passing.

I knew we should've drafted matas
Superior size, feel, IQ, ball handler, passer, shooter
Ugh
Nope.
It's still early. If you liked Matas more pre-draft you're still going to like him more.
Matas isn't a good passer or three point shooter. Hard to guess if either player develops.
But I favored Matas because he is taller and might become a backup center if he doesn't learn to shoot.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 Too skinny to play center.
@@scottwickett1273 I think Chet was even skinnier on draft day. Sometimes guys add significant muscle.
Ku, just want to add two thing from watching the SL.
1) Yes, the point play has been poor, but they aren’t getting much help. No screener Ari es until 11 or 12 seconds left on the shot clock and very little movement away from the ball. PG can’t beat his guy solo and draw defenders every time. Not an excuse for poor play, just an observation. They should give up on Sasser as point and see more what Jenkins can do.
2) while Klintman has been great in the SL, he is going to have to get better at finishing at the rim. Every drive is looking for the dish. In the big boy league guys will pick up on this quickly and not double and all those beautiful dump off passes suddenly become turnovers. I want to see him finish strong at the rim (not alone on a break away) a few times before the end of SL
If he was athletic enough to finish at the rim, he wouldn't have lasted into the second round.
@@scottwickett1273 I think he just needs to put on some muscle. He gets there for the nice passes to the center when the double comes. A little bigger and he can power through and either get to the line or get the and 1.
Why criticize good decision making. I love that Bobi sees the double team coming and gets the ball to the open player.
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 because when he never finishes the double won’t come and the result will be a turnover. It’s only good decision making if he can both finish or drop the pass, otherwise it is just predictable.
@@cordelldemattei5446 it's bad decision making to try to finish through a double team. While he should improve as a finisher with experience and more strength, that's a long term area of development. Initially he just needs defense to go with his 3% to crack the rotation.
Cade can finish through a double team and pass well. But that's a rather high expectation for a 2nd round pick.
I don’t have a problem with the idea of drafting players who need development.
I absolutely have a problem with the Detroit Pistons drafting players who need development, when I can’t think of a single player in the past 20 years, they have successfully developed.
