Shad I've just finished your book and BY THE LIGHT IT IS FANTASTIC! It is easily my favourite book of the year by far, everything about it is just so incredible from character building, world building, the magic system (personally I think Brandon Sanderson himself would weep at the brilliance of that hard magic system) and even the dialogue! You better not take 2 years to get the sequel out or I'll have to lay siege to your house to get the draft!

Good news is, that if it even arrives towards the beginning to mid August, my birthday is on the 15th and this would make it perfect timing, so I'd say the odds are more on the winning side for me! The bit about depression setting in because you've put your dreams on hold really rings true. I'm glad Shad managed to persevere and make it work regardless. This shows a great mindset for any aspiring creatives trying to improve their craft. Be patient, be willing to sacrifice and keep practicing. Work at it everyday. Congratulations from a long time fan ^_^
Shad, I'm not sure what to say. I want to say congratulations, but I don't think that that's enough. I have seen so many videos before where you briefly talked about this book, and saw you receive your replica of the blue sword. I can tell that this means so much to you, and to us. Excellent job on accomplishing this, Shad. This is amazing.
Im an aspiring writer as well. I just wanna say that this is awesome man. I've gotta admit that sometimes I just wanna give up, but this shows me that you should never give up on your dreams. Also, thanks alot for teaching me about more realistic medieval settings. I'll be sure to pick up a copy and dive into your book.
I too am an aspiring author, however, i have a real problem with motivation and/or drive. I tell myself "I'm gonna do this!" and when i choose to do so i lose said motivation faster than a water bucket with holes. I personally don't think it has to do with about how much i want it, its just I feel a loss of motivation almost as if i don't want to do it... its really hard to describe, even though shad's video is very inspiring and encouraging i might just fail to gain said motivation.
This happens to everyone in any medium. Don't give up on your writing. I wish you the best of luck as I kind of always wanted to be a writer, but I know I am more of an abstract kind of person.
Made me cry a bit there. My work just told me today that I’ll be doubling my workload and I’m so close to finishing my book. Shad, you have no idea how much I relate to you on this. Thank you for making this video. It has inspired me to recommit and re-focus on my dreams. Thank you!
He'd probably have had to make it contextually make sense, like attackers noticing the enemy castle has them. A soldier would shout "Don't go to close to the walls! They have *MACHICOLATIONS!!!!!"*
I was thinking that should be his trademark. In every book at least one person should yell Machicolations!!!!!!! completely randomly. And Shad, I feel that the emotions you feel and display in this video is the most authentic real emotions I've seen in youtube. We are all very proud of you. Edit: WoW all 5 star reviews on amazon! :) :) :)

Congratulations on getting your novel published Shad. For all the people watching this, let this be one of THE best examples of having your dream fulfilled and knowing that your dreams will also be fulfilled as well. I’ll be sure to download the e-book when I can. Congratulations again shad.
10:42 this part of the video inspired me. I always sort of knew that if your going to achieve your dream your going to have to constantly be working towards it but the way you specifically said it and the fact that your just a generally enjoyable, respectable, and charismatic person to watch really made me feel both motivated to work harder on my personal goal and made me feel kind of like shit because I knew I was slacking off without achieving anything towards my major goal for days to weeks on end and because of that I decided to make a rule for myself that every day I would at least do something productive towards my big goal and for the past weak or so since I watched this video I have been doing this And sticking to it. It feels great to constantly work towards something on a daily basis, i feel like my goal is much more attainable because of it. This video and specifically this part really helped me work harder.
I work in a Barnes & Noble DC(B&N being the major book retailer of the U.S.A.) and I saw your book on our shelf like a week ago, thought it looked pretty sweet. I didn't even realize the name of the author on it. Super proud of you man way to make it happen, and I'm definitely adding it to my library. I'll read it when I finish off with Michael Scott's Secrets of the Immoral Nicholas Flamel series. I've meant to read these books for ages, missed the age group a bit at this point but they're still a solid read. Excited to dive into the world of Everfall next. I just hope it's not as labyrinthian as it was in Dragon's Dogma!
Finished the book. I’m willing to place Shad’s writing as of equal or better quality to the long established Terry Brooks (of Shannara fame). Dialogue is believable and descriptions are detailed but don’t descend into long winding flourish. It’s good that the descriptions weren’t too long, cause I never want to see something like the page long monstrosities found in The Hobbit. I’ll like to warn anyone younger than about fifteen that the book’s subject matter is mature (thematically relevant considering the society depicted), (so you shouldn’t go breeze through it like all the fourteen year olds with the Hunger Games). While some character’s responses towards certain criminal activity depicted in the book might seem extreme towards modern sensibilities. In the end, I think the written punishments were justified within the context of the society created by Shad. The setting is very believable (in terms of how well it comes together), and the plot doesn’t feature blatant Deus Ex Machina’s (for solving problems of the protagonist) that sometimes plague other fantasy books. Some end reveals are truly surprising. I rated it five stars on iBooks, and will be eagerly waiting for The Chronicle’s of Everfall 2. I wonder if the mystery concerning the relation between the “ceiling” and “bottom” of the world will be answered in the future.
I congratulate on finally achieving your dream. I hope you continue this path you have followed for 12 years and continue succeeding. I will buy the book and I am going to read the book as soon as it arrives. Amazing youtuber.

I'm almost 25, and last year I graduated in engineering. The fact is, I found no way to be happy with the path I was following, and that brought me to the edge of depression. So, I left the road I was on to pursue the dream of becoming a game designer. I'm still working on it, it will take years of hard work, and I don't know if I'll ever achieve my goals, and that is so frightening . So, Shad, thank you so much for sharing this moment of your life. I got pretty emotional, but it also gave me a lot of motivation. You live on the other side of our planet, and yet I felt so close to you. I sincerely wish you all the best, my friend. Your work deserves it. You deserve it.
You know Shad, 12 years ago I wanted to become an author. I was eight years old and started reading books and after... I believe it was the book Eragon, yes I think that was it. After Eragon I wanted to do the same thing as Christopher Paolini. Well of course you have a lot of dreams when you are eight, I mean I also wanted to become a politician and a chemist and working with cars and... There were a lot of dreams, but I never give up on becoming an author. I am happy for you, that you managed to, achieved your dream. That shows me, that everything is possible if you are believing in your self and keep on going. Sadly your book needs two weeks, before I can hold in my hands, but I am looking forward to read it.
Congratulation, Shad! This is very inspirational to see someone who had such a big dream, never gave up and achieved it. The tenacity and ambition to keep doing because you believed in yourself is truly inspiring. I hope your book becomes a global bestseller, and I hope that castle you build reaches the heavens.
Much the same, receiving my teaching certification in Karate was a long process. The amazing thing about it was realizing that achieving that dream was the doorway to a life defining passion, with constant new goals. I have seen so many videos before where you briefly talked about this book, and saw you receive your replica of the blue sword. I can tell that this means so much to you, and to us. Excellent job on accomplishing this, Shad. This is amazing.
I choked up and cried when you pulled the book out. Congrats, man! Can't wait to read it.
Genuinly heartwarming video, I'm honestly glad for you you've managed to achieve your goal.
That sigh and that giggle that you let out, as you were unraveling the book, tells us 90% of the happiness that you feel. I congratulate you, sir.
Awh man you made me cry. I'm super proud of you, Shad. I'll be buying as soon as I can. You're worth it.❤️
I teared up when he saw it for the first time
MACHICOLATIONS!!! *excitedly bangs axe and shield together*
God damn yo !! That's one hell of a god damn unboxing video. Congratulations brother !
@@AvariceOverlord thanks!
@@gandalftheantlion Trust me man you can do whatever you set your mind to.
@william crow i know that lesson quite well.
Alright. You're positive and incredible news have pushed me. I want to be right behind you. I'm going to read your book. And I'll write my own.
Well, I wish the best of luck to you on that, my man.
May fortune favor you along your new path.
Made me cry a bit there. My work just told me today that I’ll be doubling my workload and I’m so close to finishing my book. I’m still not sure what exactly I should do, but man, I really appreciate hearing your story. And yes, Shadow of the Conqueror will be my next audiobook. Thank you and congratulations to you, man.
I hope things worked out for you man
A truly beautiful moment. A dream complete! How many people can say that?! Marvelous work and I can’t wait to read it!
Hey, Shad, this is incredible. I really like your content. I hope this sells well. I can't get the physical copy in Canada, but I really really really want to put it on my bookshelf.
If you visit the Canadian amazon site it should be available and with the local shipping costs.
What? I just ordered the paper back in japan how are you not able to buy in canada
As an aspiring author myself and having spent more than several years writing and pushing forward, I find your passion and determination quite inspiring, congrats on your hard work, man!
I will say that, I dont like when people say "aspiring". Dude you're an author!! If you are writing, and you love it, you are an author! If you are drawing and you love it, you are an artist! If you play music, you are a musician! Sorry had to get that off my chest. Anyway woohoo go write
Congratulations Shad can’t wait to read bet it’s a real page turners
in Syria buying books or anything from the internet is so hard but i will try my best to read this novel because you deserve it and from your videos that i've seen i believe it's gonna be awesome
You wanna build a castle?! I'm a civil engineer, I've designed structures and foundations for airports, hospitals, you name it. But a castle? I would very seriously design that for free (wink wink)
We need more people with practical skills that have enough free time to collaborate with others to make art happen. Be it books or castles.
DO
Congratulations shad. Long time fan.....you deserve this. You also shed more light on the lds Church to me. Thank you.
Is Shad a follower of the church of the later day saints? Sorry for the question, but you woke my interest
@@mambojambo4870 I believe he is
@@mambojambo4870 yes, he talks about it when he talked about crests, and in his video about remodeling a sword from the book of Mormons, I can't remember what it's called
@@Resters52_official It's the sword of Laban.
He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints
I know that face from when jazza had a chance to renovate his shed... and now his brother shad makes the same face when he sees what he has accomplished... It is truly a beautiful face. :3
This video...just seeing the genuine joy in his eyes, really made me happy. It's so true: being able to see the fruits of ones labor and achieve something so important...it's such a lovely thing to share with others, especially since we're often surrounded by so much negativity.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm not lying when I said it really made me smile.
"Holding MY Novel"
Not anybody else's novel specifically, but definitely yours.
Still contemplating between just getting the e-book or waiting for the audio book so I can listen to it while I drive! As a trucker, I spend a LOT of time driving!
Splash out and get both ;)
Just finished it and man that was a BLACKING good book! It Had an amazing hard magic system that was really fun to learn about with the mc (exploding feet) which was refreshing to the common BELIEVE IN YOURSELFFF "system" that you find everywhere. The world is incredible and unique too with soooo much depth to it and I cant even imagine how much work that must've been to put it all together, but let me tell you BY THE LIGHT! it was worth it. So thank you so much for this amazing read and keep writing cause the world needs more well written stories with adventure and SWORDS!!
and to anyone who hasn't read it and likes high fantasy...do it
Dude the references are killing me
So happy for you Shad
Maybe also Overly Sarcastic Productions and Hello Future Me (who also resently brought out his own book). They are more literary focused and he has collaborated with them before.
And cheers from more Dutch people.
Don't forget the Metatron and Scholagladiatoria.
Shad, you have no idea how much I relate to you on this. Thank you for making this video. It has inspired me to recommit and re-focus on my dreams. Thank you!
When you open that package, I start to cry - really! I was never in my entire life so happy for someone!
Anything in life worth having never comes for free. Congratulations on publishing your book!
Shad i hope this becomes a best seller
Isn't there a saying that says "Great art is never finished, only abandoned" That's awesome! Definitely going to get it on Audible!
Not buying if a character doesn't shout machicolations in all caps.
Pyryp2 but what about DRAGONS?
🤣🤣🤣
Lest we not forget about SWORDS!!!!
I would say congratulations, but I feel like that cheapens all the hard work you put into this. Great work.
As an aspiring novelist myself, this video was so inspiring and I can empathize so much with your joy. Congratulations!
Congrats! I'm literally doing the EXACT same thing as you right now. Started my video essay channel to practice writing scripts&follow my dream of living off creative works (going ok so far but growing)&so I can build a built‐in audience so that when my brother and I release the series we've been writing our whole lives people will definitely read them.
Build it! Build that castle! You amazing gambeson wearing jolly faced dream achiever! Congratulations, Shad. :)
SEND IT TO DANIEL GREENE!! You guys can collab over it!!
Seeing your genuine happiness filled me with my own
My dad absolutely loves the wheel of time series so I think this would be a perfect Christmas gift for him. I'll totally support you
Finished the book.
Thank you *so much* for your review, it means the world to me that you liked it. I'm on cloud nine at the moment.
With Shads abilities in the worldbuilding sector I can't help but wonder if that is the first installment of something really epic?
I'm from 2119 and Shad's fanbase is greater than Warhammer, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fanbases combined
@Ubeogesh but did you bring any of his future works with you?
I congratulate on finally achieving your dream. I hope you continue this path you have followed for 12 years and continue succeeding. I will buy the book and I am going to read the book as soon as it arrives.
Amazing youtuber.
Congratulations, man! I'm happy for you!
Someone from TH-cam who didn't write shit book about himself, but actually a novel. i'm impressed. I gonna buy it if it is accessible in my country, amazon is a bit pricey, shipping will cost more than book itself
Ebook if you're worried about shipping
@@TomFranklinX I hate ebooks, I only read physical books.
Just ordered my own copy! I've been sitting on a novel idea for a year or two and I really want to get back into it!
Yo man go for it!
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTT!!
Same my dude, although for less time. I've mostly just been thinking about the main themes and how to even start it. How about you?
"Everyone that is watching this, don't give up on your dreams"- just DO IT!
Sorry, I had to. 😌
I'm so happy for you Shad, I feel you. I hope I can do the same, keeping at my work for my dreams. 😊
But tbh, I needed this motivation. Thank you.
Edit: Omg, thank you for the heart. 😍
Bought. Boom! Will place your paperback next to my Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan collection on the bookshelf.
Shad, I'm really proud of you. You worked so hard for this moment and it's finally happening, that's incredibly awesome! I pre-ordered the printed version and I cannot wait for it to arrive, I know it's already going to be an absolutely legendary tale, cheers to you mate. 🐲🗡🐲🗡🐲
Thanks for sharing this, I could sense that satisfaction you felt once you saw your book. What a moment!
I'm almost 25, and last year I graduated in engineering. The fact is, I found no way to be happy with the path I was following, and that brought me to the edge of depression. So, I left the road I was on to pursue the dream of becoming a game designer. I'm still working on it, it will take years of hard work, and I don't know if I'll ever achieve my goals, and that is so frightening
.
Congrats Shad and thank you for sharing. I look forward to hearing the audiobook version.
Congratulation, Shad!
This is very inspirational to see someone who had such a big dream, never gave up and achieved it.
I have been watching your videos throughout the year to help with the world-building of my own graphic novel
To see you achieved your dream is incredibly motivating!
I'll be waiting for the e-book to hear Michael Kramer's sexy voice :v
Again, congrats man!!!
Can't wait to hear you on Writing Excuses. Congratulations Shad, I'm happy for you.
Many fathers dont even feel half that happy for seing their sons the first time XD ( many mothers neither) it was very good to me to see you on this video, good luck on everything Shad!
Congrats Shad. We, your loyal fanbase, will support you no matter what. An we celebrate your succes today! Hooray!
God I've never smiled so much at a video in my life.
I'm doing a review on this book asap. I'm excited to read it!
Well said Shad. So few people understand what it takes to realize self actualization, the ability to perceive one's potential and work to make it a reality.
I hope for fantastic sales and response to the book, and for goals that always keep you moving forward.
I LOVE YOU, YOUR AMAZING!
I actually started squealing when you liked my post, I love your content, and I am committed to buying this book once I get the money! Can't wait!
In my 4 years of TH-cam this is the second video that ever made my favorite video playlist. Thank you man!
SOO EXCITED!!!! Be happy Shad, you've earned it!
Watching through the 15 second ad just to support you in the only way I can.
*Also, congratulations!! You are a living inspiration to every aspiring writers out there!*
I can't wait for the follow-up video for the second book!
as a pipe-dream novelist myself, I'm thrilled for you man! Congratulations! I'm looking forward to reading it
