Rugby late 50s Drive

  • This is an extract from a family Cine film, probably taken on the late 50s. Shot by my dad it shows a drive from his parents' house in Dunchurch Road, down Sheep Street, past a policeman on point duty(!), down North Street and past the newly-built town hall. It ends with a shot of my grandmother, who I remember well, who was born in 1889!

    Must be early to mid 1960s as the almshouses were demolished in 1961 (where the tower crane is) and the town hall was also built in the early 1960s.

    So strange to think the forked walking area in the middle of town used to be fully functioning roads

    There is a mini van so early 1960s .
