Nice to see both my mains at 1 & 2. Although for me personally, I find genji to probably be the hardest character in the game. I just can't hit a thing with his shurikans and I lose track of everything when blading.
@@Htiyow do you improve your aim, I haven't played OW2 since launch but in ow1 I was always gold or silver (I reached plat once in a 5 stack but I kinda got carried a bit.) I know there is a lot I could improve on in overwatch but my aim is definitely one of biggest things to improve because if I'm going against genji or some other hard to hit character I just miss most of my shots, in other games my aim isn't perfect but it's good enough but in overwatch it's harder because you can't ads with most characters and a lot of the characters move so fast and in ow the hitboxes outside tanks are quite small in general. I'm a console player if that's relevant on how I can improve my aim. I'm asking you since you went from having bad aim to reaching masters so I think you can understand the situation I'm in.
Tracer is the character that got me interested in Overwatch to begin with, my most played by far, and the one I almost always have fun playing as. I am nowhere near mastering her infinite skill ceiling 😂 My personal top 5 would be 1:Echo 2:Ana 3:Tracer 4:Ball 5:Doomfist But I don’t regret being a Tracer main in the slightest
The craziest part about getting good at characters is that some come very naturally to you and others don't at all. I don't play a lot of tank anymore but when I did, Winston was easy for me to pick up and keep pace with friends in masters/gm. On the other hand, characters like ana, Sombra, and a few others were really difficult to learn to play even half decently.
I think Bap is a sleeper pick for somewhere on the lower end (i.e. around the 10th spot) because of how insanely high his APM and mechanical ceiling can be. Anyone can shoot shoot heal a tank with your team in front of you. But in a chaotic fight where you have to flick around it gets pretty tricky. Not to mention if on top of this you're hitting headshots and direct nades it becomes even harder. I would say Bap is forgiving to learn because you still have great value without being optimal. You can hit ground nades and body shots with suboptimal rhythm and still win many fights. And you don't get punished for mistakes as easily. But mastering his mechanics to have the optimal value is insanely hard...and rightfully so because if he was always doing 150 headshot damage per primary fire burst and hitting directs on every heal he would be the most broken support in the game.
Maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit but I think Bap is stupidly easy to carry as no matter how chaotic the fights get. You just jump around with the boots and avoid everybody (or don't if they have solid hitscan/snipers). Just don't think it's hard to balance the dmg/healing either. I think he's a joke with his high healing potential, solid burst hitscan dmg, burst regen and immort field
@@Icyfire25 I don't think it's hard to balance damage and healing in certain contexts or even doing it effectively enough to consistently climb. We're talking about mastery here. Are you literally always hitting all three rounds of your burst as headshots? Are you 100% of the time hitting directs? Because being able to MASTER hitting all the weird shots you can get while making them optimal is hard af and currently I have yet to see a Bap hit the mechanical peak of the character. But thankfully, he is so op in other ways that yes he is an easy character to climb with. But there IS a distinction between ease of wins and mastery.
Hes hitscan with a litteral immortality field and some of the best mobility in the game, a decent bap is nearly unkillable plus his heals are just a junkrat bomb but for healing, hes definitely not on the easier side but to compare with the ones on this list is nuts lol, I personally think all supports should excluded from this list because of how easy support is in general and I'm honestly probably a support main, if not I'm a flank main but I play every support and only play tracer and echo in the dps category so I wouldnt say in bias lol But supports can sort of just heal bot and lean on their team for alot of the match, and as you climb higher this actually happens more and more because your teammates become more dependable. as support you bring massive utlity but your utlity is mostly reliant on your team which really cuts your impact on fights when compared to dps and tanks since if the dps or tank mess up then your utlity is voided but just use your utlity right and alot of the time you'll just sorta get by 😂 especially since support is supposed to watch each others backs which really makes it easy when compared to tank where you have the weight of the whole game on your shoulders or flank where you're a solo act most the game, but support is still harder then the actual dps characters in dps, just not flank which should be it's own sub category.
@@jasonmension3979 I think this is a semantics argument about the word "mastery." Your argument is that Bap has some insanely powerful abilities so he can't really get on this list. But mastery is about getting the full value out of your kit, like complete and utter optimization. And so my argument hinges on that--a perfect Bap that is hitting nothing but insane headshots (not to mention getting headshots with all 3 bullets which is extremely hard) and DIRECT (I'll say it again) heals. Anyone can hit floor splash heals but direct heals do way more and are not easy to hit consistently, especially on flying characters or high mobility ones like tracer and genji. Bap doesn't need to be hitting directs to win or do well, but for mastery he does. If you want your argument to make sense, you need to estbalish that mastery is the same as a character being easy. A character can be really easy to do well with while also being difficult to master. From what I've seen, Junk is a good example of this where he's braindead at many levels but top 500 Junks are playing 4D chess. Partially agree on Supports being easier than other roles but that's because I think Supports have the highest concentration of strong characters of any role. This is because Blizzard put more effort into "balancing" them at the beginning of OW2. It's also why the hero release schedule they have has more emphasis on Supports since it's the category with the fewest heroes.
@@jamesburnett3594 if you're going by mastery then bap falls even further behind because mastering a hero like sombra or sym in the highest teirs of play is much much harder then bap, even torb become a difficult hero to play, forcing you to become a masterful tactician with his turret. Honestly a weird thing happens where everyone's so mechanically inclined in the higher ranks that the difficult heros to make work do to their limitations in what you can actually achieve through mechanical skill, start to become more skillful to play but people dont say they're more skillful, because at the end of the day they simply just have more limitations and someone wouldnt say its skillful to hammer a nail into the wall using a stick opposed to a hammer, impressive maybe but it's not as useful or skillful as just learning that perfect way to hit the nail everytime. And bap is bascially in the middle, hes not over the top mechanically, making him have a nearly endless skill roof like tracer, genji, echo, ball and doom and he isnt held back by some cheesy gimmick like turrets or cc, forcing his base kit to be butchered, making him hard to use in the higher ranks, hes just middle of the road, which isn't bad, hes still a skillful hero but to try and count him amongst the top is nuts when the top heros have litteral endless skill ceilings that even the best players probably haven't even scratched the surface of lol
Not necessarily since ur ult is used to farms ult from whoever she copies as long as she stays alive and does some type of Damage she gains ult and uses it
I'm surprised Genji was as high as 6 and higher than Echo. Once you have the muscle memory to do a 180 and have any experience on projectile = you mastered Genji. Echo actually has movement tech and invulerability frames on ult that you can use to avoid cooldowns.
genji actually requires alot of game sense that other characters like echo, tracer, sombra don’t because they’re abilities make up for it. u have to time almost every engagement on genji because u have no way out echo has fly on 6 sec cooldown nd two lives with ult, sombra has tp, tracer can reset engagements with recall, but genji has nothing except wall climb nd jump which just make u a easier solution target because if u use dash to engage (which is 90% of his dmg unless u hit headshots) ur stuck their unless u get a kill and most of genjis most divable targets ironically have a way to counter him so then ur forced to time ur engagements, watch cooldowns, plan a way out of the situation things no other character has to worry about as much. combining this with his paper star dmg and dry blade being one of the hardest ults to use he becomes a really hard character the only dps i’d say is harder to master is tracer
As a Genji main I can tell you that 180 muscle memory and projectile experience = you mastered 10% of Genji. To get value out of Genji you have to have great awareness (tracking ults and cooldowns, ect.), very good map knowledge, high reaction time, insane tracking for things like blade and dash combos, top tier mechanical skill, and just a ton of experience to know when to engage and how to play around your current team. Plus since like half of the characters in ow2 counter him, you have to be good enough to still fight them even if you are getting constantly slowed, stunned, lasered, 1 shot, theres just so much into learning Genji that no other hero needs to deal with.
Lets not forget that echo can have any kitt and Ult but Genji has a sword that hits like a pool noddle and lets not forget about Mei Moira Zarya Sym and winston who makes his kitt useless
@@gamerman6494people who dont play genji dont understand how a genji player has to completely change his playstyle depending on not just the enemy comp but also his own team comp. not many characters have to completely change their entire gameplay style and decision making to the degree that genji does
@@astral9807genji has a dash that resets on kills, and an ability that makes it where he cant get hit by 90% of projectiles in game. He has every escape and survivability option available to him?
Thank you for the video, coach! How about a video on heroes that seem easy but are harder than they look? Or vice versa, they look hard but they're rather simple if you follow some basics?
Idk how you could ever place Ana and Kiriko above the skill of Dva, Ball and Genji. To me I was easily able to climb because most of their skills carry over with other heroes whereas Dva, Ball and Genji almost have very little transferability in their role.
How does Kiriko's skill carry over? Her playstyle and mechanics are competely unique. Also it's possible you have more aptitude for her naturally than you do those other heroes. That and she is easily the strongest hero of all those other heroes as well. But there's a difference between a character being strong and easier to climb with and difficulty in mastering. I'm a flex Support player and I've found it really easy to climb with Bap because of his solo carry potential and he's frankly secretly kinda op. But I've found him more difficult to master because of how high his APM can be and how there's always more value to get if you hit headshots and direct nades. I am biased since Kiriko is my second best hero after him but I think the distinction between climbing vs. mastery is important.
I play Ana, Zen, Rein, Sigma, Genji, Soldier. It’s almost a completely unbiased take from me. I play more Ana and Kiri than I ever have for Dva or Ball. And those 2 are easily way more difficult
As someone who recently picked up tracer but am in high bronze low silver (never started playing until a few months ago) I can confirm she is the hardest character I’ve ever tried to play
I'm a support main and I always thought baptiste is incredibly difficult to master. To justify the pick on masters and above you need to constantly weave damage and healing. But you also have to stand on angles for big healing splashes, and your weapon has immediate recoil. For whatever reason he has always been super difficult for me to justify over picking ana or kiriko.
So i want an explanation, last week i played a lit of ranked at 5-5 and worse i of course derank but at 5-3 and 5-4 i stay. Didn't have any better runs so far, i carry lobbies in SILVER, i am being reported for smurfing that i am not doing. It just feel imposible to climb no matter what i do, my friend that im playing with got plat on all roles despite having same stats as me, at 5-5 and 5-4 he usually stays and on higher he ranks up.
I would argue ball. as the hardest insane aim, knowing and exucuting all the techs whenever you need them all of the doom players I have talked to all agree that ball is harder and is the hardest to fully master the mental of. This is from a low masters doom main who dabbles in tracer and genji
I'm an ex Ball main but he's not the hardest hero in the game because compared to other heroes his HP pool and mobility are too forgiving, ESPECIALLY in the metal ranks. I do think #5 is a good spot for him tho
Winston: -Just explains the gameplan of almost every tank in the game, but because its no-aim Winston its somehow more skill heavy ??? Ah yes, making space, being aware of your team, and knowing when to engage, truly Winston unique problems.
The problem is it’s much harder to do on Winston. Easy to play at low ranks hard to fully master and play at high ranks. Also I know you can’t juggle so shush.
@@shadowofsecracy you have no idea how hard it is to dive things on Winston and get value. Bubble placement is huge, juggling is huge, the game sense is huge, the melee jump pack tech. I guess every pro who says Winston is the hardest tank and has the highest skill ceiling is wrong. Surely @shadowofsecracy is right and the pros are wrong. Get out of bronze before you type you fucking dumbass.
Try winston. Play him for like 30-50hrs and see how many mistakes you make. It's super hard in terms of gamesense but also primal is the most mechanically challenging ult.
@@totallunatic547 Ok but the question I keep asking: Why is his game sense supposedly harder than other tanks who have to do the same thing but have to actually angle their shield or might not be super mobile or both, why can no Winston defender answer that question? And I have played Winston. His ult alone doesn't justify top 10 imo when the rest of his kit is easier than most the roster.
You could say I love a challenge.... seeing as 3 of my mains showed up on this list 🤣🤣and two of them are the hardest (on this list) to master rofl! I've just always loved Ana and been playing her for awhille now, but most of it was on console where I was hard stuck low Masters. Now on PC I've been hardstuck (my own fault) in mid to low Plat. My other 2 that showed up on the list were Kiriko and Tracer, just the fast pace gameplay both of them offer and they are VERY rewarding (not that Ana isn't but in a different way). When you are popping off on either, you can very much feel it and the enemy team will let you know lol. Whether it's them going torb sombra because I won't leave their backline alone as Tracer. Or going with flyers because I'm just deleted them and timing suzu perfectly on Kiriko, I just like playing hereos that are difficult but so rewarding.
echo gameplay headshot then beam repeat until ult use ult to survive in contesting point or copy a support to get ult fast and give one of those op support ults repeat to gm1 profit
I would put doom at 2 over ana. Learning the massive amount of techs, How to cycle your cooldowns, knowing what cooldown to engage with or disengage with. I would say you have to have the most mechanical skill to execute all the mechanics/techs you can do with him.
Well in my opinion, ana is mostly about positioning yourself and know when to sleep dart or when to throw your nade, either to the enemy or your ally. Doomfist is just a walking arsenal of weapons, you need to utilize every single tech to actually use him correctly or it would just become an awkward play or giving you the worst position when flanking the enemy supports. well not to mention how many counters doom has. Unless you play like zbra you shouldn't have much trouble on learning and playing him.
@@flareb99its some of the best cooldowns because of the potential game changing, being valueable doesnt make some less difficult, also since you have the mobility of zen your position to actually get a chance to use those cooldowns has to be prisitine, and your usually the only main heal, so basically. Your keepin 4 other ppl alive, finding big value anti nades, finding optimal nanos, finding damage, finding valueable sleep darts. There's def a reason she's labeled as difficult
Kiriko is not hard to master. I recently started playing her and she is way too easy. If you have a good understanding of the game of Overwatch and get used to the feel of the Kunai, she is one of the easiest characters to master. Also Ana is not hard either. I really was scared to play her for the longest time because I'm dog shit at aiming but nope. It's easy. She has way too much utility in her kit. And you don't need to particularly be good at the game to get insane value with her. Other than that, agree with your list.
@@hooopelast2541 If you can consistently get value on one hero, they are not difficult to master. You probably also think Moira has an actual skill ceiling. Mercy's varying movement and knowing who to fly toand when and who do heal or dmg boost and when ans also when to pull out the pistol is already harder to master than Kiriko and Ana. Take a look at literally every other hero he lists. All are valid because there is a multitude of ways to play them and decisions you can make at any given second that will give a varying level of value (or lack of value). Ana and Kiriko boil down to if you can consistently land your shots and have smart game sense and know who and when to use your cooldowns on and positioning (mainly for Ana)
@@Icyfire25 dude... consistently getting value doesnt mean mastering the hero, there is a big difference, every hero has a skill floor and ceiling, just because the floor of a hero is easier, it doenst mean the ceiling is also easier, the difference between a good ana/kiriko and a 'master' ana/kiriko is waaay bigger between a good mercy and a 'master' mercy, consistently getting max value out of the hero's kit is mastering a character.
@@andrealelli7505 Not hard. Has more decision making potential. Ana and Kiriko are easy. You're delusional if you think you're good because you cleansed that JQ ult or slept that Doomfist that dived you in the face. It's child's play. Anybody can do it unless they're garbo
I honestly feel Winston is only difficult to master under certain circumstances. The most important skills a Winston player needs (besides the obvious mechanics) are leadership skills. Which, ironically, is lore-fitting lol. If you want to play him, he is HEAVILY dependent on his team playing alongside him properly so if you aren't someone who is comfortable giving commands, he really isn't for you. He isn't a tank that is self-sustaining or self-sufficient on his own to hold a space (unless he's nano'd). The only real skill the hero requires mechanically is learning how to juggle effectively in Primal, but that's the extent of it. He's definitely more of a game knowledge hero than a mechanical one.
assuming you have no comms (which is pretty likely in ranked), the fact that he is dependent on his team means you have to pay a lot of attention to them, knowing where they are and if they can support you. you have to know when you can use cooldowns to get aggressive or when you need to keep them to survive. you have to know where you can go to safely pressure the enemy without exposing yourself too much. i would say he requires the most game knowledge of any hero, maybe equal to dva, and primal juggling is one of the hardest mechanics in the game.
hot take: monke needs two things: -Damage -Decent heals none of those necessarily require coordination, moreso compentent teammates. Tbh 80% of teamplay in solo queue is more a question of if people are able to output correctly and that will inform you (along with the enemy's comp/playstyle) how to play/if you should play monke
In my opinion the hardest hero in the game now is echo, it's a hard thing to rank tbh because whatre the parameters? Like making junkrat work in top 500 is honestly probably harder then making tracer work in top 500 but obviously tracer is harder but at the same time you can just say tracers the hardest because mechanical stuff because I would argue genji actually is harder mechanically so it has to be a combination of things and if you were just talking who's the hardest to one trick then I would say tracer because she falls short inna few areas like she struggle to deal with tanks and flyers which will make it really hard to just hard lock tracer and not sometimes lean on your team. But when it comes to needing to understand the game to its absolute fullest I would say echo is mechanically demanding, maybe the 2nd or 3rd in the game because she also like ana has multiple projectiles, has tons of movement tech like ball, her ult is even harder to learn then genjis because you need to understand every hero in the game and what they could bring to current situation you're in, her hitbox is massive which is just another way of nerfing her hp, so while tracer may have 150 which makes her need to be careful, echo has the hitbox of a tank which forces you to play much safer, and echo is bascially good at everything in the game but just not as good as other heros who specialize on stuff so to actually play echo to her fullest you gotta out tank bust a bastion, out flank a tracer, win the spam duals with the junkrats, and sometimes you gotta out snipe the widows with your bomb headshot combo across the map. And while this is all subjective, I did main tracer all of ow1 and am now an echo main in ow2, and in ow1 tracer was much harder then echo but the way 5v5 works, echo needs to be a flank more times then not which tracer and genji are both much more suited to be tanks, plus I tend to gravitate towards the hardest to play stuff in any game I play which is why I think I became an echo main at the launch of ow2 😂
so this is why i dont rank up in Ow -i play all the hard heroes expect Genji and Hamster , the fun part are i usually do good and so im doing worse on the easy heroes -like mercy or pharoh ,mcree, soldier - bronze is hard when easy characters are to hard and hard heroes to easy
Lmao, from my experience I use to be really decent and good with Ashe had like a 60 to 70% Scope accuracy in my games, but then I tried out Tracer and absolutely loved her kit and play style. I kid you not the moment I wanted to play Ashe for a bit after investing hours in Tracer I was absolute garbage 💀
Have a couple thousand hours in OW. I primarily play support and am Diamond in support and damage. Haven't played enough tank to get ranked in any season. I think I'd be close to Masters on support if I played more comp, but I don't particularly enjoy comp. Each role: Tank: Doomfist. He's by far my worst hero and overall the hardest to play IMO. Not even close. I just get rocked constantly. It's hard to even practice him in QP because I'm so bad. I just go in and die immediately and then feel bad for my team so swap. I don't particular enjoy playing tank anyway though, so I don't mind never being able to play him. Damage: Genji. I've never been able to get the hang of him. I don't practice with him much, though. I'm sure if I watched a few guides and spent some more time playing him I'd double my effectiveness. Tracer is an honorable mention, but I'm much more productive with her than Genji. Support: Tough one, since I'm pretty decent with all of them it's hard for me to make an unbiased decision. When I play Tank in QP I often get matched with low rank supports, and I most frequently see people playing Ana and Kiriko wrong. I can always tell just by looking at the stat sheet. The Ana/Kiriko on my team will have 500 damage and 8000 healing. I'll occasionally watch the replay and see them healbotting the entire game.
If you're the Ana/Kiriko I described... TL;DR - Always look for damage. Heal when needed. Ana and Kiriko should be much closer to 3000/8000 damage/heals if you're actually being productive. In some matches, that can even be a 50/50 split damage/heals depending on matchups. Support rule #1: Dead enemies can't damage your team. Switch your mindset from "healer" to "support". Support means damage, heals, and CC/enhancing your team. If your tank has 400 HP, they're fine. Do damage. If your Genji has 190 HP, do damage. Heal when needed, otherwise damage. Of course stats aren't the only thing. Smart usage of sleep dart, nade, TP, and Suzu are super important. For Ana players, I most often see them sitting on cooldowns until "just the right moment" or only thinking of cooldowns as defensive tools. I've found the most success in using sleep darts liberally. Unless you think something like a Reaper ult is coming, shoot the dart. Shoot it around a corner. Shoot it where you think an enemy is going to peek. Just use the damn dart. You'd be surprised how many offensive sleep darts will result in your team securing a kill. As for nade, just throw that sucker whenever it's up. Try to land it on squishies or on your tank/their tank simultaneously. As you get more comfortable, you'll naturally start to learn how to use it more productively. But seriously, to start with, just throw the nade at the enemy team whenever it's up. If you're bronze/silver rank, that already makes you better than the opposing Ana who only uses her nade whenever she gets dove. Kiriko is a little different. Use Suzu when someone is going to die. That's it. No tips for this. Just takes a lot of practice. Otherwise, use it on yourself early in a teamfight as you look for a kill. Two headshots is a kill on 200HP targets. Kiriko has amazing kill potential if you land headshots. Climb walls. Low ranked players never climb or take high ground. Go high ground before the team fight and throw kunai at head level. If you are in danger, Suzu yourself and TP out. Get in a rhythm. Kunai/Kunai/Heal on repeat. Don't hold heals. Mix in Kunai. Even if you miss, it'll help you get used to the flow. Finally, for both of them, always take the 1v1 duel. Never run if someone's in your face. You're probably dead already if you run, so might as well try. Two headshots with Kiriko wins a duel. Nade and 2 shots wins it with Ana. They are two of the best in the game at taking close 1v1s against damage heroes. If it's a tank though, sleep dart or TP out. You're going to lose that fight, and you were probably out of position. Didn't mean to write such a huge wall of text... my bad. Hopefully helps someone out there.
I feel like Sombra deserves an honorable mention if we’re talking about mastering. Skill floor is very high but knowing where to put TL so you can keep up your APM gets u far more value than TPing somewhere safe but far and potentially losing the team fight in the time you get back. Timing engagements is obviously important but with most other DPS, you usually focus and put pressure on one person or 2 men on an island low on resources (just generally speaking) however with Sombra, you have to be able to scout and decide rather quickly at times how you’re going to approach hacking the enemy time and those decisions depend on seemingly millions of factors. Sometimes the best play is to find a way to hack the tank first so your team can really pressure him, remain undetected then hack somebody who becomes isolated from the tank and hopefully slim them. Sometimes just kill the healer standing too far from their team, but if they have a Hanzo with LOS, you have to figure how to play around him one shotting you. The biggest hurdle you’ll run into are things like turrets or traps, if you’re not to play around how a team using them, you’re better off swapping characters. You really have to be able to make the best decisions in regards to serving the winning condition literally every team fight because it is just as easy to make Sombra extremely ineffective as it is for her to dominate a lobby. I don’t disagree with anyone in the top 10, I just wanted to mention Sombra cause I feel like I have to think a lot more playing with her in certain games than any other hero.
The rework will unfortunately take away basically all of sombras skill expression with translocator. Which is what separated good sombras from the bad ones. Also he didn’t consider it because most people just see sombra at her skill floor and assume it doesn’t get any higher, when in reality she easily has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game.
If you think doom is hard to master now, you should've seen him in ow1, dude got his skill ceiling plummeted, and still is one of the hardest hero to master, doom was THE hardest in the game when he was dps, not even close to anyone, doom now is not as hard as you think he is, yeah sure no way he's easy but not that demanding at least not as ow1
Ow2 doom is way harder to get value out of. Ow1 doom punch used to do actual dmg compared to new doom hitting for like 60. Old slam did more than just tickle dmg, especially if you got the big 125 slam. Uppercutting someone gave you a good opportunity to kill them mid air. Power block is a joke for new doom. You have to land every ability (primary fire included) to even secure a kill as tank doom.
@poloh1208 Tank Doom skill ceiling is lower than DPS doom. Dps doom had many rollouts and techs he had to learn to play him at a high level. DPS Doom was unironically weaker than Tank doom in terms of impact.
@@poloh1208 you also forgot that a simple flash right click of cass was it for doom, and im talking high level play doom is easy to get value in Lower ranks cuz most people don't know how to play around him, doom was 250 but he was the most fragile dps because he had a giant hitbox and have to be in melee range to be effective, so the only way was to drop kill and leave method, a method that requires learning every angel, every glitch, every corner punch to be even remotely a good doom player, sure doom was killing in lower ranks cuz enemies just line in for him to punch and now that he's doing half his dmg that doesn't happen anymore
@@thegaminglord2190 cree nade right click still fucks doom, what are you saying? All you had to do as old doom was get to some sort of highground and drop down with slam uppercut to be effective. New doom doesn't have any good combos that kill. You can punch 3 ppl into a wall and not get any of the kills bcuz it requires your team to back you up. At least old doom didn't need a bunch of team follow up to secure an elim.
I swear there really is a ton of bias towards Ana that it's mildly frustrating to see. Yes, she has a skillshoot, yes she has no movement, but those things are pretty fucking generic and it's not like other characters don't have skill shots. People put her on a pedestal, which makes sense after they revealed the most played character stat, and really inflate her skill requirements. She's easily has been one of the best characters since, forever, and rather simple to pick up and master. 1v1s are also made rather easy as you have your m1 which can 3 shot, or 2 shot with nade, a sleep, a janky hitbox that still exists after all this time, and a damage plus heal. "she requires multiple types of aim" = a projectile, a projectile, a projectile that has an arc, and a hitscan. Wow. Definitely not just inflating her skill requirements there. A positioning is generally a very universal skill in overwatch, to which is dislike the use of it for individual characters. Same with game sense. But echo without a doubt needed to be placed higher since you can't press Q and get a 3k like soldier or pharah, junkrat etc. You have to be good with her base kit, and then also good with the others. Many times i ult a character, and switching from projectiles to hitscan tracking messes you up a bunch. But seriously, stop with the ana bias. She is one of my top supports and it is just silly to see that constantly mentioned.
Learning to one clip, path, use pulse, and cooldown management is way harder on tracer. Managing genji cooldowns is almost non existent and you can walk climb to easily get out. With tracer you have to play around way more natural cover and be precise with how you engage, especially when trying to kill on high ground.
eh no, whenever I try Genji I get surprised by how to easy to get value his kit is in comparison to Tracer, with Tracer, you can get one shotted by every single two shots in the game and not only that if you think Genji is harder than Pulse you're wrong, it's definitely hard if you 1 v 5 or 1 v 3 with all the enemy cooldowns still online but you can still make getting value on Genji ult easy too where is with Tracer, even on easy targets you can still miss, maybe the opponent moved in a way you least expected, maybe suzu. And there are times when you're just a Pulse Bomb God but there are other times when you just cant land a single one. Also, Genji has 200 hp, deflect, wall climb, has two ways of firing projectiles. He doesnt really have a lot techs outside of Swiftstrike techs. With Tracer, sure her techs mostly related to her blinks, but 150 hp and three blinks allow her and encourages her to do some techs and be good at them so sure she might not have the same amount of techs as Doom or Ball but she is still hard to master.
I feel like the less mastered hero is ball. I'm not saying the hardest hero to master. But i really think that people don't even see ball celling, even the best players in the world
Widow has a high skill floor but a low skill ceiling. Once you get over the initial hump of bad aim there’s not much higher you can go compared to other hero’s .
Id say the hardest hero to master is kiriko. Im a kiriko main myself with half a thousand hours on her and ive yet to fully master her. Im a masters 2 one trick kiriko and id say rn the areas im lacking in for her is my aim and being able to throw suzus from a far as well as my reaction time at that distance. Id say my aim with her is mediocre i avg about a 41% wep accuracy with her and abt 4k dmg a game with her. But those 2 are the only things i feel like is holding me back in fully mastering kiriko, my game sense and suzu timing is pretty insane for my elo id say. My diving strats do need some work tho.
Me picking Genji as my main since I started playing 2 months ago (Im new), at least I got tons of practice from halo and using an energy sword and dominating there
Honestly tracer is way easier than people think. Yeah she has low health and you have to manage your cooldowns, but it really isn't that hard if you have basic timing. If you consider tracking enemy cooldowns to mastering tracer, doing that applies to all characters. Putting kirko and ana in top 5 shows you don't know what you are taking about. Kiriko takes almost no skill. A free teleport to escape dives and a reaction button to gain immunity. Anyone with basic timing can play her. Ana is just aim and basic cooldown management, like said before. Positing too, but she has an inconsistent sleep so your position doesn't need to be perfect.
If you think tracer is easy to play you’re not above plat. There’s a reason why In owl some people just play tracer, because she is so hard to play that you need to one trick her. if you think one clipping, 180/90 pulse bombs, pathing, and knowing when and how to engage while managing cooldowns against top players is easy I don’t know what to say.
@@theodorerhigginbottom5837 okay, but the video is also about MASTERING, which means being able to do anything possible with that character in any situation. For MASTERY, tracer's skill ceiling is far lower than many others, mainly ball and doom. There is NO CHANCE that tracer has the highest skill ceiling. To play like a robot with 100% mastery, you can do that easier with tracer.
@@alanthurston7904tracer easily has the highest skill ceiling in the game. This is evident by the fact that owl players must one trick her so they don’t get shit on but I’ll break it down more. In terms of killing things it is very hard to do. Tracking in general is hard but close range while dodging bullets is even harder. Then add breaking up the clip between blinks, then add blink melee, and recall melee. Her overall movement in a 1v1 in how you use blinks and cover is much huger than doom and ball as they drop on their head and kill them ( I know that’s an oversimplification) ball has the same difficulty in aim but disengage is a lot easier with grapple and shields ( recall doesn’t disengage well unless you triple blink), ball also has a lot of tech so they’re even on that. Doom aim isn’t hard and almost all his tech has been removed. Pulse is harder to master than the other two and I feel like this doesn’t need to be explained . But that’s just mechanics. She has the lowest hp in the game so her pathing and decision making must be perfect and to a much higher level than doom now that roll outs are dead and more than ball because of the hp difference. Her overall cool down management is higher than balls as he just needs to watch grapple, dooms is easier as you just need to learn the cycle similar to orisa. Overall she has a higher skill ceiling than doom but he has the higher skill floor. Ball and tracer should be one and two i personally put tracer 1 because of the health difference.
No hanzo in the list? Hes another character thats easy to pick up but hard to master. i put him up around genji on this list because his projectiles need to account for speed and distance of your projectiles. Also your game sense and positioning need to be on point. (His mobility helps him with positioning more than anna though.) I put him at #7
i think the only hard characters to master are the low damage characters, if your team is incompetent and you need to do a play, you cant do a play if you cant kill anyone

Realistically widow was only op in t500
But she was still op

@@Htiy skill issue
Winton is easy. Jump, shoot, bubble, repeat. Winton
Hes hitscan with a litteral immortality field and some of the best mobility in the game, a decent bap is nearly unkillable plus his heals are just a junkrat bomb but for healing, hes definitely not on the easier side but to compare with the ones on this list is nuts lol, I personally think all supports should excluded from this list because of how easy support is in general and I'm honestly probably a support main, if not I'm a flank main but I play every support and only play tracer and echo in the dps category so I wouldnt say in bias lol
But supports can sort of just heal bot and lean on their team for alot of the match, and as you climb higher this actually happens more and more because your teammates become more dependable. as support you bring massive utlity but your utlity is mostly reliant on your team which really cuts your impact on fights when compared to dps and tanks since if the dps or tank mess up then your utlity is voided but just use your utlity right and alot of the time you'll just sorta get by 😂 especially since support is supposed to watch each others backs which really makes it easy when compared to tank where you have the weight of the whole game on your shoulders or flank where you're a solo act most the game, but support is still harder then the actual dps characters in dps, just not flank which should be it's own sub category.
Ur insane if you think Ana is top2
true
I think that echo needs to be higher cause you have to be good and every other character to get something out of her ult
Including everyone on this list
Not necessarily since ur ult is used to farms ult from whoever she copies as long as she stays alive and does some type of Damage she gains ult and uses it
@@burnt_toast6225 they nerfed it remember it's a lot harder now to gain ult charge in her ult so u gotta have good aim otherwise her ult is useless

But you also have to stand on angles for big healing splashes, and your weapon has immediate recoil. For whatever reason he has always been super difficult for me to justify over picking ana or kiriko.

Sombra is also hard to master

repeat to gm1

Okay wtf, all the mains I wanna play are all top 10
Ok but i dont think ana isnt harder than Doom
To master she definetly is. In low ranks Doom is harder tho
How ana has gained such a high difficulty reputation is crazy to me. Some of the best cooldowns with the only none fall off hitscan gun.

I really was scared to play her for the longest time because I'm dog shit at aiming but nope. It's easy. She has way too much utility in her kit. And you don't need to particularly be good at the game to get insane value with her. Other than that, agree with your list.
getting value doesnt mean mastering the hero, using the hero to its maximum potential is completely another story.
Well said. In low ranks he has a low winrate while in high ranks he's meta and the difference is that in low ranks nobody plays with the Monke
assuming you have no comms (which is pretty likely in ranked), the fact that he is dependent on his team means you have to pay a lot of attention to them, knowing where they are and if they can support you. you have to know when you can use cooldowns to get aggressive or when you need to keep them to survive. you have to know where you can go to safely pressure the enemy without exposing yourself too much. i would say he requires the most game knowledge of any hero, maybe equal to dva, and primal juggling is one of the hardest mechanics in the game.
i skipped the part where he talked about winston lol pretty much what he said
hot take:
monke needs two things:
-Damage
-Decent heals
none of those necessarily require coordination, moreso compentent teammates. Tbh 80% of teamplay in solo queue is more a question of if people are able to output correctly and that will inform you (along with the enemy's comp/playstyle) how to play/if you should play monke
That just sounds like most tanks in the game? I still don't see what makes him supposedly harder.
And while this is all subjective, I did main tracer all of ow1 and am now an echo main in ow2, and in ow1 tracer was much harder then echo but the way 5v5 works, echo needs to be a flank more times then not which tracer and genji are both much more suited to be tanks, plus I tend to gravitate towards the hardest to play stuff in any game I play which is why I think I became an echo main at the launch of ow2 😂
tbh, my worst characters are dive characters.
ball, doom, winston, genji, and i’m currently trying(and mostly failing) to learn how to play zen.
I 100% agree with ur list
so this is why i dont rank up in Ow -i play all the hard heroes expect Genji and Hamster , the fun part are i usually do good and so im doing worse on the easy heroes -like mercy or pharoh ,mcree, soldier - bronze is hard when easy characters are to hard and hard heroes to easy
Funny, I can play all of these except DF and Ashe well, I don't know why Ashe is a pain for me to control.
Lmao, from my experience I use to be really decent and good with Ashe had like a 60 to 70% Scope accuracy in my games, but then I tried out Tracer and absolutely loved her kit and play style. I kid you not the moment I wanted to play Ashe for a bit after investing hours in Tracer I was absolute garbage 💀
probably the muscle memory with scoped vs unscoped, that messes me up
Ashe is easy, tbh.
@@SpiritedFalcon Cool, subjective
@@diegogallo3890 Nope, she is since she's hitscan, lmfao.
Have a couple thousand hours in OW. I primarily play support and am Diamond in support and damage. Haven't played enough tank to get ranked in any season. I think I'd be close to Masters on support if I played more comp, but I don't particularly enjoy comp.
Each role:
Tank: Doomfist.
Thank you bro for the advice 🙏
I hate Sombra as an ex Ball main but i agree she's top 15
The rework will unfortunately take away basically all of sombras skill expression with translocator. Which is what separated good sombras from the bad ones.
Also he didn’t consider it because most people just see sombra at her skill floor and assume it doesn’t get any higher, when in reality she easily has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game.
I’ll say junker queen is also one of the hardest heroes to master but I dont know where the list to replace for jq
Facts. Tank Doom has a higher skill floor, but lower skill ceiling.
This is my position
Tracer
Doom
Genji
Echo
Kiriko
Ball
Ana
Lucio
Winston
Deva
Once I see the enemy ball kill our ana by triple-booping her into a walljump slam I just give up we already lost
“no other game on the planet reaches you” LMAOO what bro Apex is the hardest mechanical game
mechanics arent even close to the hardets thing about overwatch, anybody can hit some shots
Nerf genji
Echo is like one of the hardest characters ever
Bro it is a crime that u did not include brig! By far the hero who needs the biggest brain for positioning and game sense!!
absolutely not
genji above tracer imo and yeah i feel pressure like no other on ana, remember OW1 when her health didnt regen like most of the support roster
Doom can Melee Sigma's Boulder 💀
Cassidy is so hard for me to play i don't know why
Kinda disappointed I didn’t see Junkrat up there but this is reasonable. I can’t complain with anyone on here. It’s all facts.
I see Chika Fujiwara, I press like
I feel like the less mastered hero is ball. I'm not saying the hardest hero to master. But i really think that people don't even see ball celling, even the best players in the world
widow not being on this list is crazy
I was about to insult you when you said torb xD
So where is junkrat?
lucio could be higher, but valid list 👌
Sigma for diva. Ive been playing sigma for over a year now and im still diamond 1. Hes tough.
Winton is easy when u have winton brain mode
Too me its

8=genji
7=tracer
6=sombra
5=window
4=ana
3=doom
2=ball
1=winston
Def live weaver now
Bro I play like four of them and I probably suck at all of them
but widow ???
i see her like the nr 1 hardest you need aim , brain , good position
She has a high skill floor low skill ceiling.
Me as a Tracer main 👁️👄👁️
No hanzo?
I thought tracer will be third and doomfist will be first
I feel like Cassidy should be in this list but okay
Ill be honest, Hammond is by far the hardest hero in the game and i dont think its even close.
I don't think doomfist is that hard to use. I would say at least easier then genji
This list is all over the fucking place lmao
Your order is kinda weird
Me picking Genji as my main since I started playing 2 months ago (Im new), at least I got tons of practice from halo and using an energy sword and dominating there
Imo ball by far harder than doom
I dont see symetra here
Winton 🦍
Ball is heard I am a ball main I play it srom OW1 i still learn it 😅😅
One name:sombra
Its notwinston its WINTON
Honestly tracer is way easier than people think. Yeah she has low health and you have to manage your cooldowns, but it really isn't that hard if you have basic timing. If you consider tracking enemy cooldowns to mastering tracer, doing that applies to all characters. Putting kirko and ana in top 5 shows you don't know what you are taking about. Kiriko takes almost no skill. A free teleport to escape dives and a reaction button to gain immunity. Anyone with basic timing can play her. Ana is just aim and basic cooldown management, like said before. Positing too, but she has an inconsistent sleep so your position doesn't need to be perfect.
dude its skill ceiling not skill floor dumbass
Her overall movement in a 1v1 in how you use blinks and cover is much huger than doom and ball as they drop on their head and kill them ( I know that’s an oversimplification)
ball has the same difficulty in aim but disengage is a lot easier with grapple and shields ( recall doesn’t disengage well unless you triple blink), ball also has a lot of tech so they’re even on that.
Ball and tracer should be one and two i personally put tracer 1 because of the health difference.
kazm 😭😭💀💀
I suck so much at this game lol. Love it tho.
No hanzo in the list? Hes another character thats easy to pick up but hard to master.
i put him up around genji on this list because his projectiles need to account for speed and distance of your projectiles. Also your game sense and positioning need to be on point. (His mobility helps him with positioning more than anna though.)
I put him at #7
I also don't put tracer above anna, I'd say sombra is just as hard to master as tracer.
Sombra? Where is she on the list, if not top 10?
Most people think she’s easy but she really is one of the hardest heroes to master.
I love this kind of content ♫♪♫♪
I play 8 characters on this list lmao
Rein is not even an option thats how garbo he is
It doesn’t matter how good you r with a character, you’re not climbing the ranks alone, it’s a team based game. Stop lying to ppl
i think the only hard characters to master are the low damage characters, if your team is incompetent and you need to do a play, you cant do a play if you cant kill anyone
