- IDF soldiers battled Hamas rocket ambush squads inside Gaza City. Video shows Israeli reserve battalions and paratroopers going street-to-street in Gaza, clearing out Hamas bases, tunnel networks and ammo dumps, while also taking out their commanders. Hamas footage showed jihadists using shoulder-fired rockets to ambush the Israelis, but without managing to stop the advance. Israel is now pushing deep into Gaza City, having surrounded it. And attention is about to turn to the south of the strip as the IDF issued an evacuation order for the city of Khan Younis.

People doubt the damages, actually both Hamas and IDF stated the full or partial destruction of tanks, Hamas fighters launch rockets from close range which doesn't alarm the tank or allow it to apply defence system. Their ground troops never been challenged until this war. This is why you do not see infantry surrounding their tanks. All IDF'S troops in armored vehicles even after massive air campaign to pave the way for the ground troops.

The merkava tanks uses a missile defense system called the Trophy Active Protection System. This defense system uses radar to detect incoming missiles and tries to shoot it down with a special mechanism. It also tells the crew where the missile came from. The tank also has the engine in front of the crew compartment to try and absorb some of the damage.
