I’m a medical student and you’ve taught me far more about autism than my degree, hopefully I’ll provide better care to autistic patients as a doctor because of you xx
"Autistic people don't have feelings" Cut to me, a twenty-three year old autistic man, uncontrollably crying after seeing my best friends sonogram for the first time. It's not even my kid but Jesus, I was a mess!
HowCaseySeesIt I was a bit of an outsider cause it was high interest in sport but if you weren’t outwardly religious or sporty you weren’t popular or more socialable. I was a gamer, quietly religious and not popular at all.
Through most of my schooling I was fairly unpopular, and then we moved to the headquarters of the non-profit my parents worked for. So all their colleagues' kids attended the local high school, and the organization is well over 50% autistic (but mostly undiagnosed). So we had a bunch of autistic kids raised in decently stable homes that achieved a fair amount of popularity through mutual support. That managed to get me nominated for homecoming king, but from the attitude I'd built up for such things earlier in my education I declined it without batting an eye.
I was thinking about being more open about being autistic, but this has convinced me that I shouldn't, or at least I should be really careful about it. A coworker recently overheard me talking to another autistic guy, and he heard me say I was autistic, and he got awkward after that. And I don't blame the people, but there's just such a huge societal misconception of what autism is, that I can't know what people are actually going to be hearing when I say "I'm autistic", and it kind of horrifies me thinking of all the possibilities of what kinds of impressions they might form of me just from that simple statement. Thank you so much for being an ambassador, but I'm just not ready for that myself.
When you talked about the eye sparkle/ superpower in us you just made me cry so much! I'm a 27 year old still struggling with my career (have no finished training in anything until now) and everything. But you're right, I have it in me, it's just a question of finding it and then bringing it into the world confidently.
Responding to your response to the first question, I am a man who only discovered that I am autistic because I learned how it manifests in women, which for one reason or another is how it manifests in me.
"Because this is more than enough of my face for one day." I beg to differ!! your joy is so infectious, there's no such thing as enough of that, the world needs more. :'D
One of our neighbours didn't allow her son to play with my brother because my brother is autistic and she didn't want her son to get infected... I have been thinking about it for 3 years now and i still don't have any words for it
I’m a woman that was diagnosed with Aspergers at age 31 and also have C-PTSD and anxiety, but before I found out that I am on the spectrum I was misdiagnosed with a few things like Schizoaffective disorder and even considered at risk of developing Schizophrenia, I think it’s good that female autism is getting more attention now and this can help many girls find out earlier and not find out later in life.
Thank you for making this video! There are so many misconceptions of what we as Aspies are, and it is refreshing to see someone like you who defys stereotypes. I hope that I do the same in my community. Thanks!
Another outstanding video! Let's keep on correcting assumptions about autism - to quote the line from my National Autistic Society autism alert card - "Until everyone understands"! I think things on autism awareness are improving bit by bit here in the UK, but there is still a long way to go before we get to genuine autism understanding and acceptance. Keep up the great work you're doing on TH-cam, communicating about autism to people around the world!
You are such little a ball of sunshine you make me smile omg. I'm binge watching your vids😂 I don't have autism but you are literally a ball of happiness it's amazing!
I was officially diagnosed with Autism via an Autism specialist a couple of years ago (I'm now 40 AFAB) Around 5 years before this I was assessed by the local "mental health" department and they said I couldn't be Autistic, because I was "able to make eye contact" (by my early thirties, undiagnosed, I have "shockingly", many learned behaviours, that go against my instincts and preferences) and I "do have friends" (despite my difficulty with making friends and limited social circle). Pretty sickening that this was the beliefs of actual medical professionals not so long ago (and maybe still is? I have moved away from the area).
I had a friendship with a girl who would hit me on the head constantly with a book. I thought that was normal. I was also 'friends' with a group of neighborhood kids, they would crack jokes at my expense and play pranks on me. I honestly thought that was normal. I did understand that I was bullied by the marching band kids, but I didn't get why that made my parents so upset because while it did upset me to some extent, it meant that I had an excuse to hide in the library all afternoon, which was my favorite place.
I was diagnosed with borderline syndrome over and over, and the reasons are because I have a high irritability when it comes to sensory impressions and because I self harm but the self harm isn't for the reasons why people with borderline do it, ideally, I would love nothing more than to not do it because I want the least harm to come to my body. Now I've had a therapist who told me I should definitely pursue a formal diagnosis for autism. I'm a trans guy btw
Really nice and entertaining video one again :) I must admit that a part if me believe most of these questions might actually come from people who might be on the spectrum and asking them self these kind of question based on the actual stereotypes displayed in popular culture. And I think all your amazing videos will hopefully help these people. ❤️ Exemple : - I feel that, that and that way, I need to figure why I act a certain way. / Many people are telling me I might have autism, why? - Are these behaviours actual autism traits or not? - I don’t fit the said stereotypes, I need to know if I these stereotypes are actual fact to know if I might be in the spectrum or not. I am saying that because: In the past two month, I have been in the process and most of these “dumb” questions came do my mind. And so far I do not fit in the said stereotypes at all: - I have the chance that my work/life passion is really useful or fun for the people around me ; - My environment when I grew up made me not suffer or look like the typical autist people have in mind ; - Many close friends keep telling me I am an HP, especially my friends who are HP (fact: my mom and my brothers are) ; - I don’t have comorbidities or apparent social difficulties ; I suspect that I might be both Autistic and HP, which would explain absolutely everything about my life and every questions I always had without any damn answer... Thank you! I shared your amazing channel to some friends because It helped me quite a lot and because it is adorable 👏

I know 4 or 5 from NAS social group. I've seen about 40 female autism TH-camr channel not meant any TH-camr face to face. I wanted to go to autism show didn't get there.
I wonder if it's only women with autism who get asked: "Why are you so angry?" I was asked that by a medical professional once and I had no ready answer. On reflection, my answer would be in the form of a question: "Do you ask men on the spectrum that?" Because the only way I would accept being asked that question is if men on the spectrum are asked that. Autistics are probably angry for many reasons, usually difficulty in making themselves understood by neurotypical authority figures and society.

Not even if they ask. The woman who ended up becoming a good friend of mine for twelve years did ask, and for some unknown reason, I felt I could trust her. Luckily I could. Guess what? Didn't make any difference. The fact that I am autistic hardly ever came up. We were just two friends, regardless. She died of cancer in 2017, but she was worth more than the whole neurotypical society put together.
