Very interesting video, very well explained and shown. Your procedure can certainly also be used in other model building areas. Thanks for sharing, Dom! Greetings, Joachim
Great video Dom. Ha a colour bleed issue years ago so never went back to make your own decals, but tempted recenlty to try again. That spray twice trick sounds the solution
Great vid, I've been doing my own flags lately for my crusaders just with regular paper, was contemplating making my own shield transfers but I've decided to just paint them instead. I've got a laser printer so its easier to do the transfers just wanted a challenge though.
@@BootsontheTable Yep good thanks - hope all fine with you and the girls - busy painting my Bavarians - usual me though a figure a week!!! Didnt realise you could get the paper for transfers - save me a lot of time with symbols for the cavalry cloth! Nightmare to hand paint! Missing gaming - hopefully come the Autumn we can try and get together again - cant see much happening this side of September. Pass our love on to the girls - keep the TH-cams coming - we'll have to do a few battle reports for your site.
I own the Armorial Gold Heraldry clip art program. This comes with thousands of real heraldry as well as allowing you to create your own. I am curiosu. When applying the decal to the shield do ever use any sort of Decal Set fluid?
If it is straight on a shield or flat surface I havent needed it. I am experimenting on doing emblems for tunics and surcoats and hell you need a steady hand but solutions would certainly help I would say

cheers Joachim, yes the same approach could be used on buildings or vehicles easily enough

I have done a number so far and I havent suffered bleed, but definitely a few coats of varnish to seal it helps
@@BootsontheTable i suspect that printers and the pper have gotten better too
Excellent idea Dom. Thanks for showing it off. 👍
yes I saw this somewhere and I thought it was worth highlighting
very cool especially for mass transfers
yeah dead easy too Liam
Genius mate. Will definitely be doing this. Do you use Matt varnish or gloss when you spray the paper.?
I used matt as it was what I had to hand.... not sure it matters to be honest

yes I was a little skeptical how well the transfers would work, but I am impressed and must use it more myself
Great idea Dom - like it - ordered my paper already - save a lot of pennies!
Cheers Nick - hope you are all safe and well

@Boots on the Table with Dom
Nice work! Did you make or buy the actual bare shields?
Thank you1
Lisa
Cheers Lisa. Usually I am painting up figures from my collection and these would have been shields from them
Unfortunatly Amazon have sold out of the craftovator a4 clear inkjet water slide decal
shame - but I guess they will get more in in time

Nice tutorial!
Glad you think so!
Always wondered how it was done. Don't think my useless ancient printer will be any good for it though!
