This noisy game show was played in a party atmosphere, with two teams of three people each. In the first and second rounds, one member of each team was given a simple word or phrase such as _slumber party, wife_ or _dam,_ and told to describe it to the other two without using letters, rhymes, or five "taboo" words (the most obvious clues). If the other two team members guessed the word they earned points for the team. The third and fourth rounds were similar except the the points and number of taboo words increased, and manic host Chris began distracting the contestants with noises, nerf balls, and the like. The winning team was the one with the greatest number of points or, if there was a tie, the one that had accumulated the fewest taboos. The winning team then went on to a bonus "speed" round, in which they tried to guess six words in 60 seconds (without tripping over taboos), for a grand prize of $1,000 each and a vacation. Based on the board game of the same name.
I have an idea of how the “danger” round could’ve been fixed. The “danger” could be the penalty of, if a player were to taboo, the player that is trying to get their teammates to guess the words could not speak and could only mime the words their teammates had to guess. If they do speak or mime any of the taboo words, then the rule stays in effect, and the only way to regain the ability to speak is to get the other teammates to say the main word without any taboos.
Before it became a male network and it became Spike TV...another interesting fact is that it premiered the same night as Dirty Rotten Cheater on PAX and Cram on GSN.
On paper, should have been better than it was. Chris Wylde just couldn't get past a comedy act to be a good host. He might have been okay if they went to a celebrity captain and 2 contestants per team as he was a semi-regular cause he is a good taboo player. Plus the writing was a bit weak.

That list for the Bonus Round was relatively hard to get.
Yep.
Chris Wylde… we actually just allowed this person to exist, didn’t we?
I mean … why?!

At one point, the series was airing at 9 am on the network (a timeslot which _DIDN'T_ fit at all, given the show's party atmosphere.)
Taboo was a fun game to enjoy. It was Pyramid with forbidden words
Family Game Night's last episodes in the wake of Hub's becoming Discovery Health aired at 2PM on Sundays.
Was the host touching the contestant? That's cool, nowadays there would be an uproar
