Great video. It's not unusual for an arcade racer to have some system that can be exploited beyond the dev's original intent to some extent to boost your times, but this is definitely on a whole different level.
the fact that on the last stretch of the 1st course, u could do donuts to the finish line without losing speed was a tell tale sign at the time that the game was broken to the core, and i still remember the time that me and my cousin were racing together and he bumped our cars as we were jumping the big jump also in the first map and the game went all zany...btw, i think it is a problem with all namco arcade games, i rememebr one time i broke TIME CRISIS since i kept managing to hit the targets even before they appear by precise shots down to the pixel from playing it so much that the game would stutter and start failing to turn up the new targets....it was some fun times.
That completely explains why Namco never attempted to make a reprogrammed conversion of Rave Racer for PlayStation 1 or even PlayStation 2 when they had a perfect chance to plus the additional problems that happened during the transition to PlayStation 2 where many gamers were way too critical to Ridge Racer V (which was the last true Ridge Racer arcade game before the influence of Fast and the Furious saw nitrous added to RR7 as an arcade game.) Due to the increased speed, complex handling physics during turns and the short sighted criticism towards the jaggy graphics considering RRV was just a launch game. Then Namco made the NamCollection which unfortunately featured a half effort reprogrammed conversion of PS1 Ridge Racer to PS2 instead of a remastered arcade Ridge Racer given the power increase of the Sony PlayStation 2 hardware. Meanwhile the Rave Racer race tracks were included in the PSP games but with the nitrous gameplay mechanics so no further evolution of the RRV hardcore gameplay and iirc that game released before official steering wheels were made for PS2 specifically. I have seen this trick decades ago on some of the very first videos uploaded to the internet back in the day where it just seems like some weird glitch... It is unfortunate that Namco's original Ridge Racer designers and programmers haven't been able to even direct a fully remastered remake of these games and that the RRV gameplay was never expanded upon because of the whole nitrous thing... not that nitrous makes the game easier because in later RR7 stages it clearly doesn't and is fun but adds a bit of an artificial impact to the wins.

Interesting stuff. I only played this game once in an airport and as cool as it looked I found the handling model pretty hard to manage vs regular Ridge Racer.
In home versions of Hard Drivin and Race Drivin you could drive through curves at full speed by shifting into neutral gear. But this glitchride is new to me. Are there any tricks to escape the road in Ridge Racer?

@@dangunheadachron1603 Paul eales is a known TAS'er , if you weren't a lardAss you'd know just by watching his replay and watching trhe last stage. completely unrealistic gameplay, there's no point in jacking up rank like that and going for no-miss not even experienced player would do that. not to mention all the consistent inhuman dodging.

Never played Rave Racer but I played the track remakes in RR PSP, very fun arcade racer it's my fav along with Midnight Club 3
