Bereaved by the lack of Kannada speakers in his own state, Suhas Navarathna details his angst and frustration at having to deal with his day to day life as a Kannadiga who can rarely speak Kannada in Bengaluru. He talks about his grievances, NOT HATE, as he puts it, with the people we so fondly call "North Indians".

I loved the word kirikiri with tamilians and north indians
I am from Mangaluru, but have observed that whenever I go to Bengaluru, I find some people very rude. Don't know if I am too sensitive though. I agree that auto drivers respond well when I speak Kannada, but they usually ask extra when they realise that I am from Mangaluru, however, I happily oblige. And coming to North Indians, one north Indian asked me how can you claim to be Hindu if you don't know proper Hindi😂
It's ok I can understand. India has wide variety of culture and language. Now they are mixing.
To build a strong nation we need one language. Now the present condition shows Hindi is the only option.
Now the Hindi speaking states should understand that the rest states are learning the new language for the nation and behave accordingly, they should not show dominating character.
But who ever comes to Bangalore should try to learn Kannada. And Bangalore people has already learnt Hindi.

Aashish old Mysore region is a little rough. I have studied in Mangalore for 5 yrs and totally agree with you that people are extremely soft natured. I really have no explanation for this but i guess we just need to become a roman in rome. Totally agree on English as link language. North Indians think we hate them etc but they must realize that we just don't see the need for Hindi at all and most of us would rather learn Mandarin - i mean hindi is as alien to us
