- 1992 sketch from the Australian comedy series Fast Forward - a parody of the talent show New Faces, hosted by Bert Newton (Peter Moon). Contestant Margaret Bland (Jane Turner) shows off her unique dancing style.
Margaret Bland HAS to dance in the next Olympics
The Australian breakdancing effort at the Olympics brought me here.
Same 😅🤣
Same!!
Same
Same!!
Me too 😅
Aussie Breakdance Coach 2024 😂😂
Bingo!!
When our comedy was comedy ❤🇦🇺
Margaret Bland! 💚💛🥇👍🏻
Margaret was definitely ahead of her time. An absolutely natural super talent with cutting edge choreography.
This is Olympic quality stuff!!
The Olympics brought us all here to bask in the glory that is the contemporary and early late modern Australian dance scene.
Jane Turner's physical comedy is just the best !!!
& shades of Margaret Bland appeared in Kath & Kim... just love Australian comedy!
I have always loved Jane Turner and her dance abilities. As a retired dancer and now a teacher I watch and lmfao. There is a wonderful sketch with Jane and Marina Prior with Jane as the choreographer. Still brings a smile to my face.
Interesting. This predated Elaine Benes' dance steps on Seinfeld (The Little Kicks episode) by 4 years.
I was a kid when this first aired now I am the same age as Margaret Bland 🤣
You are now old enough to participate in the straight mardi gras
How good is Peter Moon as Bert in wide-screen.
Never gets old. Pure talent
Absolutely hilarious, even after all these years!
Jane Turner is a total legend!
The good old days.
💯🇦🇺
Here after 2024 Paris Olympics breakdancing. More timely now than ever.
20 years later and still hilarious.
30 years later.
Kath Day Knight is born
An absolute cultural classic of Australian Television History. A Screenshot of this wonderfully choreographed piece now adorns the entrance hall wall of my property in Narnargoon. Thank you Miss Bland for these wonderful memories.
Her dance style is alarmingly accurate.
Love how the judges put the headphones to their ear, when it was a dance act.
Jane Turner's dancing is the best 😅
We should have sent Margaret Bland to represent Australia in the Olympics as our breakdancer. She put more expert into it.
I do this dance around the house to crack my husband up!
Howling with laughter reading this! That’s hilarious 🤣
That's hilarious 😂
You’re a keeper!😂
@@plassy3138 Laughter is the best medicine 🙂👍
Still laughing at this in 2020! 😂
Margaret Bland is a uniquely talented dancer (and choreographer) - a big favourite!
I can remember seeing this on tv back in the day & laughing til I was crying!!
Jane Turner = true genius.
Would love to see her showing up to the auditions for So I Think You Can Dance doing this one. Give that guy Nigel a run for his money.
Thanks so much for the upload!
This is where I got my dance moves from ... best dancing ever
Brilliant. Sad thing is there's nothing to laugh at on Australian Television now.
And Kaths dance was born! 😂
i wonder if seinfeld got the Elaine kicking dance routine idea from magaret? very interesting
Was just wondering the same thing... she danced like Elaine before Elaine danced like Elaine.
my first thought too! btw, this Fast Forward sketch by Jane Turner was 1992 ... Seinfeld was 1989-98 ... "The Little Kicks" Seinfeld episode was 1996, so only 4 years after this sketch by Jane Turner. At the end of the day, whether Seinfeld scriptwriters copied Jane Turner or not, that we cannot be sure of ... but one thing we can be sure of, is that Jane Turner brought The Little Kicks to the world before anybody else.
My immediate thought as well.
Jane Turner said, in an interview, that she was copying the uncoordinated though enthusiastic way her mother used to dance when Jane was growing up.
She also said that she slightly exaggerated her mum's style.
No internet back then. Coincidence brilliance
OMG. Love it. Her dance moves have become a staple on the dance floor for my gang.
Peter Moon as Bert Newton!
Ahhhh RIP Bert Newton. Even as a parody.
Go Kath! You're so effluent!
Spot on I loved it when she did those kicks it was so funny
She should’ve gone to the olympics for Australia instead
It’s scary that real people would actually dance like that.
Especially Olympians! :P
I wonder if non-Australians watch this whilst scratching their hands and end up saying “I don’t get the joke”??
As a non-Australian I assume there's references or some layer I don't get, but this is still really funny on its face.
Where have we seen this before? Oh yes, the Olympics.
Fucking funniest thing ever!!!
And I love Michelle and Ferret LOL
I'm sitting in the bar at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas and I made the comment looking around the room there were plenty of Margaret Bland's in here (and a few Harold Bland's). Lol. Great clip.
Geez made this comment ten years ago and only just come across it again.
Those forced little end motion kicks - love it!
In Melbourne there is a real estate agent named Margaret Bland. Coincidence of course.
Love the dancing - Jane Turner is a lovely mover. I especially like her moves in Kath and Kim.
*she got the music in her*
*she got the music in her*
*she got the music in her*
Olympics here we come!
😂😂😂 timeless!
Mart Rhone should use her in his up coming tour!!!!!
I knew this sketch lasted more than a couple of seconds. Thanks for posting the whole thing.
Etched into my memory :)
The Don Lane dancers lol.
Gold Gold Gold
Love the New Faces skit. Each week Bert's face got wider and wider until it almost stretched across the whole screen...
Hello are you still on TH-cam
Lorraine, I thought you were sensational in the Sullivans ..... 100! ROFLMAO!!!
I came here to write a comment comparing Margaret Bland to Raygun's performance at the Olympics but I have been beaten to it I see.
Im sure that Raygun used margaret as her inspiration for her 'routine' at the olympics😮
RIP Bert
Where Raygun learnt
I'd love to have her at my 31st bday party. Lmao.
ahhh so this is where Michelle and Ferret evolved from... classic Aussie TV back when stations could afford to invest in shows.
So that's where the Elaine came from!
I wonder if this is Kath Day-Knight’s mum
I can't wait for the X Factor parodies to start reeling in!!
The thing is those who didn't see the show back in the time wouldn't realise they were mimicking or taking the mickey out of real people (in a nice way)
99 , 100 . Its out of ten
Is that Raygun?
Awesome!!!!!!
That's about right how I dance
andd thus, kath day knight was born
Groovy.
What a dag,love the hair & outfit..
Bert Newton at the start 😆😆😆
That's the lonely lady shuffle!
Actually she’s a way better dancer than the Aussie breakdancer at the Paris Olympics.
Love the song in it Denim and Lace by Marty Rhone
some similarity with Elaine's dancing from Seinfeld
If only Raygun had the same the opportunity to BS the judges like this she might have got a better score 😂
So funny 🤣
Does this outdate the Elanie from Seinfield dance? Just curious who done it first
So good. And where's the comedy on Aussie TV nowadays? There's nothing. 'Fisk' on ABC - I rest my case.
Jane Turner you are so funny
This aired in 1991 So it must pre-date Elaine on Seinfeld.
I think Elaine Benes was taught by Margaret!
recognise kath's dance steps.
@VoyageOne1
(continued) on youtube of course!!
Ray guns mother..
Coach of Rayban
Rayguns new dance 😂
Lmao 😂👍
99 and 100
:)
Is Marg Downey still around?
She sure is
Elaine stole her moves from Jane!!
Turner has a brilliant brain where is Glen A Baker
A very early Kath Day-Knght.
Elaine Bennis
kath day-knight
Kimmys Mum, lol
Does marty rhone like this ?
