I feel this man commanded respect. I respect and like his eloquence and am always captivated when he speaks. Never heard of him, just came across a video of his few weeks ago and just respected him. Very intelligent man.
Mr. Bowier your generation is not messed up,quite the contrary. It paved the way for us. What happened in Liberia is just a fluke of history. These things can happen. We still have our Country and always will.
Liberians must hold America responsible for the civil war in Liberia. Charles Gurney was a direct agent of America who told Tom Woiewoyu that they and Charles Taylor had the military advantage and should proceed with the war that killed innocent civilians. Intentionally killing civilians is an act of terror, this was a terroristic act financed and supported by America. Liberia should demand reparations to rebuild Liberia. We can move forward with America on a purely Diplomatic basis. We must not forget or let the Americans think, we forget these atrocities. Things like this can be easily repeated. At this present time, while the entire world is paying attention it is only necessary.
After watching this witness testimony, I realized that president Doe was not a bad person, but was mislead by some of his kingsman and some close greedy advisers.
@@rufusjopullehflomo9290 Lol, the commenter above is hearing in opposite! Doe was a bonafide killer. I recall watching a grainy video of Prince Johnson and his men torturing Doe as he begged for mercy 31 years ago as an 18 year old in Uganda. But I also had watched another video a few years earlier of Doe executing a nearly whole former cabinet by firing squad. I knew at that point the chickens had come home to roost in Doe's case for that hideous act when his ear was chopped off. Now at 49 and living in Massachusetts, I can't help but find Mr. Bowier's narration mind blowing. It disturbed me in a way that such information has not been catalogued for posterity, and that he, Bowier, died without writing a book about his memoirs. He was a very articulate man and also very humble and humorous. Hopefully there are more Liberians alive and in the Doe government or from that era who can compile a detailed run of events in the manner of Bowier. May his soul rest in peace.
You get the point, though the president was grossly misled, deceived, and misguided, but he wasn't too wise at all. Some level of cruelty ruled his heart. How was he not able to pardon his offenders. Doe was brutal, point blank. What kind of a man would tell another tribe to vacate the country or their safety wouldn't be guaranteed. That statement was tyrannical.
Minutes 2:28, Kafumba went to Emmanuel Bowier to tell the president to bill a Mosque on Broad street of Monrovia, Liberia. One may wonder why? It is because there are Churches on Broad Street, so there must be a Mosque on Broad Street of Monrovia. A Muslim gets closed to the presidency of Liberia would bring about serious conflict. They will try to change some laws in their religion favor, but there would be a serious resistance from the majority.
