I mean if it has to be one, it was implied to be his sister considering he was facing her when asking if she was alright But I like to think it was both

He decided to stop his half-sister's, Dragonhead girl, war and bring peace to the land. Hoping to mend their relationship in the process. Dragonhead girl suffered a great tragedy and it opened her eyes to the corruption in the world. She decided to take the quickest path to change and went against the tyrannical church. Her goal was to free humanity from the rule of dragon people! They met and Dragonhead dies. Bylass tries to avenge her, but Byman takes the hit for his super best friend. In the end they both chose friends over family. Bylass grieves, Dimitri leaves her be and takes mourns in his own way. Btw, the leader of the church is rescued too, but she's not important in the blue lions, like at all. Eyepatch even gets rid of her by leaving her in a hut. There's sideburns too, but he's off doing bigger and better things in the desert with all his friends. He's fighting racism one head at a time!

@@rotiruil5684 There's like... 4 routes. I gave you a simplified version with background information on both and a headcanon for why there are 2 protagonists. You should consider a let's play, I recommend Nico B, but other's have already finished the game lol

Actually, the Church itself _has_ helped Fodlan advance and did do some good in the world (Cyril, a boy saved by the Archbishop Rhea from poverty is the most obvious example). Seteth and Flayn, Rhea’s only remaining family and best friends/advisors are genuinely nice people and from what we’ve seen in their supports would have probably changed the world for the better had they been in charge. Seteth is really chill when it comes to religion and doesn’t really care if you don’t worship Sothis 24/7. He also genuinely wants to help the students achieve some great things and reach their full potential. Flayn, while still a tad more childish, is really kind and would probably at lest begin to change the Crest system if she knew just how much pain it brought to the people of Fodlan. Anyways, rant over, sorry for that I just thought that the way you portrayed the Church a bit too was a bit too manichean.
None of them, not one of the heirs deserve to meet their end in FE3H. They all have valid reasons for what they do, what they desire, what they hope and yearn for. I think the biggest tragedy is that it may have been possible for them to all work together to see a better Foldlan had they discussed things more openly. Maybe I'm just too much an optimist, but I don't think any of their desires are inherently incompatable. Forming better ties with nations outside Foldlan, reforming the class system, and getting revenge on those who slither in the dark, these are all compatible, I thing.

Given what I know about certain things twins still wouldn't have that power only one would so I guess in this universe the male professor has that thing and not his twin But they do share the same blood 😉
