You can’t talk about the early history of Reggae and not mention the name of Peter Tosh. I mean you can’t mention Bob Marley a d forget to mention the person who taught him the guitar🎸 . That was gross ignorance by the compiler of the documentary.🚮
Relax buddy, it's only a 3min summary of Reggae's history. There're a lot of important people who weren't mentioned... And all that thing about Peter being the one teaching Bob to play guitar is just an urban legend.
Bunny Lee has stated that 'streggae' was it first name which is slang for a (sexually) loose woman but they thought it wouldnt catch on so they shortened it. Dont know how true it is but I heard it in a french documentary in the 90's, got it on VHS in my collection.
You guys always tell about a quarter of the story with about a quarter of it being accurate. Sound Systems started out in the 1940s and 50s - not the 60s. Ska was an evolution of R&B not Mento. Mento was Jamaican Calypso, the Sound Systems were playing US R&B not Mento. So much inaccuracy that this pretty little video becomes quite meaningless. Do try a little harder please. 😂
@@halfers83 all u people the same.. just like latinos trying to steal break dancing thats been arouns since 1920 created by black americans.. just like arabs and europeans stealing egypt and other places black people were first. black people created all the most types of music and dance styles..
False Ragga can be Jungle with 80s-90s dancehall vocals on top created in the UK Or Ragga can just be short for Raggamuffin - anything rough and antiestablishment
Glorious back beat with a bouncy rhythm 🦏😊🤗
Siempre es agradable aprender más de la musica reggae, saludos desde México.

I’ve heard a few stories over the years but can’t be sure myself, one was that Reggae came from a song by Toots called Do the Reggay,
I dont know if its where it came from but its supposed to be the first song using the word in the lyrics. That's what I have read anyway.
Toots Hibbert invented the word reggae.
He was the first, it came from the word streggae which meant rough
one may be able to offer a synopsis of what reggae is but it remains undefinable as far how it makes me feel.
Bring back the Skins!
The skinheads of 1969 created their own culture. Do likewise and create yours.
We never left. The skinhead culture is pretty much alive although things have evolved of course.
