    If you use a Leica lens on a Sony A7riv body using an Voigtlander adapter what are the disadvantages? Do you use loose image quality as using an adapter changes the distance from of the lens from the sensor?

    I suppose you could adapt the m-mount of this lens to any other mirrorless, but you will, of course, get whatever comes with adapting to a cropped sensor. 7artisans has other offerings for mirrorless which are quite reasonable and have been well received as well.. trying not to use this term that's been over quoted, but you really do get quite a lot of bang for your buck.

    Do you think it is “better” wide open than a Minolta 50 md 1.2 or canon Fd 50 1.2?. I’m thinking on buy this lens to use it on a7iii+techartpro ...

      Gustavo Ibarra take a look at the Canon 50mm f1.4 LTM in eBay. It’s just a bit dreamy at f1.4 and pretty damn sharp from f2.8 downward. If you want dreamy the 50mm f1.2 LTM will make you really happy.

    • @S3l3ct1ve
      @S3l3ct1ve 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of these have been used through all those years, and to find 2 samples of them that work identically you would have to look a lot.. What I mean is that Minolta MD is like ~30-40 years old and I am sure it wasnt laying 30 years in some safe house somewhere.. It was used and even if you find one in a mint condition it means that it was used anyway at some point.. And just consider the fact that after so many years, there will be dust, fungus and oil separation marks, the coatings wont be in perfect condition etc..
      And they go for what, like 400-800usd these days. This one is new, it comes with warranty of some sort, it has better coatings (most likely) it has 12 aperture blades, while most of the fast glass has 8 or 6, pretty common, as far as I know only canon LTM 50m 1,2f and 50mm 0,95 dream lens, and noctilux fast fifties have ~12 or 15 aperture blades. All others ~6-8 so when you stop them down, even to 1,8f or 2f the highlights wont be round anymore and turn in to hexagonal shape.. Which might not be problem at 2,8 or 3,5f, but with these fast lenses you get it 1,8f or 2f..
      Rendering is also a big things if you consider between these lenses, this one looks like it has some strange busy looking bokeh wide open and it gets smooth when you stop it down a little.

      @anthonymiller8979 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting about the SL2, it will however work on the original SL, the Type 601 with very nice results. Now some of these, maybe the earliest versions (not coded) do not always index or lock on the Leica M4

    • @vincechu6986
      @vincechu6986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gin Kenvin I have never used both cameras. Hasselblad X1D ii is a ‘medium format’ camera with a sensor size of 44x33mm, which is comparable to Fuji GFX and Leica S systems. Leica SL2 is a full frame camera. In my opinion, it depends if you love Leica SL or Hasselblad X native lenses. Your best option may be to lend both cameras from your friends or rent them from a camera shop to try them out.

    • @passcomcompass2623
      @passcomcompass2623 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      image quality is subjective. or else people wont be paying thousands for old movie lenses. clinical sharp lenses with zero spherical abberation is pretty boring imho

    • @JerHetrick
      @JerHetrick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeung Marvin to a degree it is subjective though it really depends on what you are imaging and what your looking to achieve with your camera's optics. A good example would be astro, spherical aberration is one of the most detrimental characteristics in a refraction based optical system (lens, or telescope) to an astrophotographer. It's not as noticeable in other forms of photography and may even be desirable to some people like yourself. Most people like myself purchase old glass because the glass in allot of the older lenses is superior to newer stuff on the market and it's less expensive comparatively. Photography is an art form and anything goes, no one can really say one way or another. Whatever gets you off and produces the effect your looking for is whats right for you. I do think most photographers in general find a high degree of spherical and chromatic aberration undesirable though.

    • @passcomcompass2623
      @passcomcompass2623 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well no glass itself is good enough for deepsky imaging. we use a field flattener anyways and even a newtonian can shoot amazing images. Just saying, people especially beginners get too caught up with sharpness and abberation correction, while the best lenses just let them flow. i only replied because you said hes better off with a pentax as it has better image quality, and now you say whatever floats ur boat, so yea, i agree with ur latter comment

    • @JerHetrick
      @JerHetrick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@passcomcompass2623 reflectors are in my opinion better for deep sky because of this. Thus the RC astrographs with hyperboluc mirrors with near perfect imaging charachterists

    • @JerHetrick
      @JerHetrick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are also a few manufacturers offering ed apo with flat fields now as well. But as you are propably already aware these simply have a 4th element built into the refractor that corrects the field

      No autofocus (unless you use the TechArt adapter/AF gizmo). But you can focus manually via the EVF with magnification.
      The lens is sharp enough when stopped down, but the classic wide aperture Sonnar character is the reason for using it. Other lenses are better suited for the “sharp at wide apertures” thing.
