Nice work! Being a professional woodworker for the last 38 years I can appreciate your attention to detail. Also, you did a great job presenting and editing your video.
You both are in my prayers daily, your doing a great job for America. I also am I'll but I have no way getting around the final , that's ok because I want no pity. Love your channel
To keep from having sore hands pulling on a rope to move the chicken tractor, you may want to put a small piece of garden hose around the rope or a piece of conduit.
I've always enjoyed John's design for pastured poultry and like your modifications for a laying flock. If we do a pastured flock of layers again I'll do this design. My old ones always ended up quite heavy to move.
Thank you!! We're doing a hoop coop style with cattle panels but I've been trying to decide how to add nesting boxes to the back supports were building. I'm going to take from your ideas and alter it to fit ours. Great job
I like your modifications. I hate chicken wire though because I believe it is only made to keep chickens in. Most predators can rip right through it. We are in Alaska and we use mink pen wire, designed for mink cages. We have a fixed coop and we bury it into the ground angled away from the coop and covered with firmly packed small rocks. They free range during the day and we use cardboard under their perches that is changed weekly and composted. More work. But safer for our layers. We also use a rooster to protect them while they free range..we have eagles and Hawks who go after them and it is so great to hear him send the alert and send the girls running into the brush for cover, He is excellent at his job.
Your carpentry work is amazing! Really enjoyed watching you make this. As I have no talent in building or strength of hand to do the work, I used pallets to build my biggest chicken coop. Thanks for a very good video.
Nice video Jason. John's design is definitely versatile, but it's nice to see people develop it more to their needs. I liked your work on the greenhouse @ Justin's too, you are quite the craftsman!
Great job. I'm loving the videos... someone may have commented this already, but flip that chisel over.. you'll get used to the angle... it will make those notches easier... have a great day!
Thanks, I like the modifications you made for egg laying, the rope, sliding easier and reducing weight. It would be nice to see something for a food and water station built in.
Dude! I love this design!!!!!! Yikes, our chicks are a week old..... hmmmm, I need to figure out a coop FAST!!!! I might just give this design a try. Great video man!!
Hi, Jason. The basic plans may have been someone else's, but you sure made a significant number of modifications that improved the overall design -- especially the rounded skids so that it would not "dig in" during relocation! The detachable carabiner clips was another good idea, not to mention the Perch and nesting boxes. Nicely done! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 4/25/2019.
#1 Chicken wire is often inadequate for preditor protection. Yours looked heavier duty than what I am familiar with and I'm hoping it will be sufficient. # Chickens like to roost on whatever is highest. If the nesting boxes are higher than the roosts...you are going to have them roosting there and all the poop that goes with it. :( I really like this egg mobile!
I'm so glad somebody finally did this, keep it up! Could you sometime, depending if it would work for you, also do a video on building a chicksa, like Justin Rhodes' uses?
I think this is the best video I've ever seen. Very straightforward. Watching you work with wood makes me want to be a carpenter. We made a 12*12 A frame tractor for egg layers two years ago without doing too much planning. It's worked well but it's heavy. No plastic. I think I go overboard on space since I can't let them free range. I use chicken wire and have had chickens for ten years. I've never had a problem. Maybe it would be a problem if they didn't have a roost or a covered area at night, or if their roost was too close to the ground and not covered/protected. Anyway, we're planning our next build and expanding our flock. My husband wants to build pvc tractors so they're not too heavy but I want wood. I was able to move the wood tractor last year. I like the simplicity of this design and improvements that you made. I was wondering if I should make a very simple, larger like maybe 8*10*4? Partially covered Pvc/chicken wire run they could have access to during the day. Is that overkill? Am I over thinking? Happy hens lay more eggs! I also like the idea from one of the commenters about the non toxic clear coat for protection of the wood. We used flex seal and caulk last time and it was expensive and didn't wear as well as we had hoped. Again, great video❤️
Hi Jason, I have to laugh along with you watching this video when you called your pigs ...chickens.. Well how about this...why not name both of the Bernice..lol, this should end that craze...I really enjoy watching you guys on your homestead, it's a very encouraging to my family and myself..keep up the good work.
Like the new changes you made. That's something that you have to do sometimes to go with what works for you..... & your chickens. 😁 Thanks for the video. May have to try this design later on. 👍
I like your chicken tractor better than others I have seen anywhere. Slide an old piece of garden hose or pool noodle on the pull rope, makes a cushion for your hand. Good job.!!!
I know I'm 3 years too late but, when making your notch in a 2x4, use a screw driver or piece of steel, the thickness of your saw blade, and put it in a cut and pull it sideways. It should pop that section (a little wafer) out, and you won't need to use the wood chisel and hammer. Try it.
Seen another version of this same tractor today , except the tubing was inside the 2x4,frame, and not outside the frame . Gave the wire a smoother look, but chickens arent impressed easily. (-: your good with wood. Your tractor looks good. Keep up the good work .
Great build 🔨. Also thinking the main frame design be great for a mini grow tunnel for kids, just replacing the wire with plastic and putting plant tray shelves on the sides and could also put these on the back wall as well 😀 🌱
I have been using a non-toxic water sealant called Garden Seal on all my outdoor coops and builds. It’s the same texture as milk, paints on easily, smells like Elmer’s glue, and works very well. I’m pretty confident it’s safe next to my birds and vegetables like it claims. Should add a couple of seasons to my builds as well. Keeps water from penetrating your wood and keeps it looking new, showing that it works. Would highly recommend if you want to add a little more durability to your outdoor builds.
How many chickens do you house in the new smaller tractor? I'm going to build one & am trying to decide whether to make one with cattle panels (hoop coop) or this style. Thanks for all you do, really enjoy your channel!
Would you say it would be easy for a 65 year old lady to pull , because I really love this. I let my chickens roam from their permanent house , this would really be great since I have an entire acre to move them around!
Since all you cuts for the half lap joints are going to the same depth just mount the router to a plate wider than the half lep adjust the depth of cut a lil bit deeper for each pass
Depends if you only want to move them once a day and not do more than 50% damage. I think 3 feet a bird for eggs and meat eaters 4 and 5 when they getting big.
I’m so thankful you made this video! I was trying to figure out how to modify these exact plans for layers. Thank you!! Any chance you want to drive on down to Greenville SC and help me build one?!! 😬
Great video. I’m in the process of building my first chicken tractor for both egg layers and meat chickens. When you say they live in this all year. Do you modify anything for the winter? Do you add any heat lamps or hay
Loved the video and now I feel a little more confident about doing kerfing for the first time! I was wondering if you do anything special for the winter months with this tractor? I assume because you have the electric netting that is why you can get away with chicken wire versus hardware cloth? Thank you and I look forward to catching up on all your videos!
Hi Jason - I tried to find the chicken tractor plans, but can't find them by scrolling products or searching on the link provided in the description. Can you please help? Thanks!
Why did You add a full 90° bend at the end of the pipe? I am thinking that just a 45° at the ends so the pipe is parallel to the board ether use pipe mounting brackets or make a stake pocket out of 3 peices of scrap wood one on each side and a peice to bridge those 2
I like your sense of humor and the retro music you play in a lot of your videos. Also appreciate when your wife shares cooking and plant information.
thank you!

To keep from having sore hands pulling on a rope to move the chicken tractor, you may want to put a small piece of garden hose around the rope or a piece of conduit.
Every garden hose I've had has broken in half due to our random weather changes.
Put a piece of pool noodle and then you can hook your elbow around it to pull 🤣
Use pvc /pipe.
I used a piece of pex over mine
You always make building things look so easy! Awesome to see you just modify a design you like to fit your needs.
I’ve been looking for a video like this. So many videos are for meat birds
We’re building our first Suscovich chicken tractor next month for our kids 4H meat birds. I love your changes to turn it into a layer house.
awesome! thanks!
How did your build go?
Jason, that black hen has circled around the Egg Mobile three times already. let her in!! Great video!!
I've always enjoyed John's design for pastured poultry and like your modifications for a laying flock. If we do a pastured flock of layers again I'll do this design. My old ones always ended up quite heavy to move.
Love this! Love watching all your great ideas on homesteading. You and Justin Rhodes are my favorites. ♡

You certainly bring a smile to my face, as you joke around while working. Thanks

Great video. You are always smiling in everything you do. Love it. Hugs from Ft. Worth, Texas!
Great job
You seam to enjoy building.
Love the ideas.
Love them jointing and glue.
Keep it up and I will keep watching
Nice to see you made another one, Keep them rolling.
thanks for sharing
Great job. I'm loving the videos... someone may have commented this already, but flip that chisel over.. you'll get used to the angle... it will make those notches easier... have a great day!
You made a good chicken tractor better with your modifications. Keep moving forward, always getting better. Best Wishes. Grandpa Jones. 😃
You can install skis under so it slides easier
Hi...... Jason (Sow the land). I enjoy your video, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🐔🐓🐥🌱🎥👍👍👍
Thanks, I like the modifications you made for egg laying, the rope, sliding easier and reducing weight. It would be nice to see something for a food and water station built in.
Your work is beautiful Jason. Love the old world craftsmanship! If I can talk my husband into getting chickens again, I may use this model coop.
Jason you are a great teacher.
Great video showing how easy the Suscovich tractor is to build!
Hi I have been watching your Vlogs for a good while and just whatchd you build the Chicken egg laying mobile and what a wonderful idea.x
For a city boy you sure know what to do with wood!
I watch John as well. Nice conversion Jason looks good
Dude! I love this design!!!!!! Yikes, our chicks are a week old..... hmmmm, I need to figure out a coop FAST!!!!
I might just give this design a try. Great video man!!
I think its the best chicken tractor I've seen! Great job, enjoyed the video!
Thanks for Sharing!! WE Love your videos!! You guys are such an inspiration to us all! Best Wishes in all your adventures!

yup! thanks!
Great adaptation! I plan on building these as well, but modifying a bit.
Also having the ability to move ur coop is priceless, less stinky
I'm so glad somebody finally did this, keep it up! Could you sometime, depending if it would work for you, also do a video on building a chicksa, like Justin Rhodes' uses?
How are the chickens in the winter time with that?
I dig it sir, i just built the Mr. Rhodes chickshaw and absolutely love it. Might have to try John's design for the meat birds.
Love ur videos brother ..when I quit corporate America. Will do whatvir family do..
Nice work. Happy chickens, more eggs. Keep up the good work. 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️
thanks for all the positive comments Gaston. we really appreciate it!

As long as You have extra batts for Your cordless tools add a occaslating tool to clean out the half laps instead of the chisel
Great Coop Modification! Bet it's going to be your fav!👍😊
10:10 genius nesting buckets!
Your chickens seem to like the new coop! 🐓

Good job on the chicken tractor son I’m sure they will love there new pad 🐔🐓
Good idea and modified the chicken tractor of John
That's some chicken love y'all thank you for today
Great build 🔨. Also thinking the main frame design be great for a mini grow tunnel for kids, just replacing the wire with plastic and putting plant tray shelves on the sides and could also put these on the back wall as well 😀 🌱
GOOD MORNING THANK YOU SO MUCH

Beautiful job, thanks for sharing I love 💕 your videos
Incredible piece of work.
This might be just what we need. I see this video is 4 years old though, would you recommend a different design here in 2024? Thank you!
How many chickens do you house in the new smaller tractor? I'm going to build one & am trying to decide whether to make one with cattle panels (hoop coop) or this style. Thanks for all you do, really enjoy your channel!
Чатыр жаап койгонуң сонун экен менда жасайм буйруса
Bernice is spoiled! sMiles...Love the work!
i dig the side shields on the specs man, very stylish. also those milwaukee demo gloves are the shit aren't they
Would you say it would be easy for a 65 year old lady to pull , because I really love this. I let my chickens roam from their permanent house , this would really be great since I have an entire acre to move them around!
It will be easy to pull, and good exercise too, plus free fertilizer for your acre!
Great video 👍🏼useful
Looks great! They'll love it.
Why not use your router to notch the wood instead of chisselling? And maybe scrap metal along the bottom of the base 2x4's for smoother skiing?
No reason. Chicken tractor has wheels. the metal may get caught on the long grass. I like the idea though. thanks!
Since all you cuts for the half lap joints are going to the same depth just mount the router to a plate wider than the half lep adjust the depth of cut a lil bit deeper for each pass
Hi could I have the rough estimate cost of the greenhouse you built for Justin.
EGG-CELLENT modifications. I'll add a way to pull it with the side-by-side.
Hi Jason! quick question. How many laying hens do you think this would accommodate?
Im curious too
Rule of thumb is 2 sq ft per adult chicken
Depends if you only want to move them once a day and not do more than 50% damage. I think 3 feet a bird for eggs and meat eaters 4 and 5 when they getting big.
Hey really cool. Love it.
Love the chicken tractor, egg mobile. 💖😍
Can you please link your modifications so I can make an egg mobile. Thanks
How many laying chickens does this hold? Do you need for spaces than 2 to lay eggs in?
awesome video! how many birds would fit in that size?
Wht do meat birds not need nesting boxes? Are they roosters?
are you using 3/4 inch EMT pipe
How do you deal with the winter cold in this chicken tractor? Do you add heat or are they ok like in a coop.
Awesome. I am going to make something similar. I was looking for suggestions and bam, you show up! :) great video!!!
What kind of tarps do you use for the roof? thank you
I’m so thankful you made this video! I was trying to figure out how to modify these exact plans for layers. Thank you!! Any chance you want to drive on down to Greenville SC and help me build one?!! 😬
Thanks for sharing
very nice video keep it up👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
curious to know how many chens you could keep in this set up?
Great video. I’m in the process of building my first chicken tractor for both egg layers and meat chickens. When you say they live in this all year. Do you modify anything for the winter? Do you add any heat lamps or hay
Great video no bs.thank you.
How many hens can you fit in here?
Great video, thank you for the info.
This is SUPER helpful! Thank you!
How does it do in wind though?
Loved the video and now I feel a little more confident about doing kerfing for the first time! I was wondering if you do anything special for the winter months with this tractor? I assume because you have the electric netting that is why you can get away with chicken wire versus hardware cloth? Thank you and I look forward to catching up on all your videos!
Very nicely done!
That’s one fine egg house!!😉

good ideas...
Awesome skills ! I thought you work on an office before moving to NC , where did you learn all of that? Best wishes from Puerto Rico 💪🏼
great sir
thank you for sharing your idea!!!
You are most welcome
