Angela Lansbury has had numerous career turns, all of them just amazing! She started out as the tragic Sybil Vane in PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. (Singing "Little Yellow Bird"). And, the tarty maid in GASLIGHT....1944.. In tv/ film roles like this one, where her sweetness and sensuality often show up in equal measure - making for delightful drama. LONG, HOT SUMMER with Orson Welles....MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, as the mother from Hell....And, later on - MAME...and finally Jessica Fletcher!! Such a versatile, fine actress - never, ever boring to watch.
I grew up in the 90’s watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Beauty and the Beast on my Grandma’s old vhs. Then Murder She Wrote on daytime tv in the UK. Good times. I believe Dame Angela Lansbury is still going strong at 93! ❤️
@@jett8193 That was her first movie. And the way she used her eyes when around her master... Singing up on a balloon when they meet accidentally on the landing. 30 years down the line I still remember the Coy arch Cupid bow pout factor. Very impressive.
I love all these TV drama films. I was a 8 yr old in the late 50’s and these would be on WPIX NY one of the 6 t v stations and these would come on late night early morning I would sneak to our playroom in the basement to watch these wonderful actors
Did you see “Gaslight” with Boyer and Bergman? The ultimate vengeance in my life! I live vicariously from that movie! How perfect . Use his own tactics to catch him and defeat him. That’s me in a nutshell. When God told me to stop taking vengeance I said “but Lord I’m really good at it” I don’t think he accepted my answer.
An allegory on the dark side of being the absolute best you can be. Success is not for everyone. There is a lot to be said for just being ordinary. Strange that the three main actors were all very successful in their own right.
WOW!!!!! Charles Boyer yet!!!! And naturally Angela Lansbury! I didn't recognize her at first. And then National in 1944! She was 15 at that time and there was no mistaking her. She had a very working class english accent! She was born in England but her folks had come from Ireland. She is now a citizen of Republic of Ireland.

According to IMDB ( only source I could find info about The star & the Story ) there are only two seasons : 1st on 1955 and 2nd 1956 (and no season 3 ). IMDB's episodes list does not mention any episode broadcasted on april 14 1955. I googled a lot to know who used to air the series and could not find this information. You mention it was broadcasted by CBS , where did you get this info ?
TV's "Four Star Playhouse" in the early 50's. This series, headed by Dick Powell, Charles Boyer, David Niven, and Ida Lupino as the core of a repertory company that performed a variety of different short plays, grew into Four Star Television, which produced many popular series in the late 50s and early 60s.
Ha ha ha!! Just for a little swim my dear. Both her, Angela Lansbury's, husbands, David Niven and Charles Boyer, got rid of her by accepting the same tactics.
Thank you so much for generously sharing these videos! I love the Four Star Playhouse, Playhouse 90, etc. Do you happen to have access to the original series, black and white, of The Outer Limits? Have you ever seen the series, "The Veil"? It stars Boris Karloff and other guest stars. Thank you, again, for posting this video. God Bless!!! 😃

P.F. You are really a friend indeed... Thank you for the entertainment. 🌹
Oh, the class and quality of these old TV shows. It's like a whole movie compressed into an half hour. Very well done!
Absolutely love this programme, I adore Dame Angela Lansbury ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brilliantly funny and human. These actors are great, wonderful and a piece of theatrical history. Thank you for presenting to a delighted audience.

Angela Lansbury could read the phone directory and make it wonderful theater
A great gift! Lansbury with Boyer and Niven. Thank you very match for put this episode.
Love the ending, made me laugh. Thanks for the video 😃😃
Boyer and Niven were two of the four stars behind "Four Star Television" which produced this picture.
Well, thanks for the info! Great stars of the past were all three!
Angie was so beautiful and still the same voice. God bless all her performances
What a great little story! There was some seriously talented acting going on back then.

She's also in "Gaslight" (the 1944 one with Ingrid Bergman), as a flirty maid. Great movie, very worth watching!

She was quite lovely. Interestingly she did not consider herself , 'a beauty'.
@@bethelle9099 She had the face of a grandmother her whole career. I don´t know if it was how she styled herself or what...
She is still a lovely lady
First and only movie in which C Boyer wasn’t CHAIN SMOKING!
You left out her early role as Elizabeth Taylor's elder sister in National Velvet.
Gee, we had some pretty good stuff in the US. nice to know. . . :}
Thank you, Angie was a hottie in her youth. Quite the natural :)
It would be more respectful to women to NOT call them "hotties." She had a regal beauty, not some dance hall attractiveness.
Note to self: Must not be some average dance hall level of attractive 😭

Terribly cute short! I wasn't aware these shorter stories were made. Were they for theatrical release or for nascent tv play?
