The guy who you kept asking about is Onew (oh-new), he's the leader and the eldest! His voice is really unique. And the guy who you said was your favorite is Minho, probably one of the most down to earth guys in kpop. If you want to listen to more of their songs, I'd recommend checking out Love Like Oxygen, Juliette, Married to the Music and Juice next! (4 absolute bangers btw)
If you see the live concert version of the Sherlock song, you will be surprised because the highnotes are higher than in the MV and they performed it Live
Haha I think Minho was pushed to be a really serious dude early on like in Sherlock. In later years he’s become a lot sillier and more emotive. He’s a fun dude!
Don't be so surprised by how different the songs are haha you are barely scratching the surface of their discography. You will love them they have beautiful ballads as well. Also, the live performances are the best!
SHINee is and always will be 5 Jonghyun is just watching them from above, currently Onew( pronounced Oh-New) is on hiatus for medical reasons.. if you watch their live performancees you'll notice sometimes they will point and look upto the sky acknowledging Jonghyun... Also in 1of1 i believe Onew was out for an injury at the time so you wont see him dancing...
NO. Onew is NOT pronounced as you say. Onew is the romanized spelling of 온유 so it is pronounced on-yu. You can verify this with a simple Korean translator. That is why Onew plays with "odd eye" lyrics when he is singing "My eyes on you".
Several things about Shinee are inspired by Michael Jackson, like the vocal technique, the dances, which we usually think are easy but in reality they have a lot of body control and even Taemin is known as the Korean MJ and as the best dancer too, he is best friend of kai and jimin from bts was inspired by him when he was a trainee (now they have a group of friends known as the padding squad which are those 3 and other idols)
All these songs are great but if you want to see brilliance you need to see the live versions. The energy they get from the audience & each other gets put into their performance, making the performances iconic.

You may have noticed that "Sherlock" felt like you were listening to more than one song because it's a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's album "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this MV is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album, you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." So, in the MV you hear the mashup of the two songs. Therefore, you may notice if you watch a live performance of "Sherlock (Clue & Note)", Minho's whisper part in their live performance is different than what you heard in the MV because when they perform it live, they chose different parts of "Clue" and "Note" to create "Sherlock" each time. Therefore, their performance is never exactly the same, which is one reason why SHINee's concerts are considered one of the best. No matter how many times you have heard a song or seen them perform, you will never get the same thing twice. In SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV the boys are Sherlock-like detectives who are looking for clues among the archives and displays in an old museum. The "ghost" girl -- who is played by Jessica Jung, the former member of Girls' Generation, a group that is also part of SM Entertainment -- is helping SHINee solve a mystery by leaving them clues. At the end they realize that the girl they have been seeing and chasing after all day is actually the girl that was originally involved in the mystery when they find an article talking about her from 1910 and they discover that they must have been seeing a ghost. The room where they have their dance breaks is the main hall of the museum, like a large ballroom in a mansion or great hall, etc. And the compass rose star in the middle of the floor I interpret to represent SHINee who are known as shining stars and it's a symbol for how they are navigating the globe as they reach fans all over the world. In this song and MV SHINee are supposed to be detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line on the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and they have that move that looks like they are brushing dust from their sleeves, etc. Yes, the brand name on the computer was iWatson. Like Sherlock Holmes' sidekick Watson. The computer helped SHINee solve the mystery. SHINee was actually starting a fashion trend at that time. SHINee are known for being one step ahead when it comes to fashion because they are the ones that start the trends in Korea that eventually influence fashion trends around the world. Fashion designers actually covet a chance to work with SHINee, or any of the members individually for that matter, because they know that if they can get SHINee to wear their clothes that they will become super popular. And, yes, this was the era of Taemin with long hair. Although, in the MV, Taemin's really long hair was a wig. He only has long straight hair during the dance breaks, but during the story sections his hair is much shorter and kind of curly. (He had to go back and forth between long and short hair for the MV shoot so it was easier for them to use a wig, but later on for promotions he had hair extensions.) However, he really did grow his hair long for a while, as you saw during "Lucifer" area in 2010. Taemin with long hair is one of his most iconic looks. I didn't really like his wig look, but Taemin with naturally long hair/hair extensions during Sherlock era is one of my favorites. (He is actually known for making girls jealous because his hair is so perfect.) Many people thing that Taemin with long hair made him look pretty like a girl, but I actually think it's kind of a masculine look on him. Taemin's hairstyle also made him one of the most popular of the members with their Japanese fans. This was the era when SHINee really started to solidify themselves as Japanese artists, so Taemin's look had Japanese fans gravitating to them. (SHINee debuted in Japan in 2011 and now they are considered one of the most popular artists in Japan as well.) "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" came out in 2012 -- 4 years after their debut with "Replay." So Taemin is now 18 in this MV. Onew is 22, Jonghyun is 21 and Key and Minho are 20. The choreography for "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was created by Tony Testa a very well-known "Hollywood"-famous American choreographer who has also worked with some of the most famous artists, productions and dancers in the world, including Michael Jackson. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever. Once again, SHINee were trendsetters and, because of SHINee's skill level, SM became the first to see the value in using a well-known choreographer to help create their dances and to strive for a level of choreography and video production that surpassed anything that had ever been done before. (Now, SHINee -- and numerous SM groups -- have worked with Tony Testa multiple times over the years.) Today it's common place for Kpop companies to have really famous in-house choreographers, and to seek out people in the industry who are really making a name for themselves to choreograph for them, but SHINee was one of the first. If you want to see the choreography even better, you should check out SHINee's "Sherlock" dance practice video, or better yet, one of their live concert performances of "Sherlock (Clue & Note)." I recommend their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul performance from 2015, th-cam.com/video/M4pINahBoRY/w-d-xo.html. If you think the MV is good, just wait until you see them perform it live. "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" live is on a whole other level.
about the guide, the most popular guide is the shortest one but it's quite outdated (2018), i would like to recommend some great updated guides: Deep Dive into SHINee (imo the best out there) Who is SHINee? A member introduction to the princes of Kpop (shorter) their solo stuff is really really good too, all of them have great albums and they have different vibes. for the introduction i'd recommend Taemin - Guilty Key - Bad Love Onew - Circle Jonghyun - She Is Minho - Chase
The 1 of 1 music video was a reference to music videos from the early 90s, there used to be a lot of white rooms filled with dancers in colorful clothes back in the day.
How I interpret the story in SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" MV is, the song is about a sort of love at first sight and thoughts of that person keep ringing through your head, so much so that you start to become obsessed with them. It's more than just protecting the girl or your love, but it's about wanting to have her all to yourself and not allowing anyone else to come between you, etc. (As the English part of the lyrics says, "Fantastic, elastic ..." because thoughts of that person are constantly bouncing around in your head.) In the MV, if you notice, at one point, you see all the members dressed in white and they are standing in an all-white room looking into the mirror. However, the image they see in the mirror is not their reflection, but what seems to be their alter ego or inner self because you see their mirror images with brooding expressions and they have wings. But their wings are not white like an angel who is pure and good, they are grey like angels of darkness. So, maybe this is showing how their thoughts are not a pure and innocent love, but one of passion and possession, etc. You see them in the white room with the white clothes because I see that as showing how they are hiding their true selves -- on the outside people think they look innocent and pure, but once you get to know them, they have far less pure intentions. When in their black and red outfits this is more their true selves. The only explanation I can see as to why they are shown lighting the candles without even touching them is a way to make it clear that they are different than what they seem and they may have "magical powers" that can be used to attract the girl and make her theirs, etc. I interpret the butterfly they talk about in the lyrics, and the ones you see them with in the MV, to represent the girl and how she is beautiful, and fragile and flits around in their life attracting them and distracting them, etc. and they want to capture her and make her theirs. It is also thought that maybe SM is now using the butterfly to connect the storylines between SM's groups. Some theories think that maybe SHINee's black butterfly is connected to the butterfly we see in EXO's debut "Mama" MVs from 2012, which could also be connected to NingNing's butterfly in aespa's storyline from 2020. The white butterflies in the jar could even be connected to the butterflies in NCT-127's "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021. The butterfly is thought to possibly represent the heart of the Tree of Life from EXO's storyline and the white butterfly could be the butterfly that helps aespa navigate through Kwangya in aespa's "ep. 2 'Next Level' -- SM Culture Universe" video, which would help to connect all of SM's groups' storylines together. The butterfly keeps appearing in all of SM's MVs because its what helps the members of SM navigate through Kwangya. (Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists storylines revolve around and it's even the name of SM's head quarters where everything is created.) Although SHINee's storyline may not have originally been designed to connect to anything outside of their group, I think SM has been using things from their older groups' MVs as "happy coincidences" in order to draw everyone into their SM Culture Universe storyline. Beyond that, I don't really have an explanation of anything else that is happening in the "Ring Ding Dong" MV. Most of it I interpret as just part of the aesthetic of what was the new cool think and what they were doing with MVs in 2009. The boys' hair and clothing styles and the aesthetic of the MV was supposed to give them more of a bad boy image, to sort of contrast the fact that when they debuted with "Replay" in 2008 they had a boy next door image and they were given the title as the nation's younger boyfriends -- people had a pure and wholesome image of them -- so they wanted to show that as SM's experimental boy group, people should never expect them to stay the same. SHINee will forever be changing up their image to show many different sides of themselves and all different styles of music and dance. "Ring Ding Dong" was showing a new side of SHINee. This was only SHINee's second comeback after debut, so it established their role as the ever changing and evolving group that was expected to keep setting trends and coming up with new concepts, styles and sounds. Fun Fact: Minho's long hair and Jonghyun's "Lion" hairstyle in "Ring Ding Dong" is such an iconic look. But Minho always hated this hairstyle, LOL. He has never liked having long hair. He begged SM to allow him to cut his hair and it took a few weeks before they would let him do it. They made him wait until they were done promoting this album because their hairstyles were part of the album's concept. And therefore, Minho has refused to ever grow his hair out again. ;P Also, almost all of SM's boy groups had similar hairstyles during this time period. :D Take a look at Super Junior or TVXQ in 2009. Their hair looked like this too. hehehe. This was just sort of the look for Korean entertainers back in the day. SHINee were setting tends even with their hair. As you discovered, "Ring Ding Dong," is one of SHINee's most popular songs. This song is part of the era when auto tune was brand new and it was the new cool thing that everyone was using in their new songs. SHINee was ahead of their time when this song came out and it blew people away for its sound and style, which many had never heard before. :D This is totally the look and sound that was just becoming the new it thing back in 2009. "Ring Ding Dong" is such an iconic song and it's so catchy that it has been said that in Korea this song is banned from being played anywhere or listened to during college entrance exam time. When it first came out, students complained that the song would get stuck in their heads and they couldn't concentrate on their studies or on the test. :D This is also one of SHINee's iconic choreographies and it is one of the dances that every rookie group in the industry, both boy groups and girl groups, are required to learn and know, and most have covered the song and dance at least once in their career, even still today. If you want to hear the song without the auto tune then you need to hear them perform it live in concert. Try their live MBC music festival performance of "Ring Ding Dong" in 2016, th-cam.com/video/_lYurocLpi8/w-d-xo.html. Or their performance of "Ring Ding Dong" and "Lucifer" set at their SHINee world Concert V in Seoul, also in 2016. SHINee's songs are always way different performed live. You will see why SHINee are icons.
You should react to them live. They are a powerhouse live. Try and listen to them singing "dear name" (a cover to iu's song) someday. They take her song to another level and then you can see each member's individual talent. And Onew (your favorite voice) slays!
30:12 That's Lee Jinki or Onew. It's pronounced kinda like OnYou or O-New. It means Gentle or something along those lines. He is my ult! He is currently sick tho, we are trying to be calm and patient for his return. His voice was basically what made me a permanent K-pop fan in the two seconds I heard him. Shinee are all great singers, but Jinki is so so so special! Robotic is how I would describe it too, a bit like a machine. And he sounds like that when he speaks too. I've argued a lot that it's not effects unless he has them on stream all the time too. He randomly sings on stream and is the same. It actually feels very off when they put the distorted autotune on him He already sounds inhuman enough. Very distinct and cool voice. If there is one of them I feel like isn't into the idol shit, it's Onew :D I am always happy to see people biasing Minho (your fave) This last album was definitely his era, and yet, lately, he isn't getting the appreciation he deserves. He is also an actor, I bet if you watch some dramas you'll end up seeing him. He is into sports a lot too and loves kids. I legit used some of his ways of communicating with children. He made me better at it. You have to watch some of the videos of him and Key - another one of the members - bickering like an old couple. it's super funny. I think he avoids the idol things he doesn't like and is in a solid enough group to do that. he rarely streams for example. But he is cute on Bumble :D Minho seems like a very driven, and incredibly kind person. SM basically stalked him until he agreed to become a trainee... Shinee don't really have a "lore" just a concept more or less. They are their own thing. Even when they try to put them in the SM thing.
Yeah, Onew had badly sprained his ankle during a concert before the 1 of 1 comeback and couldn't dance for the music video filming. He fortunately healed up in time to promote the song on music shows, though. RDD is, er, dated, but it's basically a K-pop staple; there's this old video of them performing it at a music festival and the whole stadium of various groups' fans erupts straight into BAAAAAYBEEEE 네게 반해버린 내게. It makes for a great live performance, too. Without the autotune. :P For SHINee, I really recommend watching live performances - so much better than the MVs, though they're also great. Unless the performance is from a SK music show, or for a Japanese song, TH-cam won't block any reactions.
You'll be happy to know that there is no lore for SHINee. If there was, they wouldn't care anyway. They would clown it and then pretend to forget it ever existed. Apart from Taemin, he would really forget it existed ;)
Here are some fun facts about SHINee's "1 of 1" MV: "1 of 1" came out in 2016 and it is the title track on SHINee's 5th full length Korean album. SHINee debuted on May 25, 2008, (5/25). In this MV there were 25 girls. In other words, 5 members + 25 girls = 5/25. All the girls in this MV are models, so that is why they don't really dance, and if you notice, most of the girls are taller than the SHINee members LOL -- but that's OK because it fits the theme of the MV well. The reason why the MV has this look and feel is because the whole album has a retro '90s theme. For example, in the '90s often the girls that were featured in MVs were well known models and actresses, not backup dancers. The MV was supposed to have that slightly awkward, unpolished look and feel to it because it was part of the retro aesthetic. Also, if you notice, either the time stamp on the MV or the time stamp on the song is exactly 5:25 as well. As someone who was a teenager in the '90s, I can attest to the fact that this whole project is the perfect example of the '90s. Everything, from the look of the set with the all-white background to the clothes everyone wore, to their dance moves, to the video editing and the sound of the song, was all '90s. They even released some of their albums on cassette tape as part of a limited collector's edition to further celebrate the '90s theme. It's amazing how every song SHINee releases is very unique and unlike any other, and yet, every time, no matter what, it always has that very SHINee feel. Take note of the very end scene where you see the members all standing in their suits. It's easy to tell who each members is, even if you don't know SHINee, because this is the order you will see them standing or sitting in for almost everything they do. Onew is the one in the red, Taemin is the one in the yellow, Jonghyun is the one in the blue, Minho is the one in the black and Key is in brown. Even their starting positions in their choreography will often have them standing in this order. You almost never see them in interviews or in press photos, not in that order. As the main rapper of SHINee Minho writes all his own rap sections, and as part of SHINee's experimental concept they never do the same thing twice, so Minho's rap style changes to fit the style and concept of the song. I wouldn't necessarily say he has a "robot filter" on his voice. What you are hearing is the rap is designed to fit the '90s theme of the song. Plus, just wait until you hear the song live, Minho sounds almost the same live without any "filter," because I'm pretty sure he is using a vocal technique not a filter on his voice, to give him that sound and fell. Thank SHINee member Key for all the fashion in this MV. As SM's director of fashion, Key, in consultation with their stylist, was the one who picked out the outfits and styled everyone for this MV, including the models' outfits. And he pulled together the perfect '90s looks. :D (He spent some time in middle school -- before becoming a trainee with SM at around age 14 -- studying in Australia and the U.S. Which is why he is fluent in English and is so into western culture.) I heard Minho say once that he dyed his hair blond for this comeback because his mom told him he should do it. Appreciate Minho's hair while you can because there has only been a handful of times in the past 15 years that Minho has ever dyed his hair any other color besides brown or auburn. And when he has, it doesn't stay that color for more than a few weeks. :D Minho is a lead actor in a lot of K-dramas and movies. So, one of the reasons why I think he doesn't dye his hair as often as other idols, is because of his acting roles. The majority of the roles that he plays are boy next door-type characters or historical dramas, etc. so, he needs to look as average as he can. (Or, at least as average as a guy who was born with model good looks can anyway. LOL) When not working with SHINee he is almost always working on his next drama or movie. And, Onew sprained his ankle in concert right before they started promoting for this album, so he was unable to dance. That is why you saw him sitting down the whole time in the MV and why there are only 4 of them in the dance breaks. It was several weeks into promotions for this song before Onew was able to participate in the choreography. If you want to see all 5 of them dancing you will have to check out one of their last live comeback stage performances or their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in Seoul "1 Of 1" stage.
The position they sit or stand always remain d same...its like this in kpop...u look at nct 127...u see d same thing in concert wen they greet n talk to audience...especially for SM grps.
Onew is the one you are always asking "who's this guy". Dude got a unique voice, can sing opera and holder of Kpop's longest sustained note. Dude's a gigachad vocally.
As you may know, "Atlantis" -- which is the title track from SHINee's repackaged Atlantis album that came out in 2021 and is a partner album to Don't Call Me -- is a mythical city that is part of a story within Greek mythology, referring to the Lost City of Atlantis. The story of Atlantis is most often depicted as a utopian society on an island that became submerged and lost in the middle of the ocean. SHINee's MV is referencing to the lost city of Atlantis, so it's supposed to look like they are visiting Atlantis at the bottom of the sea. The whole MV is a reference to the story of Atlantis, which is why you see them selling seafood and why they are underwater, etc. Yes, all the members of SHINee have amazing high note abilities. I'm not even exaggerating. SHINee are known as vocal kings for a reason. That is what makes SHINee so outstanding and why they are so highly respected in the industry. They are idols of idols and legends even among legends for a reason. Onew, SHINee's leader -- the smiley one with the brown cardigan sweater -- is the one with the high note that was shocking you. He is actually known as one the best male vocalists that all other idols covet a chance to get to sing with. And if you are impressed with that 8 second high note, just wait until you see his cover performance of "Friend" way back at the beginning of his career. He actually holds the record for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch at 40+ seconds. Key is the one with the teal patchwork jacket and the purple sparkly top, Minho is the one with the tiger striped sweater and Taemin is the one with the red leather jacket. How I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret, you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. The SHINee members are supposed to have power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Plus, if I had to guess, it also might be something linking SHINee to SM's SM Culture Universe. Most of SM's groups' storylines are connected in some way and they are all part of one big story. For example, I think the soda can we see appear in Key's hand in "Atlantis" is connected to the soda can we see in Key's solo "Hate That ..." MV. (However, I'm not yet sure whether the can magically pops into his hand in "Atlantis" because it is coming from its original location in "Hate That ..." or if it appears in "Hate That ..." because Key brought it from "Atlantis." ) Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs, they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason. If you pay attention to his lyrics you will see they have a lot of deep meaning and they enhance the story and add more depth to the song. For example, the long sss sound you hear at the end of his rap lines in "Atlantis" are supposed to mimic the sound of waves as they crash on shore or against the rocks, etc. Minho is actually quite poetic when it comes to his songwriting. You should check out the behind the scenes MV shoot for "Atlantis", th-cam.com/video/jn6qkSNro9A/w-d-xo.html, to really see how detailed everything in the MV was. Fun fact: Although all the aqua blue you see in this MV is supposed to represent water and the city of Atlantis, because SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua, all the aqua, blue and green colors you see in the MV also represent SHINee as a group and their connection to their fans. Also, SHINee will forever be a group of 5, so, they always make sure to include their main vocalist Jonghyun, who passed away in 2017, in everything they do. Therefore, if you pay attention to the choreography, when the members put their arms on each others' shoulders, you see Taemin stretches his arm out as if he is resting it on an invisible person next to him, which is thought to be a nod to the fact that this is where Jonghyun would be. Even in other parts of the choreography they leave a wide gap in the middle, which fans also think was done as a reference to Jonghyun's spot in the group. Jonghyun was almost always the center position with everything SHINee does.
So happy u doing SHINee today cos i was at their concert in Singapore yesterday!!! It took them 12 years to come back here but i m happy cos Taemin Minho n Key were superb...we missed Onew n d late Jonghyun of cos but d maknae line covered their lines well n d selection of songs was from all eras...some old some new but all great!!!
Watch performance video for Shinee song “Juice “. It was a great loss for Shinee fans when Jonghyun passed away!😢. Some pronounce Onew as Oh New…and some ON new.
You need to react to the amazing live concert performance of RING DING DONG + LUCIFER REMIX from their SWC V concert (no autotune at all just their pure amazing voices).
- There are lots of older kpop songs with light/bright concepts. From Shinee: Love like oxygen, Juliette, Hello - I'd recommend checking out RDD live so you can hear it without all the autotune. There's an iconic stage from SWC5 where they did it and Lucifer together. - If you watch the live stage of 'Excuse me miss' (SWC4), they do a roll-call at the end, so you can hear how to pronounce the names. Also just a great performence.
If u want to know the name and faces please watch excuse me miss live. 😊 And yes they have distinct voices. Once u know who's who.. It's easier to tell them apart just by listening. 😊
I recommend to do a session with 1 of their solo songs each. 1) It is amazing how they all have solo careers that sound totally different 2) I think it will drive home the qualities of each member (and make it easier to remember who's who😉) Plus Onew singing Rainy Blue or Taemins Advice or Keys Killer etc. are just so damn good and listening to them is just a blast 😁😁 Glad you're having fun and finding cool music with Shinee 💕
@@sleeplessnight03 That's fair. I just love that performance and legit forgot for a second that it's a cover due to how personal the performance is for him. Yeah Circle might be better ☺
Its O New or On You, Oh New, so good you are digging into SHINee. Wait until you get into their live stuff. They are phenomenal. I recommend you check out Juice mv, and live performances like Excuse Me Miss, Odd Eye, Selene 6.23 1 of 1 is all 80s 90s vibes that even their album was released on casette. 😂 Hilarious the time we were all looking for walkmans to play the casette on. Oh in 1 of 1 you pointed out Key the one in a cap and brown suit has excellent solo music. I hope you dig into their solo stuff as well. Onew injured his ankle during this mv so he was not dancing.
I would recommend checking out "Hello", "Everybody", "View", and "Married to the Music"... These SHINee MV songs are more vibey with incredible vocals, and probably kinda less experimental than Ring Ding Dong :) Also, please be aware that SHINee is a group in which all 5 members are also amazing soloists with their own amazing albums, each of a different flavour!
Dude ring ding dong was literally banned from schools during testing season because it was so catchy that students couldn’t concentrate while studying bc it was stuck in their heads.
Onew is the romanized spelling of 온유 so it is pronounced on-yu. You can verify this with a simple Korean translator. That is why Onew plays with "odd eye" lyrics when he is singing "My eyes on you".
Well if you're looking for a Michael Jackson vibe, SHINee got it for you. Aside from being hailed as Prince of Kpop, and Beatles of Asia by Japan media because only SHINee influence their music aside from Beatles [ funfact: SHINee hold the most expensive fanclub fee for foreign act on Japan, yes much expensive than EXO, B*S and other idols, that's how popular SHINee in Japan ]... Taemin who is the Maknae/ youngest of SHINee is hailed as Michael Jackson of Korea/Kpop... you could check it yourself, best to watch his dance practice videos to see more of his moves... SHINee got it all, they're all rounder, 5 vocals, dancer, 5 visual, 5 composer and all... looking forward to Taemin reaction.😊
Спасибо большое за реакцию на SHINee , они настолько хороши во всём, что просто супер ! Please, react to some more of their songs : Get the treasure Tell me what to do Married to the music Winter wonderland From now on 🧡 Please check their live performances - all of them are super GREAT ! thank you 💎
Watch Girls Generation, they were in the same generation as Shinee and they have great voices and I recommend watching them (Boy-Mr. Mr. Run Devil Run-I got A boy. They have many great songs. ❤
Poor Onew never gets a shoutout on the solo stuff 😋No I get it Taemin & Keys solo stuff is incredibly to react to cause of the type of music they make and Onews 'soulful contemplative balad music'... what's a reactor suposed to do? Sit there, be mesmerized and not say anything? That's not good content 😅 Yet I dare anyone to listen to Onew singing 'Rainy Blue' in the Tokyo Dome and not fall in love with his music a little bit (especially knowing the context of the performance) 😉🤗
@@DarkHarlequin yeah I definitely love his voice such a talented and amazing artist but recommended taemin and key cause watching his reactions he appreciates a good choreo too so my recommendation is because I wanted him to see the powerful dancers SHINee has beside SHINee's songs Wich onew shines in many songs,I was thinking about the ability of SHINee's dancers I didn't mean to shadow onew he is definitely an amazing and iconic singer and honestly all of them are so talented in general, one of my favorite groups and one of the iconic k-pop bands for sure .
Just call him : O+New, with english spelling the robotic one is Onew ❤❤❤ He is the leader U must listen to View, tell me what to do, I want you, good evening, Dream girl, Hello, everybody too I think u must listen to SM Town artist - Dear My Family and Hope
Please watch the live version of Ring ding dong and lucifer you won’t be disappointed they are the kings of live performances and then your see just how dam good they are
The pronunciation of the leader is Oh-new or probably on-you, either might work... As for the group you did it better this time: (shiny). Ps. The reason why you keep seeing different members appearing in the videos is that throughout their career, they've struggled with some circumstances that couldn't have been avoided. First, it's not a secret to anyone that in 2017 we lost a beloved member (Jonghyun, the one whose voice reminded you of MJ) .... Apart from that in 1of1 (released in 2016) Onew (the robotic-like voice) sprained his ankle during a concert and in order for him to take part in the MV he had to sit during most of the scenes. Then in Hard which was released last year, Onew did take part in it, yet he had to take a break due to health reasons. We were shocked to hear that he had barely managed to record a few scenes ... He's actually still on hiatus. Of course we miss seeing them together.
Please make a reaction to the K-pop solo artist icon - Taemin 🙏🏻❤Taemin- Advice, Guilty, Rizzness, Drip Drop, Press your number, Criminal, Want, Idea , Famous, Heaven (concert version) Sexuality, Black Rose performance. You will be surprised and delighted ❤I promise 😊
Onew is the voice you like in Deep mv. He's on break...something very wrong...but it looks like he's no longer skeletal and working on emotional distress issues...a bit unclear...hoping he will return soon. So they appear as 3 members for past year .
if you want to do some solos you should check out advice, criminal, idea, move & guilty by taemin (really recommend dance practices for those too), bad love, gasoline, killer & good & great (plus the b-side coolas) by key and dice & circle by onew (i don't actually know minho or jonghyun's solo stuff too well but minho had a mini album a couple years ago called chase, to complete the members' solo album series ace, base, face, voice & chase)
If you want a short guide, the best is still 'a very Shinee guide', even though it rather out of date. There are great long guides (over an hour) if you are up for that.
honestly yeah that guide is really quite outdated at this point and imo has too much inside memes that aren't funny/rather awkward to the people who don't know the group
@@sleeplessnight03 I actually love the memes in that guide! Most reactors I've seen watch it seem to get the jist of it even without knowning the group, just makes it a bit lighter than some guides that can get to intense and boring for new/casual fans.
Consider diving into a new group (for you) knowing many watching are huge fans...know almost every song...and cringe that you're exposing new SHINee mv watchers to a less than favorable opinion by adding their least known and least liked mv into your initial deep dive videos.. consider instead chronological order or alternate chronological order with newer hit weeks so again new viewers don't get confused...leaving the mv without many views or well critiqued for later deep dives.
SHINee is 5. That's all.
Ring Ding Dong is iconic af. A GROUNDBREAKING MASTERPIECE AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE
For the 1 of 1 Mv they went back and forth between 4 and 5 members because Onew was injured, that is why he is sitting in most scenes.
UP
Up!
Haha I think Minho was pushed to be a really serious dude early on like in Sherlock. In later years he’s become a lot sillier and more emotive. He’s a fun dude!
SHINee is all about the bsides. Their bsides are more amazing than their mvs especially when preformed live
Ring Ding Dong is an anthem of K-pop
It's the anthem of South Korea 🤭
I recommend Shinee Everybody, Tell me what to do and Body rhythm, Picasso
All the members have solo careers and all of them do very different styles, in case you’re interested!
The distinction between the members doesn't only end in vocals, their dancing, their styles, personalities are so different to each other 😅
That is ONEW, The Incomparable Voice
the guy’s voice you liked in atlantis was Onew (which is pronounced like Oh knew)
NO. Onew is NOT pronounced as you say. Onew is the romanized spelling of 온유 so it is pronounced on-yu. You can verify this with a simple Korean translator.
That is why Onew plays with "odd eye" lyrics when he is singing "My eyes on you".
ah yes Onew's voice is very distinct, when I was a newbie fan I can classify SHINee songs when I hear him 🥹
LMFAOAOA HOW DID YOU KEEP YOUR LAUGHER FOR RING DING DONG ITS SO FUNNY IS A GOOD WAY😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Key has the best, most amazing facials expressions. Just see his solo and live stages.
(SHINee debuted in Japan in 2011 and now they are considered one of the most popular artists in Japan as well.)
"Sherlock (Clue & Note)" came out in 2012 -- 4 years after their debut with "Replay." So Taemin is now 18 in this MV.
"Sherlock (Clue & Note)" live is on a whole other level.
about the guide, the most popular guide is the shortest one but it's quite outdated (2018), i would like to recommend some great updated guides:
Deep Dive into SHINee (imo the best out there)
Who is SHINee? A member introduction to the princes of Kpop (shorter)
their solo stuff is really really good too, all of them have great albums and they have different vibes.
for the introduction i'd recommend
Taemin - Guilty
Key - Bad Love
Onew - Circle
Jonghyun - She Is
Minho - Chase
The 1 of 1 music video was a reference to music videos from the early 90s, there used to be a lot of white rooms filled with dancers in colorful clothes back in the day.
How I interpret the story in SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" MV is, the song is about a sort of love at first sight and thoughts of that person keep ringing through your head, so much so that you start to become obsessed with them. It's more than just protecting the girl or your love, but it's about wanting to have her all to yourself and not allowing anyone else to come between you, etc. (As the English part of the lyrics says, "Fantastic, elastic ..." because thoughts of that person are constantly bouncing around in your head.)
In the MV, if you notice, at one point, you see all the members dressed in white and they are standing in an all-white room looking into the mirror.
(Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists storylines revolve around and it's even the name of SM's head quarters where everything is created.)
Although SHINee's storyline may not have originally been designed to connect to anything outside of their group, I think SM has been using things from their older groups' MVs as "happy coincidences" in order to draw everyone into their SM Culture Universe storyline.
This is also one of SHINee's iconic choreographies and it is one of the dances that every rookie group in the industry, both boy groups and girl groups, are required to learn and know, and most have covered the song and dance at least once in their career, even still today.
SHINee
I highly recommend their live performances - you'll see how long they keep the notes
Minho d rapper dat u like is also an actor.
The member that u like d voice...that lead/main singer...he is Onew(oh new)
30:12
That's Lee Jinki or Onew.
If there is one of them I feel like isn't into the idol shit, it's Onew :D
I am always happy to see people biasing Minho (your fave) This last album was definitely his era, and yet, lately, he isn't getting the appreciation he deserves. But he is cute on Bumble :D
Minho seems like a very driven, and incredibly kind person. SM basically stalked him until he agreed to become a trainee...
Shinee don't really have a "lore" just a concept more or less. They are their own thing. Even when they try to put them in the SM thing.
Ring Ding Dong and Sherlock so iconic!
I am so glad you like Minho, he is such a graceful dancer and I love his solo work!
These SHINee songs are 1000 times better live version. Keep going with SHINee reaction❤😊.
For SHINee, I really recommend watching live performances - so much better than the MVs, though they're also great. Unless the performance is from a SK music show, or for a Japanese song, TH-cam won't block any reactions.
You'll be happy to know that there is no lore for SHINee. If there was, they wouldn't care anyway. They would clown it and then pretend to forget it ever existed. Apart from Taemin, he would really forget it existed ;)
actually...none of the members from any group remembers their lore...😅🤣😂
@@aniumar5964 True :)
More Shinee please! Live performances are sooo good!
Which is why he is fluent in English and is so into western culture.)
I heard Minho say once that he dyed his hair blond for this comeback because his mom told him he should do it.
To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret, you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis."
I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. like a superhero who is summoning all their powers.
(However, I'm not yet sure whether the can magically pops into his hand in "Atlantis" because it is coming from its original location in "Hate That ..." or if it appears in "Hate That ..." because Key brought it from "Atlantis." )
Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs, they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason.
You should check out the behind the scenes MV shoot for "Atlantis",
th-cam.com/video/jn6qkSNro9A/w-d-xo.html, to really see how detailed everything in the MV was.
I can't wait for you to react to their live performances! I love your reactions ❤️
You can watch the live version of Ring ding dong + Lucifer remix! The vocals are INSANE!! Love your videos btw❤
Please react to Jonghyun's solo.. Like crazy, Y si fuera ella, Deja boo etc.. You won't disappointed
godd sherlock is still one of my fav shinee songs. Back in 2013/14 when i started listening to kpop it was my jam lmao
And regarding mv don't forget to check: view, everybody, good evening and dream girl. They're awesome!
30:13 Its Onew
4:13 FROM LEFT TO RIGHT :
ONEW (Leader), TAEMIN (Maknae), JONGHYUN (REST IN PEACE), MINHO and KEY.
Facts: Ring ding dong was a song forbidden in the school of S.Korea because the students can't concentrate on their exam....😅😅😅
- There are lots of older kpop songs with light/bright concepts. From Shinee: Love like oxygen, Juliette, Hello
- I'd recommend checking out RDD live so you can hear it without all the autotune.
1) It is amazing how they all have solo careers that sound totally different
2) I think it will drive home the qualities of each member (and make it easier to remember who's who😉)
Plus Onew singing Rainy Blue or Taemins Advice or Keys Killer etc. are just so damn good and listening to them is just a blast 😁😁
Glad you're having fun and finding cool music with Shinee 💕
Rainy Blue is not an actual Onew's song so maybe something like Circle is better
@@sleeplessnight03 That's fair. I just love that performance and legit forgot for a second that it's a cover due to how personal the performance is for him. Yeah Circle might be better ☺
Up
React to SHINee everybody, the choreo is so powerful and iconic
❤Look forward to your SHINee’s journey
Its O New or On You, Oh New, so good you are digging into SHINee. Wait until you get into their live stuff. They are phenomenal. I recommend you check out Juice mv, and live performances like Excuse Me Miss, Odd Eye, Selene 6.23
1 of 1 is all 80s 90s vibes that even their album was released on casette.
Thanks for the reaction
I would recommend checking out "Hello", "Everybody", "View", and "Married to the Music"... These SHINee MV songs are more vibey with incredible vocals, and probably kinda less experimental than Ring Ding Dong :)
Also, please be aware that SHINee is a group in which all 5 members are also amazing soloists with their own amazing albums, each of a different flavour!
U should react to the live performance of ring ding dong +lucifer. It hits hard. Make me shawols forever
OOOOOOOOMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! SHINEEEE
Dude ring ding dong was literally banned from schools during testing season because it was so catchy that students couldn’t concentrate while studying bc it was stuck in their heads.
thats gotta be such a huge flex lol
You should definitely check out their live performances. Ring ding dong live version better for sure
The Sherlock MV featured ex-member of Girl's Generation Jessica Jung as the mystery girl.
You should react to Shinee MMA 2023, the same NCT dream was in.
you should watch Onew solos too theyre amazing
Onew is the romanized spelling of 온유 so it is pronounced on-yu. You can verify this with a simple Korean translator. That is why Onew plays with "odd eye" lyrics when he is singing "My eyes on you".
excited for more
Well if you're looking for a Michael Jackson vibe, SHINee got it for you.
U should check out their live performance..and juice dance performance
you HAVE to watch some of cheese sticks videos of shinee speaking english
Yes PLEASE!!! 😂😂 And Taemin’s English is one of the cutest things I’ve heard
also the shinee career review they did on the odg channel :)
0:26 Oh New
(Like oh it’s new😂)
Onew
Спасибо большое за реакцию на SHINee , они настолько хороши во всём, что просто супер ! Please, react to some more of their songs :
Get the treasure
Tell me what to do
Married to the music
Winter wonderland
From now on
🧡
Please check their live performances - all of them are super GREAT ! thank you 💎
Ring Ding Dong e Sherlock são duas músicas icônicas do kpop! Veja Shinee Everybody!
Watch Girls Generation, they were in the same generation as Shinee and they have great voices and I recommend watching them (Boy-Mr. Mr. Run Devil Run-I got A boy. They have many great songs. ❤
WAITING FOR TAEMIN SOLO REACTIONS PLEASEE
Yes! i second this!!!
I love that youre going on an SM rabbit hole. Hope to see red velvet next🤭
they have been recommended a few times, maybe soon!
The hairstyles and the Autotune is killing me Lmao😂😂😂
Sherlock é tão perfeita
Please check taemin's and key's solos you won't regret it ❤ also I'm a big NCT fan and SHINee too so if you check more NCT songs too
Poor Onew never gets a shoutout on the solo stuff 😋No I get it Taemin & Keys solo stuff is incredibly to react to cause of the type of music they make and Onews 'soulful contemplative balad music'... what's a reactor suposed to do? Sit there, be mesmerized and not say anything? That's not good content 😅
Yet I dare anyone to listen to Onew singing 'Rainy Blue' in the Tokyo Dome and not fall in love with his music a little bit (especially knowing the context of the performance) 😉🤗
Just call him : O+New, with english spelling
the robotic one is Onew ❤❤❤ He is the leader
U must listen to View, tell me what to do, I want you, good evening, Dream girl, Hello, everybody too
I think u must listen to SM Town artist - Dear My Family and Hope
Of course we miss seeing them together.
dude you gotta react to Taemins solo work I BEGGG
Copying MJ was one of Jonghyun's talents, you're right. :) Michael Jackson's choreographer also did the choreography for Sherlock (Clue + Note).
Please make a reaction to the K-pop solo artist icon - Taemin
🙏🏻❤Taemin- Advice, Guilty, Rizzness, Drip Drop, Press your number, Criminal, Want, Idea , Famous, Heaven (concert version) Sexuality, Black Rose performance. You will be surprised and delighted ❤I promise 😊
please react to juice by them
Onew is the voice you like in Deep mv. He's on break...something very wrong...but it looks like he's no longer skeletal and working on emotional distress issues...a bit unclear...hoping he will return soon. So they appear as 3 members for past year .
he's much better now, and we don't really know what kind of problems he had. the members said recently on a concert that he'll return soon
Wait until you get to their live performances. They are not called CDNee for nothing.
You need check the shinee funny moments they are very funny idols and they don’t have idol image ajjaja
😮
if you want to do some solos you should check out advice, criminal, idea, move & guilty by taemin (really recommend dance practices for those too), bad love, gasoline, killer & good & great (plus the b-side coolas) by key and dice & circle by onew (i don't actually know minho or jonghyun's solo stuff too well but minho had a mini album a couple years ago called chase, to complete the members' solo album series ace, base, face, voice & chase)
Watch a video about the group members)))
I'm waiting for your reaction to the seventeen!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your reactions very much and I will be glad to have a reaction to svt ❤
Be aware that if you are really delving into SHINee...by now you should be aware that one member (J) took his life about 6 years ago...
