Not true. Taylor had a hyperbaric program that used seasoned, pv certified welders. Over a one year period only one welder made it to the north sea, was blown down in sat, and got into the bell. As soon as the diver opened the hatch and the welder stared at the moon pool he said f no. From then on, Taylor trained its divers under Blackie's tutelage and it became a successful program.
Not always as easy as it looks.. I used to train 50 divers a year in both topside and under water welding, and did it for 9-10 years. There are some training vids on my page, mostly from 30 years ago, but nothing has changed much in the basics. Nice clear video Jonathan, and your welds look pretty good..

I know even back then the guys doing habitat saturation welds were making a bloody fortune. But their a rare breed, and earned every penny of it.
Using hand tools underwater actually isn't a whole lot more difficult. As part of my basic commercial scuba course, we built birdhouses underwater using hand tools. Only difficult part about hammering the nails was keeping the wood from floating away while you tried to nail it together, lol.
Ive heard some crazy shittt... like this guy was welding in a huge nuclear power plant somewere offshore and he would dive deep through some huge vents and then down some turbines and into some tunnels and then a creepy as shit underworld of concrete tunnels and pits and "nope" type of shit... name's Zeus yes it is the oxydizer in such a reaction, but you still need a puncture in the tank for anything to happen and you need a flamable thing that's coming in contact with the gas (which has to be at quite a high temperature) to make any sort of reaction happen and since you only carry oxy and argon down there, there's nothing to worry about. ;)
I remember underwater welding in dive school still. When I was top side tender I recall the thick rust colored cloud of smoke that just hovered on the surface of the pond while the divers welded. Kinda cool yet disgusting all at the same time. But the welding part was pretty cool with all those tiny hydrogen bubbles making little explosions while you weld. Fun times.

So often Filipinos go abroad because abroad offers more jobs. The skills I gained: 👉Computer literacy 👉Electronics 👉Welder (SMAW)

Linglingjr not true. I know a few graduates personally from SBCC that went immediately into underwater welding jobs. It's one of the few schools around that offer such specialized training. Santa Barbara is known as one of the birthplaces of commercial diving. It's how we got those oil rigs out in the channel. Do your research before opening your mouth.
theres no way he was making 3500 in 6 mins, he wasnt making 500 an hour the top 90% only make around 150 to 200 an hour if lucky the bottom percent only make around 30 an hour

Yep, camera good, audio excellent, but the most impressive thing here are his buoyancy skills. most people can't keep that much control on their feet, let alone at whatever depth this is going on. I'd swab him for gills given his respiration rate. RESPECT!!!!!
This is impressive for obvious reasons. But as a welder what impresses me the most is the body moment while treading water. This is comparable to trying to weld and walk at the same time.
I start training for standard welding in two weeks. Once I have that down I'm making it my goal to pursue hyperbaric welding. I love working with welding in general, used to scuba dive regularly throughout highschool

This shit is crazy. First guy to volunteer for under water welding had some big ass balls.
I start training for standard welding in two weeks. Once I have that down I'm making it my goal to pursue hyperbaric welding. I love working with welding in general, used to scuba dive regularly throughout highschool
