Humanity knew how to make music machines long before the digital age of PLC's. They even invented MIDI without knowing it ould one day be a worldwide music standard to this day. God bless the brave and courageous souls who have been working relentlessly hard for our common pleasure!
Absolutely astonishing work, I felt moved seeing such a wonderful and intricate instrument come to life like that. You're a truly talented craftsman, hats off to you!
That's a pretty common way to make an Orchestrion to make all the instruments play the exact same notes as the piano, so not a worry. It's the Orchestrions which require more holes than the Pianola 88 player which use separate mechanisms for some of the melodic instruments.
So a really important thing you need convert a player to an orchestrion is that spool box. Unless you're in the business like our host, being lucky is key, right?
Hi Jim. I've wanted an orchestrion O-roll machine (not even as sophisticated as this) all my life. At 76, I found the Mechanical Music Man angel of my dreams. With five solo instruments! I'm stoked to the bone. I only need one machine. I've had player pianos and a home brew nickleodeon for about 4 decades. I never IMAGINED anything close to the quality and sophistication of Bruce's work. It all started out right here on utube with his Test O-Roll orchestrion. Bruce has stayed in contact throughout the entire design, manufacturing & construction. The emails and pictures could fill a book. I can't say enough of how happy he has made me. What a GEM! I plan to play it & show it off as long as I live. I've got some nice 4-panel upper doors and lower 3-panel leaded German beveled stained glass. Maybe Bruce can post it on UTube after it's installed. Next week . . no sleep for the wicked - just music. :)

I think that's the best sounding home brew O machine I've heard, good job!
That was a great roll man, and an even better new instrument! You are a master of this craft.
Congratulations, that's an amazing piece of work! Can't wait to see what's next!
Splendid!! I m sure even Glen Miller would've thought so too!😄Moving it must be difficult unless it comes apart!!🤔
cool!! Needs to be put in a display for everyone to see. A marvel
yeah a customer can press a button and it plays.
Awesome…
That is truly awesome.
You, sir, are a genius!
To hear the 'O-roll orchestrion skip to 8:38 . To hear Spike Jones' arrangement of 'Take The A Train' skip to 8:38
I admire your work, it's just GREAT !!!
Fantastic, love it.
Fantástico
Well done!
How can I make one of these?

This Orchestrion sounds great. Do you have more videos of it?
any chance you could do a video of just this roll? absolutely lovely roll! and instrument!
It is one of my favorite rolls. The arrangements and percussion are outstanding.
This machine is sick!

Is it being sent to Sugar Hill in Harlem?
If it's being sent to Harlem it'll definitely play the Harlem shake
Einfach unglaublich...verlorenes Wissen !
Wow, this is your magnum opus. How many hours of labor did you put into this? I can't imagine. I hope the owner appreciates your hard work.
