    I was planning on organizing my crochet projects and yarn this video made me excited to do so

    Love some good organization! I recently overhauled my yarn organization so everything is mostly in one room in my home. I finally realized how much yarn I have. Destashing is up next when I find some time and energy.

      It's so satisfying (albeit a bit overwhelming haha) to have it all together. When you destash, do you mostly give away/get rid of excess yarn, or do you try to come up with ways to use it all? I'm trying to come up with projects to use up my yarn, but it also means I have even more wips now 😆

      @@CraftersAutonomous I think both. I bought some yarn early on. It's bulky colourchanging acrylic yarn and that is definitely not my favourite type of yarn. I was still trying to figure out what I liked and all. I think I'll have a good bit to sell/give away. For the rest of my yarn I mostly have projects in mind. It's just waiting for the time and energy to get to them 😅

      Very true about it being hard to keep the organization! We shall see how well I do at *staying* organized 😆 Glad I was able to be an inspiration, and thank you for watching!

    16:55 I have a yarn winder. Answer: yes. You can wind basically any weight onto there, except maybe super fine lace weight. Only thing I'd say to avoid is super large balls of yarn. There is a limit to how much can fit onto the winder without it catching and getting into a bit of a mess. But it needs probably about 300g min before it hits that problem. It may be an issue with chunkier yarns, but not really with finer yarns. Most "crochet" yarn is just slightly thinner then fingering weight, and people literally wind up fingering weight religiously. So I think you'll be fine.
    19:45 I knit throwing style (ie the "other one" lol). I can't contend with continental either, and continental is not traditional to my area and I learned from my mum, who learned from her mum, who learned from her mum etc... I wouldn't listen to the internet claiming one is better then the other, they're both equally valid. You should do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you prefer throwing, do it :)

    You can ball up cotton thread on the ball winder. I just tried on my knitpicks. I used a half used cotton thread ball and it came out under half the size. Not too sure how a unused one would turn out.

      Thanks for testing that out for me! I think today's the day I'm gonna finally order myself a yarn winder... 🤞

      @@CraftersAutonomous Just an FYI too, you don't need an expensive one, but some of the plastic ones are a bit flimsey and rubbish. I'd go for a wood one since they're more solid and a bit nicer to work with. They're still super cheap though.

    OMGoodness absolutely Devine yarns, like a candy store!!! Great job, after my move come organize me ok? I use scraps to make random acts of kindness to leave for people to find everywhere I go.😂🐞✌️🕉️🧶

      It really is like a kid in a candy store! I'm so excited to find ways to use up my yarn now that I can see exactly what I've got. Haha, if only I could come organize for you! I could definitely see myself in another life having a business where I organize things for other people. It's so fun to go through everything and then see the finished organized results (and I think it's easier to organize other people's things because I'm not as attached to everything haha). That's such a fun way to use up leftover bits of yarn! I bet you've brightened many people's day through that. 😄

      Look up The crafty organizer. That's who you remind me of. She does a lot of it on TH-cam you could expand your business or do a new one. Thank you for all your sweet comments 🐞✌️🕉️

    I have hundreds of crochet thread. I've used a yarn winder for some which CAN condense, but I prefer to wind balls because they take up less room.

    Do you have a tutorial for those crochet scrap bags you were putting you're projects on? They're so cute

      Here's the pattern I used for two of the bags shown in this video - th-cam.com/video/ZWCNSFvOBxw/w-d-xo.html They're super fun to make, and each one turns out unique. Hope you enjoy!

    I guess I’m weird, if I have small balls of yarn that you can’t really get a lot of rows on, I just toss them or give to the cats to play with.

    • @CraftersAutonomous
      @CraftersAutonomous  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing weird about it! It's good to be able to declutter. What works for one person might not work for another, and that's okay. 😀

    • @Stettafire
      @Stettafire ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like using up every tiny little scrap :) The super small scraps I can't get a full row from get carded into stuffing. I knit though, and in my experience knitting uses less yarn then crochet overall.
