I’m not sure why “no doubt” is so underrated. Perhaps because Hartman was only behind the scenes or maybe there was a problem with promotion back in the day. It’s one of Petra’s best albums in my opinion and could have easily crossed over to secular radio stations.
John, I don't know if you'll see this. I wanted to tell you that my mom introduced me to Petra, when I was a child in the 80's. I didn't realize how powerful and special your songs were back then. These songs are gems. They bring encouragement. And, when God feels distant, I keep coming back to your songs for encouragement. Thanks for following God's path.

Probably one of the best 90s songs done by an 80s band. Definitely up there with some of the current songs done by 90s bands such as Shine by Newsboys, Big House by Audio Adrenaline, Jesus Freak by DC Talk or Wonder Why by PFR.
I am so thankful that we can go to God in prayer without having to take all of the various sacrafices that they had to do back in the Old Testment days.

Met the band on this tour in Tulsa. Schlitt, Cates, and Weaver were the real deal. It was obvious from the first moment that Cooper and Lichens were not. Fortunately, Schlitt and Hartman took care of that very quickly.

You know, I love Petra, but I have to admit, No Doubt was not one of my favorite of their albums. HOWEVER, this particular song is perhaps one of the best C.C.M. songs ever written. What brings me back to it over, and over, through the years is not so much the music, but the incredible Biblical truth packed into the lyrics. There are not very many C.C.M. songs that even broach the subject matter encapsulated here. The words are epic theology. I stand and applaude. Amazing work and such a blessing.
What a shocker it must have been to no longer have Bob Hartman or John Lawry on stage. The replacements were gone within two years and Ronny was right behind them, soon enough we had a whole new group of replacements and yet they didn't stick around either. BUT on a good note we did get Greg Bailey in 2002, and here we are 21 years later and Greg is STILL HERE!

Funny story about this day... I was at this taping when we 1st moved to Nashville in 1995. It was sunny when we went in. I left the sunroof open. So we came out and the seats were puddled with water. Ha ha! And guess what? The sun was out when we went out. Sneaky!

Bob Hartman wrote all these songs you can tell the guitar ideas for these songs are his even when he wasn't with them for 2 years.
He recorded the guitar in the studio for them during those years.
Def Hartman on this track. Lichens did a few tracks but this is signature Bob Hartman.
