Nice build! Honestly you guys are probably my favourite fishing channel mostly because you guys are from my city but also because your fishing videos are great! Stay safe guys
Fun customized project! I was thinking about doing something similar for my 12 foot yak. One thing I will try to do is figure out how to design so 4 or more cross members support the yak. Distribute the load a little more because it is a heavier yak. I like this though, gets the brain gears moving.
would love to join you guys for fishing but dont have a kayak yet! But if guys ever come up to Edmonton area hit me up! Keep the awesome videos coming!
That is a well thought out design. Nice easy access to the kayaks during the summer. Do you plan to keep them there during the winter? If so, I think you may need to have a temporary full front cover over it.....Take care, Bluefin.
Thanks for the comment. It is 5 foot 10 inches high at the front, 11 feet 8 inches long and 22 inches wide. I would have made is 24 inches, but we built it to fit in the space.
@@AnglingSpiders Thank you. This is very awesome. I'm still a beginner with tools and really like the simplicity of this. I have some more questions... What is the height for the back? Is that a 45 degree angle cut? What is the distance between the top and bottom cross beams? For the roof, did you use plywood or 1×6's also to create the platform before you added the shingles? Thank you very much for inspiring me to make mine. Can't wait to get started. 🙂
Sorry we didn't get back to you. The only video we have is this one, but if you have questions let us know and we would be happy to let you know how we made it.
Any more details you can provide on the roof? The wood construction underneath, how the shingles are secured, and the drip protection strip? Great design, hope to make one myself to protect kayaks from the inclement British weather!
@@adambradley7882 Sorry for the delay. The roof was narrow enough that we built it from 1x6 pine attached at the front and back to a 2x6 frame. The shingles were attached using standard 1 inch roofing nails. The tin drip edge is also attached using roofing nails under the last row of shingles. Hope that helps.
Looks great! Been wanting to build one myself for a while now. Any idea roughly how much in CAD the materials cost? And did you buy from a lumber yard or a home improvement store? Thanks!
@@AnglingSpiders Oh wow! I don't think lumber at CT is a thing here in the Lower Mainland, so i'll check out some local businesses. Yeah the prices are pretty daft. Thank you for your help! Keep up the good work!
What a nice job. Nice wood skills. See my build at "Karin and Larry at Home". It is completely enclosed as I wanted to keep my fishing kayak completely out of the weather. Larry

Thanks for this, really appreciate the comment. All the best!
Nice , always better to have easy access. Let the fishing begin!
Can't wait, hopefully the long weekend weather cooperates. Always great to hear from you Dan!
Nice project and most of all the best way to bond with your son.
Thanks very much, and I agree!
Excellent work guys - just stumbled across this now, given me inspiration to make my own now.
Thanks, hope it works out well for you.
Great set up. Well done guys. Going to have to copy the idea now.
Thanks, it has been working great so far!
Good to see another Calgary based youtuber growing keep up the good work
You bet, hometown proud! Thanks for the comment.
This is an awesome build guys!!! Looks great 👍
Thanks a bunch! Still working great, pretty happy with it given that we didn't have any plans.
looks pretty slick good job guys
Thanks, appreciate the comment as always.

Hopefully it helps a little with the planning. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks, working great so far!
Good work guys, very inspiring!
Thanks, appreciate the comment!
Very nice 👍 Gives me ideas for similar projects 👍
Thanks and good luck
Great job guys.
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Brilliant!
Thank you
get some topside marine paint in white...
paint the wood to make it blend in with your house and also will make the wood last alot longer
We have some other wood around our house painted a different colour, so we may go with that.

Thanks very much. Appreciate the comment. We aren't up there often, but you never know where our adventures will take us.

Thanks for the response. Yes, we are going to buy a couple of kayak covers from Ali Express. I will review them once they arrive.
Need some pool noddles .
I have foam pads in there - I put them in the next day
Great video, what were the dimensions of the finished project?

Do you have a video on how you did the roof on it?

It's weird ... I just built another kayak rack ... now I get all these kayak storage video suggestions. I'm being spied on somehow. 🤔
Yep, my phone does the same thing

We bought everything at Canadian Tire. At the time is was relatively affordable, but with lumber prices at the moment, it would be pretty expensive.

@@Mchampion4 Sorry Matt, I must have had CT on the brain. I meant Home Depot. Apologies.
@@AnglingSpiders Oh no problem! Extortionate prices may put me off anyway! Haha.
i like what you built but i could barely hear you-had to use CC
Strange, I went back and watched it and had no problems.
I adjusted the settings on my computer and lo and behold!! No problem with the volume. Thanks!
@@Mitchell0458 Good to hear
But it only holds 2 .. if you had built it the width of the kayaks . Then you could have put them all on a 45 degree angle toe up … you can get 5-6
I only have two
