It is great to see how life really is....needing each other every once in a while to get something done. Sometimes, for whatever reason “we do not think” but appreciate the helping hand. You gals are so much fun to watch. Those locks appear to be a LOT of work! Great for exercise though. I am launching big time into crafting projects to prepare for a big benefit Boutique to rais lots of money for a charity dear to my heart. So, I definitely need to find Annamarie’s art classes and see what I can learn from her. I keep watching vlogs over and over, as sometimes I am busy cooking or gardening, or even fall asleep, and have to watch again. I am longing for some new vlogs, too. It is just fun to see other people’s daily lives. We all have one....”real life” and it is good to know we all have our joys and our frustrations. Enjoy getting to know you ladies!
Can I just say, with me not being a native of the UK, I really appreciate the maps you guys put on screen when describing your route. Makes it a lot easier to imagine. 👍👍👍
I truly love watching you two ladies as you adventure the canals and locks. I also love how your music is not overpowering at ten times the volume of your voices when you are not speaking. It is a problem that some TH-cam channels have and makes their videos hard to watch because I constantly have to raise and lower the volume settings. You have done a marvelous job of editing and sound control. I have cats and a dog and the dog is a protector of the cats. I don't trust people who don't like animals. You ladies are a joy to look forward to each week.
Thank you so much for my lovely painting of Katie and thanks also to the gorgeous Alice for purrr-fectly assisting. What a great partnership you make! Take care as your exciting and informative canal adventures continue. Jayne Anne xx
I loved how excited Annamarie was about the tea room on a railway station “I might dress 1920s” just brilliant! Fantastic vlog. It’s a lovely bit of escape from real life. thank you x
What a beautiful trip south, despite the "rush hour traffic." Looked like great weather for narrowboating. Annamarie, thank you for the wonderful painting of the Pontcysylite. It came through the US mail perfectly.
You may already know by now but the Severn Valley railway runs from Bridgenorth to Kiddy and back , if you like tea rooms on stations I bet your favourite film is Brief Encounter . Take care ladies
The expresions on Alice and Munchie faces when the collars came off was priceless! Lovely cruise, I really enjoyed the banter between you two. Stay safe, and warm, give the cats a cuddle!
Great video, the brown dog on the roof of the boat is a larger version of my eldest dog but he would never get on the roof, he doesn’t even like jumping on and off the boat if there’s a tiny gap, he seems to have an understanding of danger. The younger two would happily jump onto your boat roof because the youngest is very naughty and acts on impulse. If he has the urge to do something off he goes with the middle one just following him on his adventure! I love the cat painting. Thanks for sharing.
It might be easier to drop the paddles when you open the gate. We travelled down the Staffs and Worcester earlier this year and your lovely videos have brought back lots of happy memories of this beautiful canal. Thank you! What a beautiful painting.
Those lock paddles did look awkward, but if you want to see really bad paddles check out photos of lock 12 in Cheshire Connecticut, this is what happens when people that have never seen an actual working lock try to reproduce one. On the up side the cill is outside of the lock.
Another great vlog! The southern Staffs & Worcestershire is generally fairly quiet, it might be that all the boats are coming north because the river Severn is closed due to high water levels? Funny thing is, we went north from Austcliffe (just north of Cookley), on Tuesday, and barely saw another boat?! Incidentally, the landslide with the signs on happened in the spring (we got trapped by it for a week!). It was caused by a burst water main that runs along the side of the road above the canal. Happy cruising!
It may just be me - being a steam engine enthusiast, (but not a 'train spotter') - but the very first thing one thinks of at the mention of Kidderminster is; The Severn Valley Railway. One of the premier preserved railways in Britain. I mean, there are loads of preserved railways, many of them with steam locos, but there aren't so many railways with multi mile routes; main line connection, almost year round timetables, large locomotive rosters and quality engineering in all departments. The SVR is certainly one of them. One other thing; about 'communications'. In the past, communications on the cut was largely by waving arms, inscrutable hand signals and indecipherable shouted messages. With the mobile phone, communications with one's 'lockie' is often possible over several miles. However, have you ever considered short range 'walkie-talkies'? We have access to multiple pairs and we always use them when hire boating. One for the 'skipper', one for the galley (when 'manned') and one for the lock party and even one each for the lock party. They are brilliant and, we notice, becoming more common, being able to work over about 2km. I can't speak for two crew boats and it obviously doesn't apply to single handers, but how often does it happen that someone is in the galley and the 'skipper' is on the back and just needs a waterproof or a cup of tea? Mobile phone use is a bit excessive, but with a walkie-talkie just one call will do. On locks, your lockie or lockies can be way out of sight, getting information from an oncoming boat which they can pass on instantly. I will concede that it means the skipper has to have the radio where they can hear it over the noise of the engine, but the convenience of being able to get info about the upcoming lock or even the one after that, is very useful. Very nice vlog girls, as usual.
Good morn ladies. at the 5.25 mark to about 5.36 mark to can see the tarp behind you moving to signify the ground is falling into the canal, as you were talking about it. Perhaps your wake undermined the wall of dirt. at the base making the dirt to fall into the canal Ralph
I lived in Kidderminster in the early 1970s and taught English & History at a school in the town. A decade later my wife and I cruised with our kids through Kidderminster on the Staffs & Worcs and I managed to fall in the canal in the town centre. It was a "one foot on the boat and the other foot on the towpath" job. The children were convinced I'd get Weil's Disease. Happy to say that I didn't.
Have you considered creating a playlist that includes all your videos in order in addition to the smaller playlists you already have? I leave your videos on in a small window while I'm at work (as opposed to listening to music) and I would love to be able to watch them all in order without having to select multiple playlists or having TH-cam show me a random video.
THIS is why I love your vlogs. Besides painting lesson thingies, maybe you guys could do a course on 'How to produce a homely, relaxed unacted, natural' vlog on puddling along the locks of G.B. Keep going
Hi both nice vlog weather was nice could be everyone is leaving to get to the winter mornings or taking hire boats back seemed busy look forward to seeing your vlog hope you can get trains etc take care 😀😀👍👍
Ha, that's my local Sainsbury's - seems like it's not just me either, lots of locals in the comments. Hi Kidderminster canal fans! I've done that stretch on a hire boat a couple of times and you need to concentrate in the narrow and twisty bit. And Kidderminster isn't all bad - the countryside around is lovely, hope you had a chance to see it from the steam train (I'm kinda guessing you did otherwise you wouldn't have left that bit in the edit???). Happy travels and thanks for the vlogs.
Awesome, go girls love watching you and the cat's. really enjoying the trip with you. won't change any time soon.Awesome journey I do wish my wife would slow down a bit we look after our town cat's. A bit of work with getting them fixed and realised they do keep the .town rodent free. Cats are awesome dog's are companions. We lost our girl due to diabetes in January this year still miss my caregiver, your guy's and girl's are beautiful especially what they have to put up with. Take care and look after yourself and your family
Aww! Poor kits! :-( Lovely to see you girls looking so happy though! And I love steam engines too! And on the subject of being watched, as a caravanner from long before you were born, I get immense satisfaction from reversing my 'van onto the peg in two hits or less, but if someone's watching, I feel like a novice! I was at a caravan site in Cumbria, arriving after darkness fell, and got it right second attempt, in the dark, blindside, ie reversing round to my left! Nobody saw a thing! But the camp commandant, er I mean warden, rushed up on his bike and congratulated me! He's seen people take more shunts in a straight line during the day than I took! I was very pleased with myself, although I know it'll never happen again! :-O
Wow what a busy day! Someone was giving away free beer or something! And you gals were off in the opposite direction lol. Great vid as always. It looked like you needed nerves of steel to drive around those narrow corners 😰 Oh and the commissioned painting looked beautiful.
That 'landslide' near Wolverley has been there since 1st March so no one seems in a rush to resolve it.... Severn Trent Water's leaking pipe caused the road above to wash away into the canal.... so I imagine its for them to sort it..... hmmm!

Wonderful video! My only complaint...it wasn't long enough! I find your videos so relaxing and after my hard work today I needed me so cruising with my 2 favorite youngsters! Well you are compared to me! 😉🐈💋💞🐈
Hi Girls hope you are both ok? You said that everyone is leaving where you are both going? I wonder why? Can't have anything to do with you just arriving lol only joking Your doing everything right as you always do keep up the lovely vlogs so interesting and happy as you both are. Many thanks best wishes, John x
I love your videos and artwork. My fiance loves the paintings of the pixel ducks and 'splashing about ducks'. We are saving so we can get them framed. Now that I know you do commissions I have another thing to save for. Do you paint dogs? :)
I'm not sure if they do understand, but as a general observation they do wait for the collar in the morning and go to sleep once it is removed in the evening.
It's when we get off the boat and literally go 'through the hedge' to explore. it is usually released as an extra vlog during the week- you can check out our playlist for through the hedge on our youtube homepage.
Great show girls !! Watch it all the time, nice and mellow not like the junk on the tele. Great music used in the pontcisette ( you can't say it , i can't spell it !!!! ) crossing !!!
Greetings from Northern California (Wheatland) I'm just discovering narrow boat travel on youtube and am I'm finding this fascinating!! great video , poor puddies , you could see they really wanted to get out lol , ive noticed that you put chain on your ropes , is that because of people unduing your ropes , & have you ever had that happen to you ? .
Yes, they always use the litter tray, and we clean it like you would in a house. Bag up the waste- if you see a doggy waste bin you can usually dispose of it there.
Obviously when everyone heard you coming, they all thought "The Queen's of the Canal are coming. We must be respectful and make room for them by running away.... Or boating away....". That's my theory anyway. Do Munchy and Alice bow to you every morning to show respect? 😆 Lovely video as always, thank you.
I figured out why Anna Marie doesn't have a job. There are no schools that teach Bogan in England. (is Bogan capitalized?) PS someone needs to some time lapse painting. I would suggest Kat, but she's busy skipping the boat ;)
Hmm, laminated landslide posters ... maybe if they laminated the land it wouldn't slide? Tiny posters for a tiny slide, I wonder if as a matter of policy the landslide posters are scaled to the relevant slide? Hey, idea, what would the story be in a novel titled The Laminated Land? And what would be the hit single from The Laminated Band, the top band in the land?
@@TheNarrowboatExperience Well, I've not succeeded at being rich, famous, successful, published, brilliant, or heroic, but life does allow occasional success at being at least halfway humorous/humourous. _(And now it appears there is a 'what' needing to be added in, "Hey, idea, would be ..." at first ''narrow boat'' seemed fun, i dont want to do it........... but after watching for a while dont know why anyone wants to do it.. ..............................tiny home in the wood ,,,,,,way to go.....
@@TheNarrowboatExperience amen ,enjoy. fun to watch ......good you dont ''push'' more and more people doing it.....soon you will cruise the canals by walking over ''narrow boat , ''roof tops ...ha ha
As someone who lived in Kidderminster for 6 years, I can understand why everyone is leaving ;-)

It never matters if I'm having a bad day after watching you two ladies I'm always cheered up.
Always smiling, thanks for brightening my day !
Munchy's expression when the collar is taken off is priceless.
OMG isn't it. He's such an overactor
Can I just say, with me not being a native of the UK, I really appreciate the maps you guys put on screen when describing your route. Makes it a lot easier to imagine. 👍👍👍

Mandy Smith agreed🥰
Thanks Mandy. I went with practical clothes in the end but I did have the best intentions. lol
What a beautiful trip south, despite the "rush hour traffic." Looked like great weather for narrowboating. Annamarie, thank you for the wonderful painting of the Pontcysylite. It came through the US mail perfectly.
So glad it arrived safely. x
"...a desperate rush to get to Kidderminster". Now there's an expression you don't often hear!
lols
Nice to see The lock Pub, it was my Grandad 's local for a while, Suzi and I were there in June, thank you for the vid
Love the journey...thanks for the invite to join. 👋🏽 from San Francisco

Yes, excellent
Truly beautiful artwork. I can't feel too sorry for the kitties. They live on a narrowboat!
Exactly. And, we took them out a bit later anyway.

Unless an emergency we don't drop paddles.
Sorry, bad choice of words. I did of course mean close the paddles.
Nice little cruise ladies. I do know Kidderminster area. 👍👍😎
With joy starting our morning watching your calm and delightful Vlogs thank you so much for your effort from Tom & Gaya in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Absolutely fabulous vlog. Thank you for spending the time to do this for us 👍👍

Very kind (and true) thanks. x
Loved this video! Glad there were no landslides that day! Was so much fun bumping in to you both in Sainsbury’s too 💕
Congrats on your new boat.
Thanks so much! We’re calling her Tarka Tales and should be picking her up in 2 weeks - we are unbelievably excited 😁
Those paddles where you have to stand on the gate are so you will drop your windlass into the lock and have to buy a new one. Thanks for the trip. 👍
Have a look in the little stable cut into the cliff next to Debdale lock if you haven't already gone past it
another joy to view. thank you
Beautiful clever painting.
Thank you

We really enjoyed Kidderminster
Lovely cruise, perhaps the thought of being amongst boating royalty scared all those boaters out of Kidderminster?
Too funny
Always a great video can't beat it!
Good one lovely ladies 😋
The Blue Rope Fan Club was highly pleased with today's video!!
Now a through the Hedge with a steam train, that would be .....perfection. 😎
Kath seems to be warming to her role as presenter.
Hmmmmmm - canal time or canal rage? You two seem relaxed and untroubled. Hugs to kitties. Take care.
John, Ontario, Canada.
Awesome, go girls love watching you and the cat's. really enjoying the trip with you. won't change any time soon.Awesome journey I do wish my wife would slow down a bit we look after our town cat's. Aww! Poor kits! :-(
Lovely to see you girls looking so happy though! And I love steam engines too!
And on the subject of being watched, as a caravanner from long before you were born, I get immense satisfaction from reversing my 'van onto the peg in two hits or less, but if someone's watching, I feel like a novice!

SO LIKE CAR , COACH , LORRY AND VAN TRAFFIC JAMS ON ROADS, I SEE THAT YOU GET BOAT TRAFFIC JAMS ON THE CANAL SYSTEM !!!!!!
Wow what a busy day! Someone was giving away free beer or something! And you gals were off in the opposite direction lol. Great vid as always. It looked like you needed nerves of steel to drive around those narrow corners 😰 Oh and the commissioned painting looked beautiful.
thanks, the new owner of the painting loved it.
That 'landslide' near Wolverley has been there since 1st March so no one seems in a rush to resolve it.... Severn Trent Water's leaking pipe caused the road above to wash away into the canal.... so I imagine its for them to sort it..... hmmm!
love your vidoes thank you as i live in quebec canada dont understand all those locks and how they works
That is a great part of the network with the canalside bare rock and cave houses. Even if it was busy. Your back sounded at a bit creaky opening the paddles at 7.00, maybe more oil is needed in the diet ;) Awesome T-Shirt.
lol
Leaky lock or not, at least you didn't loose your paddle key overboard as Jono did, aluminium so no magnet recovery!
Hiya. I mention leaking locks in "Inktober" and suddenly there's a leaky lock in "TNE"". Spooky! I loved this vlog, you just sit back and get lost in it with no thought of time. And both cats at the end - wonderful. Hope to see you in period costume on a platform soon, between the station Tea Rooms and the train. All the best to you.
Love the artwork...great model!! Yes indeed they need to fix that leak!! Thanks for bringing us on your journey!!
Nothing wrong with Kidderminster. I was born there!!!
I really liked it there, you had everything you needed.
The trips are are so entertaining. You have created your own version of Camelot. God blless
Hello from Michigan!!
Great stuff girls. Bit of an absence of cake on this one (Forgot to mention Kaths' bake on the last one. Looked cake-tastic)
You both seem really chilled and chipper, how lovely. Even if you are cruel to those poor cats 😉
That's a beautiful painting.
Alice says not letting her go outside is cat abuse and she's reporting you to PETA. And Munchie says the correct pronunciation is Kittyminster. :-)
Kittyminster- how funny- sorry to say that's too witty for Munchy.
Beautiful !!
ones again girls you have entertained me with another great vlog
You know I'll be looking for what might appear about the railway :)
Cool... and yes please on the Steam Trains :)
Great vlog girls.Annamarie were you getting covered in Midges, lol.xx
Ithink it was a spiders web flying through the air
Wonderful video! My only complaint...it wasn't long enough! I find your videos so relaxing and after my hard work today I needed me so cruising with my 2 favorite youngsters! Well you are compared to me! 😉🐈💋💞🐈
thank you, what a lovely compliment
still a beautiful day to mess about on the canal :P
Lovely intro, Kath😁
Hi Girls hope you are both ok?
You said that everyone is leaving where you are both going?
I wonder why?
Can't have anything to do with you just arriving lol only joking
Your doing everything right as you always do keep up the lovely vlogs so interesting and happy as you both are.
Many thanks best wishes,
John x
I love your videos and artwork. My fiance loves the paintings of the pixel ducks and 'splashing about ducks'. We are saving so we can get them framed. Now that I know you do commissions I have another thing to save for. Do you paint dogs? :)
yes I do. I'm so glad your fiancé liked the paintings. xx
big thumbs up girls ,them leaky locks lol.
Good morning ☀️ do the cats understand when you remove their collars they have to stay inside? I hope we can go through the hedge on the steam train 🚂
I'm not sure if they do understand, but as a general observation they do wait for the collar in the morning and go to sleep once it is removed in the evening.
Hi Annamarie and Kath, great video and commentary, what is though that hedge? A Fan from Aus.
It's when we get off the boat and literally go 'through the hedge' to explore. it is usually released as an extra vlog during the week- you can check out our playlist for through the hedge on our youtube homepage.
@ 2.25, that bend is much narrower than the camera makes it look. i was very pleased not to meet any one when i went round there in the summer.
I like your videos
Great show girls !! Watch it all the time, nice and mellow not like the junk on the tele. Great music used in the pontcisette ( you can't say it , i can't spell it !!!! ) crossing !!!
Good morning 🌞☀️😃
Greetings from Northern California (Wheatland) I'm just discovering narrow boat travel on youtube and am I'm finding this fascinating!! There seems to be a considerable section of the canal that only fits one boat at a time (not the lock)! Is this true or an optical illusion on my part in the video? Your vids are great!!!
It would depend on the canal. Sometimes you might have to hover if there is an approaching boat.
great video , poor puddies , you could see they really wanted to get out lol , ive noticed that you put chain on your ropes , is that because of people unduing your ropes , & have you ever had that happen to you ? .
No, the chain loops around the metal armco- if you just used rope it would eventually fray the rope.
On holiday, is tea always pre-tenish??? Or am I sloblishly late. Leaky Locks sounds like breakfast w/ kippers.
Ha ha you have a shoulder holster for your windless!
how do you manage with the litter tray being on board? Does that take up a lot of room if they need to use one?
Yes, they always use the litter tray, and we clean it like you would in a house. Bag up the waste- if you see a doggy waste bin you can usually dispose of it there.
Hi from Scotland ❤️
do yall report the leaky locks so they can check on them when they get the chance?
yes, but most of them are known to CRT already. They have an extensive repair and monitor program in place.
it sound like our roads, highways and interstates in the united states
>^. .^< Thank you forthe ride, looking forward to the steam rain ride too........
Obviously when everyone heard you coming, they all thought "The Queen's of the Canal are coming. We must be respectful and make room for them by running away.... Or boating away....".
That's my theory anyway.
Do Munchy and Alice bow to you every morning to show respect? 😆
Lovely video as always, thank you.
I do love how you tried to make everyone running away from us a compliment. lol
I figured out why Anna Marie doesn't have a job. There are no schools that teach Bogan in England. (is Bogan capitalized?)
PS someone needs to some time lapse painting. I would suggest Kat, but she's busy skipping the boat ;)
I figured it out. You two are the two squares in the crooked paddle. Im I right?
