Noticed that it’s a bit tense with the more snobby American type women. Did you see the one with Gucci W? Tense, shiver. On the otherhand she really got on with Bobby Brown who is very down to earth naturally.
FYI, the Amber Oil Emily is talking about is from a brand called Nemat Artisan Perfumery. It's about 18 US dollars online. It also comes in several sizes!
I would love to read Sali’s mind when she sniffs the perfume and says ‘yes, people absolutely love it’. I must say the base and concealer I bought from Glossier were great prices but did not deliver, they felt good on the hand but sat greasily on the skin, but the customer service was impeccable, instant refund with personal email telling me to keep the products or gift to a friend, so I would give them another chance. I just googled ‘Dopp kit’. It takes the name from leather craftsman Charles Doppelt who designed these cases in the 20’s.
I think mascara is so personal. I’m sure loads of people like the Glossier mascara, but it does nothing for me, I like fuller lashes. The time I want a more natural look or when I wear a red lip and I want a subdued eye, I’m wearing a brown mascara. There is absolutely no room in my beauty regime for a half ass black mascara. I love the Boybrow though, the liquid blushes and the balms.
I love the mascara from Glossier because on me it's absurdly lengthening, curling, and inky black (I have blond eyelashes). And it never gets clumpy or spidery, which happens with almost every other mascara I use. I've become converted to the more 'natural' eyelash look. But it's nearly impossible to remove. It's not waterproof but I have to use two rounds with an oil cleanser followed by a bi-phase eye makeup remover to get it off. Which is great if you work long days and need that kind of staying power but very annoying on a daily basis.
It's definitely not half-assed on me, things just work differently for folks. I have quite long lashes, and it perfects them in a lovely everyday way. Most of all it's RESILIENT. It just doesn't budge. I wore it on river day trips in summer heat, and it wouldn't move with sweat, sunscreen, and river water. Fucking amazing.
Youre so right! For me Glossiers mascara is the best Ive ever used. Usually makeup just wont stay on my eyes. And I think maby 1/50 mascaras hold the curl on me.. But Lash Slick last all day, holds the curl and does not clump. Its perfect! I have no problem washing it of either. I just use warm water and a cleansing oil from Avené 😊
Louise Miller Thanks for the tip! Have you tried True Organics - Undercover agent? Its the best deodorant Ive tried so far. I think its ever better than regular deodorants and Im a super sweaty person 😝😅
Mmmm interesting , Emily seemed to talk over Sally a lot and didn’t seem to listen to Sally either . I love Glossier , I like the branding and the barely there vibe ( I’m 49 and like a natural glowy look ) . I didn’t warm to Emily though . 🌈
@@angeladengg3169 she mentioned someone else did her makeup so that would have came from an MUA's kit not her own personal bag or stash. Makes sense she didn't talk about it.
I would love to see Sally have a group of everyday women on the street who use the brands she showcases to show us how they actually use the products. I could learn more about the brand that way. I like some of the products like the boy brow and blushes, but the concealer just slides off my face. I want to try the moisturizer and sunscreen.
Oh such a treat for a lazy Sunday morning. I loved that she shared other products she likes. I am also very pleased that they care about the environment, but I cannot help but wonder what they were thinking when they first launched Play. The amount of wasteful packaging was ridiculous. Glad to see they have come around.
I am that warm highlight caramel blonde girl! I have very warm hair and skin and going ashy makes me look so wrong. I still use a purple toner though!! I'm not an animal. Love you Sali, Happy Holidays!!
The brand feels a bit young for me (50) but I think Emily is brilliant for her approach and she has really tapped in to her generation. I love the simplicity and accessibility of the approach. Going to finally try the Boy Brow I think. Wish I could smell the perfume.
actually, I think it's great for our age (I'm 46). The concealer especially doesn't settle into lines, and the blushes are cream so really flattering. The Boy Brow is amazing. I'm not sold on Future Dew yet, but to be honest I've no idea how I"m supposed to be using it!
I'm 33 use it everyday. I use futuredew as a last step in my makeup routine, like a glowy makeup primer. It's divine. And I have oily skin and I still haven't had a problem.
Thank you Sally - I was curious about the Glossier founder and her philosophy is interesting ! Beauty is important ! Your hair looks amazing 😉Stephanie 🙏💋
One American and one British. I love the style of both of them. Interesting products and good information. I could never respect anyone who was not passionate about their products.
Very interesting interview. Im glad i watched, as the name of the brand put me off. I'm still combo and just thought of oiliness - clearly, that's not the case with the products. Fortunate I live in London, so Covent garden tube, I will be alighting in January 🤗
Who else wishes they could be as simple as this with makeup and skincare! I love switching it up so much that my bathroom looks more like Charlotte tilburys bathroom! (Also ct is my fave makeup so that’s probably why lol!) xx
I wear a drop of sandalwood as a natural deoderant, and it works. Sometimes I use other essential oils, but Sandalwood works best on my body.I always get compliments on my scent, that is how I know. I am also into amber scents so I will check out the Glossier fragrance.
Deodorant: Schmidts bergamonte is the only which is the best ever deo I had my hole life!!!! Can only recommend. It is better then the standard Aluminium Deo and is natural 🎊🎉 best day when I got it.
YES, YES, YES!!!! Thank you, Sali! :) Sali, you hit the nail on the head with Boy Lash. They did consider naming their mascara Boy Lash, but they eventually abandoned that trademark in favour of Lash Slick ;) Also, to Emily: you should try menstrual cups instead of tampons, if you haven't already. It's the best thing since sliced bread.
Natural deodorant Co. is pretty good and Malin & Goetz good too (Sali's recommendation) but I haven't found anything as completely bomb proof as the chemical anti-perspirant varieties. Depends on how much you sweat though really.
daniela sietkiewicz I know, before this interview, I was really wanting to try Glossier, but after listening to her speak, I'm not feeling that she has much beauty knowledge or even genuinely loves makeup and beauty. IssyKew You so took the words out of my mouth. That’s exactly how I felt. So put me off the products. It surprised me to even think like that, but it really turned me off. She just kept talking over Sally. It was really frustrating. There have been a few on here like that, but she won the trophy! And yes, she did appear rather naive about some things, which was surprising, being that she’s in the industry. Wonders never cease. It just makes me even more cynical about the ‘beauty’ industry. No matter how supposedly innovative or new a product is, they basically all do the same thing in the end. Create a mask. Some are more expensive masks than others. 🤷♀️ Make up has a place, but I’m a skin care and lippy girl. 💄 Happy with that. 😜
TOTALLY agree with you both! I LOVED the interviews Sali did with Trish McEvoy and Bobbi Brown.....those interviews did not feel like they were "PR FLUFF PIECES" where both brand creators just talked about their brands. Gosh even the Aerin Lauder interview was not as crap as this one - and Aerin has MULTIPLE Lauder Group brands she can push! But then again I've been completely underwhelmed by the dozen Glossier products I've tried in the past. None of which I wanted to re-purchase 🤷🏼♀️ I can't help but think that all the PR pandering that media darling Glossier receives is very "cult-like"....

Hi Sali, what is the name of the aluminium -free deodorant you found that works? I tried the crystal type & stick 'natural' ones and I think I just sweat too much for them (like I need an anti-perspirant I think). These have got rid of the plastic container as well ( www.ben-anna.com/?v=d2cb7bbc0d23 ) but I haven't tried them yet and am wondering do they work, have you heard anything? Thanks.
Hi Emily, I have been using this natural crystal stick deodorant (type this into google/ecosia: DEO KRISTALL Mineral Stick) for over a year now, it is a German brand, and I am super happy with it. I won't ever go back to normal deodorants. I used to use Dove deodorants before as well and tried out a ton of natural deodorants and they never worked for me but this one is great one in my opinion.
Loved this one! Felt like a catch up between two great women, not an interview. Looking forward to my first Glossier purchase...so many great products to choose from!
It's a good job Emily is not concerned with things commercially working out...given that Glossier is failing, laid off loads of staff and fails to engage its initial audience 🙃
