Interesting technique, why use it over feint or handbrake tho? Are there any upsides to doing it like that?

Hey brother, I forgot to cover this in the video and I tried to keep myself remember to mention this. I will definitely make another video of handbrake vs shift lock pluses and minuses, however here is what you need to know.
Shift Lock is basically an alternative to the Handbrake it mimics it.
The positives of Shift Lock are
      1. You do 2 things at once aka lock the wheels and down shift, so imagine you can do downshift and handbrake at the same time, very convinient in specific situations.
2nd not very mandatory is that shiftet is just more natural to grab and what we usually move our hand to, so it might be just slight convinience there too.
Shift Lock can also be done with Rev Matching aka heel and toe, to keep the speed of the driveline and ground the same, but we won't lock the rear wheels or it might be just enough to slightly break lose, depends how the car is tuned.

It's useful while racing if you enter a little too hot in a corner, the angle provided by the drift will slow down the car and help getting thru the corner.

@@waider yea absolutely, it's an awesome technique used a lot in rally due to them driving on low traction surfaces and it doesn't go heavy on the mechanical parts. But it's an awesome technique glad to hear you can utilize it in racing, even if asphalt is very rough on the parts.

just wanted to thank you for all the tutorials you've done so far, i started drifting about 4 days ago and your videos have helped out tremendously! originally i was using the WDTS silvia as shown in your prior videos as I wanted to copy everything you were doing to make sure I was doing all of it correctly. now that i've learned the basics i've switched over to the DWG s13 (173 hp) as I want to translate my skills into real life and I believe using the lower hp DWG cars will be more accurate to the types of cars I would be able to purchase/drift.
do you think I should continue to drift with the lower hp DWG cars? or should I just stick with the WDTS silvia (which I have gotten somewhat decent with) for the sake of consistency? also do you have any tips for drifting cars under 200 horsepower that you haven't shared already?
thanks again for the tutorials! very happy with my progress so far!

Hey brother, I will keep doing the tutorials up to top level and it will take a lot.
Now to your question DWG is amazing pack, lower horsepower cars are more technical, I don't think they are that great for beginners, however I honestly believe that due to the slidyness of WDTS as they are quite too slidy for realism, they still need good control to be smooth and do all tricks and be able to cover technical tracks too.
My advice is that 300hp is the great start zone, lower is technical aka harder, higher HP has other problems, but are easier to slide, higher HP hard things is the control when linking tracks and tuning the car to behave the way you want it.

@@projectxmotorsport thanks for the quick response! I think i'll heed your advice for now and either stick to the WDTS silvia or one of the other 300hp DWG cars, for the next couple of months. but I think I will still try and use the lower hp DWG cars later into the future, as I think it would still be good to get a little feel for how lower hp cars drift and know what to expect out of them.

@@fav_ Yes you should be able to drive all, however for different skill sets and places, different horsepower cars are needed, some touges can work with low hp, others not, so that's why I will want to cover in future and teach all kinds of cars, you should be able to have the skill and handle all cars.

hey brother ! So i've been drifting for maybe 1year now and at some point i was like "i'm not really improving or going to the next level" like i can drift of course but my problem is that i wanna start drifting some high horse
power cars maybe try to do some fd tracks and stuff but i can't, i always spin out... So i wanted to ask if at a moment in your tutorial series, you could start making videos for "advance" drifting so drifting with very high hp cars like 900-1000. Thank you very much brother and i'm watching all your series with attention ! It's always nice to re-learn the basics 🤝 I have some drifting videos on my channel aswell if u wanna tell me how are my skills 😂🙏

I'm very happy to hear that you enjoy my videos, yes I am on the road, but it's suuper long journey, because if I want to make you guys the best, I have to share every single detail and that means a loot of covering on begginer part, then medium, advanced, expert, top level.
My advice is learn perfect control over slow cars low hp cars 200-300hp they are very technical, if you handle that, high hp pro cars they are different story, I'd say everyone can slide the high hp cars, but low hp is hard.
