Awh, I actually really love Fitz. I do have to admit though, it takes a while for him to really grow. It's not until Anji shows up that Fitz really starts to develop, but yeah I freaking love his character arc.
I think you'd love the Eighth Doctor comic strips. It's, like audio, a specific medium with freedoms and limitations but, having grown up with the graphic novels as my first exposure to the Paul McGann Doctor, I cannot sing the praises of writer Scott Gray enough. The narrative structuring, the maturity, the thematic parallels, ooh, it's to die for! Wonderful stuff that I'd recommend. Also, one of the strips does the Ashildr 'immortal living through history' storyline with one of its own characters and, frankly, is much better. I need to really catch up with the Big Finish audios, having dipped in and out of McGann's rotor of stories, and these videos provide the incentive to do so, thanks to the great, unique style. Bless you, He Who Moans (but moans rather brilliantly) :)
You know how there's a trope in new who where companions die but then come back Imagine if they came back as deadites and Bruce has kills all of them Just imagine him chainsawing off claras head XD
My personal mini reviews for the Mary Shellie stuff The Company of Friends : Benny -great fine it's a Berenice story, it are always a good romp Fitz -I've read some books but this Fitzs was quite different, it was ok Izzy -very Beano like you said, she acts like a child Mary -yes enjoyable but bit timey wimey ... I think over all with Company of Friends ...I think it should have company and then a trilogy with each companion to have a bit more stuff really ... The Sliver Turk -great creepy characterisation of the cybermen also cool ideas The Witch from the Well -great witch story bit confusing but very creepy and enjoyable Army of Death -Yes it does feel like weve heard this a few times but still fun not as dark as the others
Note : I got The Sliver Turk ages ago it was one of the first ones I got as it was on sale,I did really enjoy it but found the doppelgänger and the eyes stuff kinda confusing , I tried to relisten to it but only finished part 1.. So I will have to relisten to it once more
I can’t help but disagree with the Fitz sentiment here. I know you said you haven’t gotten past Interference yet in this vid, but I’d say his appeal is going from that self assured asswipe and seeing him develop into a more emotionally genuine caring guy. Later on he has this really sweet arc about his identity after some mess involving a clone and I think it really endeared me to him.
Will you be covering the elixir of doom? Big finish put the third doctor on the cover because Jo is in it, but the actual story is about Iris, Jo and the eighth doctor. Keep up the good work.
+TheJaviferrol I got company of friends sometime ago because I really liked the comics. And I have to say, comic Izzy and BF Izzy are practically completely different characters. In the comics she is a sci fi fan, but more of a fan of Star Trek and things like that, also likeable and acts her age. In Big Finish she is a 8 year old in a 17 year olds body. I was really disappointed when I heard it, although I liked the other stories. The Comics are very good though, especially the Glorious Dead and Oblivion.
The one eda I read had Fitz and he was alongside the Dr the best thing. I felt their relationship was good. But when people tell me Fitz is better than charley I have to disagree to that
I'm gonna reccomend you read a lot more of the eda novels then, I wouldn't call him better than Charlie (though I haven't read all of his stuff yet) but it bloody close.
If "Izzy's Story" was meant to serve as my introduction to the character and tempt me to read the comics featuring her, or want future audio adventures with her as the companion, it failed spectacularly. To me, Izzy herself in this story was an asinine, childish caricature, with no sense of what realistic priorities are and certainly NOT deserving of the vindication she got after questionably pursuing her oh-so-precious comic (which sounded like a half arsed, child friendly "Judge Dredd" parody not even worth the dirt cheap price tag), especially to the point of nearly getting herself AND the Doctor killed simply because she REALLY wanted to read it, I'm a longtime comics lover with Asperger's Syndrome and even I'm not THAT obsessed, I was half expecting Izzy to be fitted for a straitjacket and thrown into a rubber room during that segment, with the Doctor questioning himself as to why the hell he let her in the Tardis to begin with. In short = I'm not shedding any tears over BF only using her once (so far).
I've not read the 8th dr comic strips, but I've from what ive seen most fans of them hate izzys big finish portrayal as well, so don't take this story as an example of what those comics have to offer.
@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 I've seen similar complaints since my original comment, and knowing that Izzy's creator Alan Barnes wrote her audio debut for this BF release makes her grating portrayal in it all the more puzzling, was he pestered into writing this story, thus deciding to make her so annoying that hardly anyone would want future stories with her? We'll likely never know.
I wonder if the Mary Shelley and 8 duo was meant to continue beyond the three stories we got.
Awh, I actually really love Fitz. I do have to admit though, it takes a while for him to really grow. It's not until Anji shows up that Fitz really starts to develop, but yeah I freaking love his character arc.
i was really surprised how good mary shelley worked as a companion. great chemistry between them. i was hoping for more.
The Company of Friends were fun little jaunts. And Izzy was brilliant, refreshing, I wish there were more episodes of her with the Eighth Doctor.
Ah yeah, "Witch from the Well", that time Nick Briggs wanted to change his name but was so lazy that he only changed a letter
But isn't Rick Briggs confirmed to actually be another person
Lick Lego It´s a running joke on the BF podcast
Great to see you back with Big Finish.
I'd be very interested in seeing you talk about Bernice Summerfield.

bowtieanimation these are the ones with Izzy, Kroton, Destrii, and Alpha, right? Yeah, those ones are great :)
Dr who does evil dead/Dr who does army of Darkness, lets just get Bruce Campbell in an episode of Doctor Who Already! Boomstick and everything!
You know how there's a trope in new who where companions die but then come back
Imagine if they came back as deadites and Bruce has kills all of them

i rally like fits story, and it makes the books canon
I really hope we get a full series of 8 and Izzy one day. Definitely the stand out character of this release (and yes, that includes Mary)

Jonathan Morris
Johnny Morris (look him up) would be great in a BF play.
Rick Briggs lol
Very nice. I was interested before in some of these story's, but now you got me hooked. Will you do Doom Collition in this series?
i really liked the silver turk.
#JusticeForFitzKreiner
Will you be covering the elixir of doom?

+Gary Murden Thank you! Knew I was missing something
+Stubagful Not a problem. Love the videos. You were great on 5wf. I would love to hear you and billy on a big finish product.

Then, along came: 'Series 11.'
Thanks for being helpful.
Are you doing Dark Eyes boxset by boxset or as one great big thing?
Nice Timelash reference there.
I thought the "joke " with Fitz was "Fitz is secretly gay for the Doctor and the Doctor may be secretly gay for Fitz"?
Where's the joke in that?
Someone tell Stu to watch Gravity Falls.
Yes its just you lmao
Fitz in the Dogma Audio productions is better than Fitz in the books and Big Finish
yaaaaaaaaaaaas
