Lyrics: I remember Da, stood in the doorway I was beating up an egg in a cup I remember Ma busy in the kitchen, making the most of what we got. Down that laneway, lined with trees, I’d be digging in the dirt There wasn’t much of anything, but what we had was just enough. When the daffodils explode come springtime and nature burst into bloom The tall grass swayed in the meadows, quite a picture come the month of June Fished in the river, ran through the fields A ball of fire crossed above. Climbed up the gate reaching for the stars before I tumbled off. Chorus: And I remember it well out that old bog road Fresh thatched roof and white washed walls And I remember it still out that long narrow road that took me home, long long ago Summer sun shone bright that day, when up the chimney there rose a spark Set that thatch a blazing till the whole house turned to ash We packed up what we could and drove down that lane, streaks of lightning lit up the sky Through a steady fall of rain, think I forgot to say goodbye Chorus Now the weeds have grown up plenty, around that house where once I lived And every time I pass it, memories fill up inside my head Down that laneway where I once played, those daffodils still grow You can see that old house still but not so easily Chorus
Ah, the white wash walls the thatched roof and the daffodils , Out the old bog road, great original song and very well performed well done to both of you.
Loved it! May I recommend a slight adjustment? Switch out your bridge pins with a set of Martin Ebony Pearl dot Pins...they cost a good penny (about $35 last year) - Switched mine just out of curiosity & I was shocked!!! Made an old Vantage sound like a Taylor Custom 214ce. Just a thought.
Lyrics:
I remember Da, stood in the doorway
I was beating up an egg in a cup
I remember Ma busy in the kitchen, making the most of what we got.
Down that laneway, lined with trees, I’d be digging in the dirt
There wasn’t much of anything, but what we had was just enough.
When the daffodils explode come springtime and nature burst into bloom
The tall grass swayed in the meadows, quite a picture come the month of June
Fished in the river, ran through the fields
A ball of fire crossed above.
Climbed up the gate reaching for the stars before I tumbled off.
Chorus:
And I remember it well out that old bog road
Fresh thatched roof and white washed walls
And I remember it still out that long narrow road that took me home, long long ago
Summer sun shone bright that day, when up the chimney there rose a spark
Set that thatch a blazing till the whole house turned to ash
We packed up what we could and drove down that lane, streaks of lightning lit up the sky
Through a steady fall of rain, think I forgot to say goodbye
Chorus
Now the weeds have grown up plenty, around that house where once I lived
And every time I pass it, memories fill up inside my head
Down that laneway where I once played, those daffodils still grow
You can see that old house still but not so easily
Chorus
