I had this happen to me in my little Fiat Panda on a foggy night. I made sure to be as far away from the car whilst keeping it in view. In the hour I was waiting for roadside assistance my car was almost hit 4 times. Definitely a must-have in any vehicle.
I picked up one of these myself for the same reason. These are also great for parking in tight areas or no parking zones, temporarily. No one will question you if there is a flashing light on your car!
You should of gone to Response Vehicle Lighting, they do a range of battery operated warning lights. Highly recommend as I purchase all my warning equipment from them.
@davejordan3131 . Hi Dave. Thank you for your kind comment. I can't find an exact link for mine, but if you search 'emergency flashing beacon' on Amazon or Google, you will find a good selection available. Thanks again and good luck finding exactly what you want. David.
HAPPY NEW YEAR David to you and your family. Thanks for the info on the Hazard light. I've got a battery one in the boot. But think I'm gonna get one like yours so can recharge. Did you fix the main fuse yrself if you did, might be worth a video to show where it is, and what size fuse average car needs! Take care all the best
Thank you, and to you and yours too. No, I had to get the garage to order one as they don't keep them in stock, and fit it for me as it's part of a block that fixes to the positive battery terminal. I'd had an intermittent fault with the Alternator which was eventually replaced. An auto electrician said that the fault had probably weakened the fuse over time. I think it was an 80amp fuse.
@@DavidGarside Hi David thanks for replying. Rember back in the day when we replaced the brushes in the Alternators ourselves. Today the who thing probably needs replacing, you'll probably need special tools to get access. I'm with the RAC so they are pretty (good touch wood not needed them for several years.) Just curious the main fuse is it something only an auto electrician can do? Can a diyer have a go! I know I will probably never have to change one myself it's probably a once in a lifetime job, and to also have the same or similar problem as yours. But it's the COLUMBO in me lol.
Yes I remember changing brushes in the old dynamos but never tried it in an alternator....similar I would think. I'm going to strip my old one to see how easy it would be, and see if I can see anything obvious that caused the intermittent fault. I would have been able to change the main fuse myself i think, but you'd need a spanner to disconnect the block. I might do a video just to show it's location and which one had gone.
@@DavidGarside Thanks David yeah it might have only been the dynamos. I remember going to a shop beside the Spurs football ground. It was called Amps for a part exchanged one. If I remember correctly you need a special spanner to get inside it. The Amps shop gave a guarantee so it was worth exchanging it and pay a little instead of a brand new one. David they must brushes inside the alternators? Anyway take care look forward to seeing where that main fuse is located when and if you decide to make a video. All the best
Dave, last night I had a puncture on the Queensferry crossing and was on the hard shoulder with vehicles driving past about 3' away at 70+mph. Scary, very scary. I've looked at Amazon's website and can't see that particular light, they all look similar but without the solar panels. Can you please tell me the manufacturer or Amazon's iD code for the light you have just showed.
Yes, that sounds very scary, lucky you weren't involved in an accident. This is the link to mine, had to make sure it had the cigarette lighter plug too. I keep mine charged at home, do it once a week as it keeps it full..... @@DavidGarside Thank you. I've just ordered one for me and one for my wife. Something similar should be standard equipment in cars
Good video. it would help to toss the amazon link to purchase the light. Thanks, again.
Thank you Gregory....I've now added the link. 👍
What are the hazard car lights for?
For when you still have power....when the battery dies or the main fuse blows you can't use the hazards......
