    Manufacturer Name: BELL
    Model: 206B
    MFR Year: 1975
    FAA # N870H
    Serial Number: 1845
    The Bell 206 is a family of two-bladed, single- and twin-engined helicopters, manufactured by Bell Helicopter at its Mirabel, Quebec, plant. Originally developed as the Bell YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, it was not selected by the Army. Bell redesigned the airframe and successfully marketed the aircraft commercially as the five-place Bell 206A JetRanger. The new design was eventually selected by the Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell also developed a seven-place LongRanger, which was later offered with a twin-engined option as the TwinRanger, while Tridair Helicopters offers a similar conversion of the LongRanger called the Gemini ST. The ICAO-assigned model designation "B06" is used on flight plans for the JetRanger and LongRanger, and the designation "B06T" is used for the twin-engined TwinRangers.

      Respectfully, the only problem here is that this is not TV, but real life. I think that this pick-up-to-a-hover and departure is very reckless. Show this video to any real helicopter pilot and he/she will explain why I say this. Airwolf was a fiction. This was an unsafe and potentially dangerous takeoff.

      LAPD used these as I was growing up in the San Fernando Valley from when we moved from Chicago in 1979 into at least 2002. I moved out of L.A. in 2002. I am sure they used them earlier than 1979. In the earlier 1980s, some precincts had their own copter, and as a kid playing in various leagues at Northridge Park, saw the Devonshire Division's copter landing and taking off since the station was literally across the street from the park! I don't recall the year, but the LAPD centralized all their copters to downtown L.A. like as seen in numerous movies and TV shows. I kind of took it for granted getting birds-eye views on numerous occasions of the 206 taking off and landing. My family's neighborhood was quiet and relatively upscale, so not too many flights overhead, but once or twice a week, it sounded like one was landing in our backyard, or one of the neighbor's backyards when they were pursuing vehicles on the nearby main streets.

    • @ttu-lb3mx
      @ttu-lb3mx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. Don't confuse skill with "hot-dogging". The pick-up-to-a-hover and departure in this video is perhaps one of the most reckless I have seen in a long time. It puts the pilot, passengers, the aircraft, and surroundings at unnecessary risk in the event of an emergency. The most critical flight transitions are always take-offs and landings. As a pilot, you want to move through these transitions as safely and quickly as possible. There was absolutely nothing safe about this departure. Unless this pilot is attempting to avoid enemy ground fire or is demonstrating the capabilities of this aircraft in a safer environment such as an airshow, there is no reason for this reckless and unsafe maneuvering on departure. If you don't believe this jet ranger pilot, show this video to any "real" helicopter pilot. And he/she will explain to you why every part of this pick-up-to-a-hover and departure is reckless. Skilled pilots don't fly like this.

    Man, I just love the sound of the 206 turbine engines, such a turn-on! 👍🏻 I've always loved helicopters and it was the tv show "Airwolf" that got me interested in them. Airwolf flying at supersonic speeds was unrealistic because helicopters can't fly fast, but they sure are way cool! 😎 The fact that a helicopter has a rotating section inherently gives it such personality! 👌🏻 I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
