Thoroughly Enjoyed this way to go NSU love you goys.. Now yall got me on edge trying to decide which I enjoyed 2019 BOTB march in or this. But don't worry I'm sure I'll make the best decision.
I can honestly say this isn't my first time hearing this band but it was the first time I actually listened & I must say I am thoroughly impressed & amazed! WOW! 😮
Norfolk has this great ability to be so diverse in sound for every arrangement they play. And their intonation is so mature. TnSU is in trouble if they don't pull out music showcasing some more complex rhythms and more lush harmonies. You have to outplay NSU not out blow them and not try to out groove them.
I second that!! But what bands can do that and still appeal to their fan bases…not the swac bands, excluding Bethune and FAMU…they are taught to be loud and wrong
@troystrong8041 in the swac last year, only TxSU had the diverse book to compete with NSU and went outside of music in 4-4 tempo only. I think they edge NSU on harmonies, but NSU edges on cleanliness. I give them a tie for creativity and a tie for diversity. Both exercised way more dynamic nuance than any bands and only UAPB, BCU and FAMU usually do that consistently. It's a new day.

@stevenholiday I love there auxiliary. There male flags stayed and did male flag stuff. Can somebody please show my Marching 100 flags this. I hate the way they look in the stands trying to do dance girl stuff😂😂.
Man, That TSU vs NSU battle will be one of the absolute best of this fall season. Hope they have a BoomBox classic style weekend. Cannot wait to witness it.
No one outplays them....not that I have heard yet....When I went against them at the Honda every single band there was chomping at the bit to get at each other until they played and everyone knew we were competing for 2nd place...
Along with performing, the male flag’s (Spartan Guard) responsibility is to protect the band but there’s more emphasis in protecting the dance team (Hot Ice) and MDF$( drumline) when they perform a percussion section block

I'm asking Spartans. Is Dirty Diana and Sweet Love every year all season stand music. Because I've noticed multiple years of you playing it. I have a friend that was a dancer ther over 10 years ago and they played it her years there
When I say this band is second to the 100 I mean it… the tone and power is there… the only difference is woodwinds are overshadowed but understandably that’s not their style. Spartans is suppose to be brassy. Concept and identity is and has always been there. Form a former Marching100 band member this is the only band I was join if I didn’t go to FAMU.
Yeah I'd laugh too if your band doesn't know how to articulate and your drum section sounds like poo. At least y'all loud though if that means anything.

Apparently the tournament of roses parade committee didn't think they were so boring since not even a swac band was invited to stop the parade and do a grandstand performance. And apparently when they're ranked at the top of the polls every year for halftime shows people do. But thanks for the view though.
JSU and SU fans can’t stand the fact that Norfolk State is a force of nature….you can’t just blow the lacquer off instruments to beat them….you going to have to really “PLAY”….and sound good doing it and not sound like screaming cats😊😊😊

The Legion sounds sooooo good and clean! I would say the cleanest, well-rounded band in HBCU.
The Spartan Legion is always been one of cleanest band. They definitely have the most original songs.

Yeah when I watch FAMU vids their flags are in my blind spot. I purposely try to avoid looking at them.
They sound Amazing,👏🏾👏🏾 Everyone section week to be playing on key and staying in the pockets and accenting when should.

Just as FAMU has Say La La, BCU Da Butt, etc those songs are NSU staples.
They will be even cleaner , there in my opinion always the cleanest of alll hbcu bands but again can be somewhat boring
They have always been very very clean. The field show in my opinion sometimes can be boring but there clean and very under-rated
I watched a lot of bands and no band is as musically mature as The Legion in this preseason to-date... Not one band.
