Great test! Both are good toilets. I had a 1951 Compton installed for a year and then a 46/ 48 mismatch cadet for a couple years. They both were equally reliable, though neither one was totally clog free. I prefer the quicker flush on the Compton. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the bowl is so shallow in the front that often times you end up touching it, lol. My Cadet always flushed foam in one flush after a cleaning. I can't remember how the Compton did on foam but it was generally good.
Thanks for the shoutout! I actually really enjoy both of these! I really want to get both of these. I have 2 comptons but they have different trapways but they perform the same as this lol.
Very interesting tests! I wish I knew the trapway sizes of each of these. Unfortunately I don’t have access to any catalogs rn. Either way, I’ve always preferred Comptons. It’s really cool to see how these generations compare
I've always thought that the Comptons performed better but the Cadets have a better flush. The Cadet seems to handle "floaters" better than the Compton.
And these toilets in ebay are being sold for like 500-1000 dollars... And btw is it possible to test the Compton with 1.6 gpf flush? I heard some forward trappers can flush flawlessly with 1.6 gpf.
You know, I remember the very first time I ever took a standard toilet out. I messed up big time because that toilet was an inch away from the shower door, and it barely missed the shower door and any new toilet that I put in could not do it, so I had to find one of them, and it took me forever😂
This gives new meaning to "Straight out of Compton" 😂😂😂😂 Hey, I appreciate all these flushing demos of benched(not connected) toilets on TH-cam, but in the interest of water conservation, is there a way could recapture the flushed water and refill the tanks with it? There's no human waste involved, so this is something to consider going forward.
Many of the track houses in Pacoima, California had Compton toilets in them in the 1960s. The on;ly time they clogged at my house at that time, was when the tree roots would get this in the outlet sewer of the house. Otherwise, they worked excellent.
Awesome, Standard was the first choice of many builders back in the day. Unfortunately they started just using cheap mass produced no name toilets more recently
i havent watched it yet and i already know who is gonna win.. edit: now im done and im still not surprised. also, you should do a modernus vs compton test, along with a cadet vs plebe test.
Love how it swirls the bowl right before it flushes. So they had bowl rinse in mind back then and they also used more water which makes for a better flush
These are both amazing toilets but the Compton takes the win. A cool idea would be a video called "Round American Standard Plebe vs Elongated American Standard Plebe." Lol.
De casualidad tienen ese inodoro llamado compton modelo standard de 1950 , todavía está en venta en México, me gusta mucho ese inodoro, porque baja bien el agua. 😍🚽
If you have an outside toilet at your house like I do, go for it! But never flush this stuff down a toilet that is connected to a sewer system or septic tank.

They both performed like beasts. But if I had to choose one to install in my bathroom I would choose the Compton.
I chose the Cadet to install and I'm very pleased with it

You both have plumbing in your name
I've always thought that the Comptons performed better but the Cadets have a better flush. The Cadet seems to handle "floaters" better than the Compton.
Yeah I was a little surprised by the floaters.
Is the cadets trapway bigger than the Compton?

The forward trap Compton is much better than the Cadet on the tests - however both toilets are great anyway!

Straight out of Compton lol. It would be nice if I could reuse the water but it gets all discolored
The white one the bathroom is the best one
I really like that one too
You should do the Compton vs the Modernus. You could just set up the Compton next to the low tank setup for that
That would be cool!
Wait... Plebe vs this Cadet
I think Compton and Modernus bowls are practically identical inside looking down from above although the exterior is different.
Many of the track houses in Pacoima, California had Compton toilets in them in the 1960s. The on;ly time they clogged at my house at that time, was when the tree roots would get this in the outlet sewer of the house. Otherwise, they worked excellent.

@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations Wonder if there is a Compton elongated existing around somewhere?
@@pawfan I would doubt it.
Is the Compton able to stand on it's own without falling backwards with the tank?
It can't stand by itself. It was being supported by the Cadet.

5, same as the Cadet.

What is that color called that the cadet has

I thought the cadet originally had the floating ball/vertical flush valve in place of a flapper or tower
The older ones did, up until 1958 or 1959.
Where do you get all of the toilets!?
I got the Compton for free on Craigslist and I found the Cadet in the trash at a plumber's headquarters.
