    I'm glad you are using the flower. Many years ago I did a whole afghan with this flower and it came out really awesome. I gave it to my sister as a Wedding gift and she still uses it today!!

    love the flower...never made a granny square before, though. I want the squares bigger, (I want to make a purse) I guess I go another "round the block"? I will look at the other tutorial you have. I LOVE the mistakes you allow us to see, as you say, it affirms your humanity, and along with the accent, your videos are endearing and a pleasure to see (hear).

    I'm not sure if your question was answered. My understanding is that for making that starting loop, 4 chains was too tight, thus do 5 chains to make the loop. The chain up to do the triple crochet is typically 4.

    I love the flower. I think the granny square make the flower look really pretty. I love the granny square because you can do so much with them. Where do you get your crochet hooks? Thank you for sharing this pattern.:)

  • @CrochetwithClare
    @CrochetwithClare  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    back. you work into the chain 4 of the petal

  • @irmar
    @irmar 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The written pattern:
    You can use the flower on its own, or make it into a granny square, as small or as big as you like by adding more rows.
    Chain 5, join with sl. st to make a circle (or use a magic loop)
    Rd1: ch 4 (=1 tr), 4 more tr (total of 5), turn the work around, ch 4 (=1 tr), into the 2nd st. from hook make 1 tr, another tr into the next (total of 3). Turn around again and as you look at the petal, insert the hook at the left of the 5th tr, and join with a sl. st. You have folded the petal horizontally. Now with your fingers bring the 3 tr part to the back, so that the 5 tr part is on the front.
    Do another 7 petals in the same way. When you have your 8 petals, secure and cut your yarn (unless you want to make the granny square in the same colour).
    If you want to proceed to a granny square, you will be working your clusters into the 4 ch loops at the START of each petal (to the right). So join your yarn into one of those loops, and…
    ch 3 (=1 dc), another 2 dc into the same 4-ch space. This is one cluster. As we want to make a corner, ch-2 and then make another cluster into the same space. Corner made.
    In the next ch-4 space, make a cluster of 3 dc. Side made.
    Go on like that, alternating between 1 corner and 1 side. Finish with 1 side. You now have four sides and four corners.
    You may cut your yarn here, or make another round, or more. Of course in subsequent rounds you will work in the spaces between clusters, and the sides will grow bigger: the 2nd granny row will have 2 the 3rd will have 3 etc (each new row will have one cluster more)
