Clare, I showed this to Lela's son Carlos. He liked the video very much and said his mom would have been really happy to know she passed this on and kept it going!! Thank you so much from me and my friends for doing this fantastic video. God bless!!!
I'm glad you are using the flower. Many years ago I did a whole afghan with this flower and it came out really awesome. I gave it to my sister as a Wedding gift and she still uses it today!!
I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach crochet to others. I cannot learn from patterns your videos are a blessing.
Thanks so much for your patient and relaxed teaching method! Recently I made a blanket that was in dire need of embellishments. This flower pattern is perfect. Watching the video has made a world of difference. You really make it easy to understand. Thanks so much! I'll be visiting your channel often!
Beautiful! I've wanted to start a granny square afghan, but hadn't found the right flower that I wanted to stitch....thanks to you, I've FOUND IT! Thanks so much for sharing!
Again, I can't seem to say enough about your videos, they are so great, I love this flower and am going to make it, now in the summer, under air-conditioning so I will have it this winter... Please, please make more videos...I do learn from them, they are so easy to follow, finally someone who slows down enough to teach us layman.....Super Thanks
I am from Uruguay, your tutorials are excellent, I have done many things that you upload, but not English you explain very well, gracias.saludos from afar
Thank you so much! I've made this red and black bag in pink and black. I'm about to sew the squares together. I'm loving this bag! Thank you so very much for sharing!
Thanks so much, I really like it and am working on the bag (in carrot and coffee colors). This flower also seems to look nice turned around (other side) - I'm using the side you used in your tutorial - looks great! Your tutorials are fun and pretty easy to follow. Thanks again !
Oh how I love this flower, I am going to add another row of the white and make an afghan, I love it. I am also going to use the flower for my hat. I really like your videos, please keep making more and different flowers, I will be back
love the flower...never made a granny square before, though. I want the squares bigger, (I want to make a purse) I guess I go another "round the block"? I will look at the other tutorial you have. I LOVE the mistakes you allow us to see, as you say, it affirms your humanity, and along with the accent, your videos are endearing and a pleasure to see (hear).
Thanks Clare. I hv learned so much from ur tuts. As one stated in earlier comments, I believe this flower motif will make good for purses. If I use this flwr for such, I'll b sure & post some pictures. Thanks again, Ruth
Claire, I just went thru your list of videos and i didn't see your "Dimple Hat", it's one of my favorites. i made it for my granddaughter and she loved it.
Made it thanks ..... this will look awesome as a baby throw, I will post a pic in facebook when I have finished it, along with all your other wonderful patterns lol I am so glad I have been able to sit and listen and do all of your wonderful patterns, you make them sound so really easy and understandable....... well for me anyway :D thanks
Thank you so much for teaching, I really really think you are the bomb! lol...I hope to learn how to read patterns soon. I am so happy that I am learning how to crochet. This means a lot too me. :))
Love the Lela crochet flower and also all your other videos! And all u share to teach. Could this same flower be done with double crochet for a smaller flower for a baby blanket?
I'm not sure if your question was answered. My understanding is that for making that starting loop, 4 chains was too tight, thus do 5 chains to make the loop. The chain up to do the triple crochet is typically 4.
If you know how to do a granny square, it is the like that for the next row, If you do not, look for the traditional granny square and use the second row
I love the flower. I think the granny square make the flower look really pretty. I love the granny square because you can do so much with them. Where do you get your crochet hooks? Thank you for sharing this pattern.:)
The written pattern: You can use the flower on its own, or make it into a granny square, as small or as big as you like by adding more rows. Chain 5, join with sl. st to make a circle (or use a magic loop) Rd1: ch 4 (=1 tr), 4 more tr (total of 5), turn the work around, ch 4 (=1 tr), into the 2nd st. from hook make 1 tr, another tr into the next (total of 3). Turn around again and as you look at the petal, insert the hook at the left of the 5th tr, and join with a sl. st. You have folded the petal horizontally. Now with your fingers bring the 3 tr part to the back, so that the 5 tr part is on the front. Do another 7 petals in the same way. When you have your 8 petals, secure and cut your yarn (unless you want to make the granny square in the same colour). If you want to proceed to a granny square, you will be working your clusters into the 4 ch loops at the START of each petal (to the right). So join your yarn into one of those loops, and… ch 3 (=1 dc), another 2 dc into the same 4-ch space. This is one cluster. As we want to make a corner, ch-2 and then make another cluster into the same space. Corner made. In the next ch-4 space, make a cluster of 3 dc. Side made. Go on like that, alternating between 1 corner and 1 side. Finish with 1 side. You now have four sides and four corners. You may cut your yarn here, or make another round, or more. Of course in subsequent rounds you will work in the spaces between clusters, and the sides will grow bigger: the 2nd granny row will have 2 the 3rd will have 3 etc (each new row will have one cluster more)
I love your pattern and look forward to making it, however I have a question, is this only one row of the granny square on the patttern or is there more than one? Thanks for your help.
@bobwilson123 I was wondering if you would have any videos on normal hats or any types of blankets. Also can you upload a tutorial on a simple granny square
I have a question I usually do my granny square with 3 dc and chain 2 3 dc and chain 1 then 3 dc in the center in between the 2 corners is that ok for this pattern or will it mess it up
Love your videos! Would you like to come to Terrigal for weekend/week to give my 9 year old grand daughter and me some tuition for all meals inclusive? You will have lots of time to do your own thing. Come on, say YES! BTW, my granddaughter said your Spotlight video looked like me (yesterday at Big W) wool aisle. Looking forward to your favourable response. And feel free to bring Bob!

Hi there, is this the flower you used for the red and black bag?. By the way your tutorials are wonderful. I have learned so much from you and appreciate your Aussieness!! Lol. Greeting from Queensland
Bobby: Did not like my flower. some petals are small and others are big, the 4 chains to start i do not believe is enough. i can't fit the 8th petal anywhere. I will try again making the 4 chains looser. And this is the flower that will go with the project i'm making. agggrrr.
Hello Kathy, everyone has different tension so if we both use the same size hook we may get different sizes :) Try it will a bigger hook and see how you like it :)
