For debris that gets stuck behind the ejector plate, how do you clean that? If the ejector plate is extended and you climb in through the door on the plate, would that be considered a confined space? There's a door there so it must be used for something, and I'm wondering how to perform maintenance inside safely. The bar that is on the ejector plate, is that a protective device to prevent the door from slamming if the hydraulics fail? If the ejector plate is out and the hydraulics fail, would the door push the ejector plate back into the truck?

That is considered by osha to be a confined space entry behind the push plate. Best way of cleaning is to have plate all the way extended, hold open the 6" gate valve for drain with rope and stand opposite side port hole and pressure wash wand out the debris into the drain and with the plate extended, the rest will make it's way down and out. A good functioning wash down bar and tips also aids tremendously with removing trapped debris and letting it run out past the scrapers on plate while dumping. If you're getting debris packed higher than the port holes behind the push plate you are over filling the tank. Hope this helps.

The bar does not protect the cylinder from contacting the tailgate. If the tailgate is lowered with the plate extended, it will contact the edge of the cylinder. It really won't push the plate or cylinder in but it could potentially warp the tailgate/damage the tailgate edge and seal.

Use some real world application materials..like what you'd fin in road beds in city streets, like bricks and 7" rocks to go up the hose and get it blocked...then show use how you quickly fix that problem. Design flaw 101....the boom don't come down low enough to work on the hose clamp that hold the rubber hose (snorkel) to the extendable pipe section. You can't take the hose off with out a fork lift and a pallet to stand on to disconnect the hose. Badger trucks, you can stand on top of the truck and disconnect the hose right at the tank intake porthole, turn the hose around and suck back the blockage...and your good to go.
I've operated both badger trucks and Mud dogs. In my opinion Badge is a better design. Not even going to mention all the time cleaning mud and debris from behind the mud dog push plate / wall. More work than it worth.
Badger clean out the material in this video of a full load....open and closed...clean rinse out in less than 3 mins.
Get a better boom design set up, because the most down time we had with our mud dogs were because of hose blockages where the snorkel and extender pipe connect. Seriously the fact that you can't get to the hose clamps to disconnect the hose to remove a block at ground level are a major draw back.
