Bought this from Ian outside the 9:30 in '81, played it for FEAR the summer of '82 at my friend's apt. before a San Diego gig (come to think of it, I saw Fear and Minor Threat play that summer in San Diego, and Killing Joke--what a great vacation that turned out to be! Almost caught King Crimson, too, but had to return home a day or two before that show, Mom was starting to think I'd been abducted). Sold it circa '85 at Dave's Records in Glendale. Wish I still had it. Amazing energy/Great songs.
@@theiceman6941 Wow - six years to six minutes, from my comment to yrs! Ah, the days of hand to hand from band to fan. I actually bought two diff't ones that night in D.C. It was all they had so far. Sold 'em both, by necessity - not choice, really, in L.A. I taped 'em - prob still here somewhere, but tapes get old & wear out. Those clubs were no more by the time I moved west. Hard living, those early yrs - but good times, nonetheless!
Damn, i don't know how they do this but most of their songs seem longer... in a good way... they say so much within a minute and a half. First time listening and I'm already in love

Continuing on with our little Minor Threat love fest on the occasion of Ian MacKaye's birthday on April 16. What more can be said about this band? They have already received just about every accolade. And in my book they deserve the highest possible praise, on many fronts. First you have a band whose musicianship is beyond reproach and is held in the highest esteem by everyone who loves punk music. They write inspiring songs with some of the most intelligent lyrics ever put to music. Here are the eight tracks from their debut e.p. and feature the original blazing quartet in all their glory. Hearing these songs the first time changed many people's lives and became a youth rallying cry. It also immediately put Minor Threat in the pantheon of hardcore (the music that came after punk and spawned slam dancing) Then you have Ian MacKaye, the singer and founder of Dischord Records, who sold Minor Threat records very inexpensively so every kid could own one. In an effort to keep the prices down I believe he lost money on one of them. But imagine the joy a kid with very little money had buying a Minor Threat record. To me that is priceless. Ian had all ages shows where no alcohol was served and the tickets were very inexpensive. . His anti-music business and anti-"rock star" attitudes are refreshing in this day and age when money and fame seem to be everyone's goal. Minor Threat and Stiff Little Fingers are the two most inspirational punk bands I have seen. Seeing them could change one's life---and always for the better. 00:00 Filler 1:32 I don't wanna hear it 2:47 Seeing Red 3:50 Straight Edge 4:35 Small man, big mouth 5:29 Screaming at a Wall 7:01 Bottled Violence 7:56 Minor Threat

ANOTHER RECENT AUCTION RESULT, THIS TIME FOR ONE OF MY THREE ALL TIME FAVORITE HARDCORE RECORDS. As an aside---When this record was released in 1981, the band would pile into their car and travel around the East Coast trying to promote the record. When they got to NYC they went to Bleecker Bob's famous record store on 4th Street. They asked Bob if he would buy a few copies for it was either $1 or $2 apiece (it retailed for $4) Bob refused, saying he would only take them on consignment. The band walked out. LOL. All you die hard fans of the band who are thinking "Shit, I want this but can't afford it" take heart. I've heard this original pressing. When it was released, with their other 7" e.p., as part of Minor Threat's 12" album in 1984 (Dischord 12) the sound was much improved. And that record is much much cheaper. I never really thought of this as an EP: 8 songs on 12" vinyl. Probably never noticed how short it was because I would just play it again.
