My Mother in Law’s family are Amish & Mennonite - and since I grew up not only “English”, but also “in town”, I didn’t know much of anything about anything when my husband and I married 30+ years ago. But, she was determined that I learn every little thing about “being a good housewife” (and feed her son well 😉)- so learn, I did! She taught me a lifetime of valuable things in the years I had with her [putting up bushels upon bushels of beets, sweet corn, tomatoes, potatoes, pickles and beans my first year of marriage was quite the “initiation”!] 😆 She’s gone now, but watching your videos sure helps me feel close to her in a lot of ways. So, thank you for that - and keep them coming! 🌸

I don't know how your prayers for outsiders work, or if you even do that, but I could use all the prayers I can get. I found out that I have pancreatic cancer just 2 weeks ago. I'm going to be doing chemo starting next week. Please add my grandchildren to your prayers list. They need me to be here. Their mom passed away a few years ago in a car accident. I'm trying very hard to be strong and not show how frightened I am in front of them. Please pray for strength for me to continue my treatments and not show in any way that I'm scared. I love, love, love your channel!! I don't know why most people don't live like this. Thank you. You're an inspiration.

Suggestion. Put the carrots in the potato fries chopper. Easy peasy for slices. For small tomatoes put a bunch of them on a plate and put another plate on top of them to hold them and slice knife across between the plates. Fast cutting of multiple ones quickly.

Enjoy the videos, and your food looks delicious! Growing up as a boy in the midwest, Iowa , and Nebraska, and being of German heritage myself, I'm supprised I don't see more potato soup. That was a lunch regular especially in winter, my Mom said it would "stick to your ribs", basically meaning it would keep you warm in the winter in sub zero temperatures. We also had kraut runza, similar to pierogis. Runzas are a mixture of cooked cabbage, ground beef, and garlic, salt and pepper, then roll out bread dough about bun size, put the mixture in, seal them off, let them rise for a bit, then bake. Spectacular!!! Thanks for a glimpse into Hutterite life, I've had an interest for decades!

In this case, you enable the baptized women to take place in the communion service while an unbaptized person cooks for her. Christ's body is in action...loving each "body part"... I love watching your cook week. It's a big responsibility to feed 120 people every day and you and your helper did an amazing job of it. Sweet, loyal Kona always makes me smile. From letting you take the goop from her eye to patiently waiting for you to walk you home, you couldn't find a better companion. My little pup is finally house trained and walks nicely on a leash but patience is not a thing yet. She's learning though. Hugs to you both.

Giselle thanks for the cook week. On the kibbutz we cook for 600+ people, can get very busy and sometimes stressful, in the end it all works out. We just finished the 7 day festival of Passover. Tomorrow, Sunday all the kids back to school after holidays. I’m back to work tomorrow after the holidays. Love all the food, looks so delicious. You are an excellent cook. Love the music in the background. Love how you did the count down to the video, so amazing. All your video are amazing. We still have very hot days last week it was 45 degrees. The good thing is this week it’s going to be cooler. Thanks for the video always make my week start on a high.

Who gets to chose what's on the menu? How do you grocery shop for the whole community? How often? And is there a set budget for food/groceries? Maybe you could do a grocery haul for the whole community video (if possible).
Also, how do your community members feel about you filming and sharing your life on the colony?

I am interested in that too. Some (make that most) of the other members of the colony obviously like to avoid being filmed. Though I hope that Giselle's vlog will bring better understanding to the wider world. I have read there is some hostility to the Hutterite Colonies because of how they finance things, yet I also have read that farming productivity is also very high, basically Hutterites produce a lot of food for Canada. I presume they have very little crime, no poverty, no drug problems, no unemployment etc etc. Maybe the world has a lot to learn from this way of life.

Where are all these folks comin' from?
I see long houses that make the place look like a small college campus
Every now and then I see a scatterin' here and there of ya
but notin ever seems close to 120
I'd imagine with that many feet I'd see a bit more tracks in the snow
Must have all come about after the snow melt
I suppose they could have popped up with the flowers...
I guess that makes sense by the looks of yer kitchen
I'd imagine that would make things come out even
    anyway ...
thats a whole lot of to keep clean and watered
ya must be sitting on a quite an aquifer...

The hymns over the vlogs are everything. Makes me feel in one Spirit with the brethren. Blessings &. Maranatha 🕊
"Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
*Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.* " 1 Peter 5:9
P.S: I was raised in Alsace, North East of France near the Germany border. A lot of the dishes, words, lifestyle etc remind me of there, the culture and dialect.
The protestant movement and persecution also took place there historically.

Hey Giselle! Thanks for another lovely vlog :) I had a rough week and am so happy to finally relax with a cup of coffee and watch your wholesome content :)) I have followed your TH-cam journey for a few months now and I was wondering (of course only if you want to relpy and address this! Please never feel obligated!) if you could talk about how your community includes people with disabilities or handicaps into your daily lifes, church, et cetera? Vielen Dank, have a lovely weekend! God bless - Katharina

I know making an extra vlog around the Easter treats would be a lot of extra work, so what were the treats? I love how you get goodies a few times a year. Also, who decides what to buy? I have always wondered that.

Your food all looks so delicious! I never heard of Sauerkraut salad , I’d love to taste it . I’m curious but feel rude to ask , so please don’t feel pressured. You seem a lot further in the faith at 24 then I was at 17 when I was baptized. We (I) got baptized around 17-18 , and became part of the church which meant following all the rules and taking part in communion twice a year . So I’m curious if your baptism would be all rolled into church membership ?like ours was in the Old Order Menn . And still is where we attend a more liberal Mennonite now . But in the Old Order the focus was much more on becoming a member and following the rules then it was on a heart change . Of course I can’t speak for everyone but for myself .
