While my practical side tells me the stainless Python's finish is a bit more durable, I have always been a sucker for a nicely blued revolver and to me, the Python is at the top of that list! What a beautiful work of art and thank you for bringing it to us kind sir.

That beautiful Colt blueing. A Python looks great regardless. I hope Colt according to Wilson Combat had issues with the rear sight screw not staying seated and recommending their Python rear sight that they felt was a quality replacement. So when I purchased my Python I ordered a complete set a front gold bead and a Wilson Combat rear sight which looks identical to stock but supposedly fixing the issue with the screw. Nice gun indeed I also purchased a set of Altamont Super Rosewood with snake scale checkering and rampant Colt inlays. I don't think all this is necessary to have a beautiful gun but I enjoy it. Well, I'm not going to get "all shook up" just yet. I hope colt doesn't fuck up the first batch, like they did in 2020 AND I hope they went to Bill Wilson and used his rear sights. It's an f'n shame that after spending $1500 we have to spend another $100+ for a rear sight that fits like it should have....IN THE FIRST PLACE!!
I agree, I need to calm down. I am still pissed my 1400$ python needs a rear sight. If Colt cared about customer service they would fix it for free. I'm just gonna lock tight my rear sight wilson sight is expensive.
Yea I bought the 2020 python the week it was released and was incredibly disappointed in it. The cylinder had a ton of end shake, rear sight was loose as hell and worst of all the crowning had several dents on it.
I like blued guns over stainless. Still struggling with the 1499 price tag though. Could I afford it? Yes. Do I think it's worth it? Still up for debate.

I handled a similar Python at my local leathersmith's shop in South Idaho being fitted for a custom holster. I respected that it wasn't mine and controlled my drooling. Nice video.
I have had several vintage Python's back in the day and just bought a new six inch blued. This 2024 gun is the prettiest python ive ever seen.It is simply stunning to look at. I hope Colt will make a blued 8 incher soon. If not I will be getting a blued 4 inch

Totally agree. Colt should've kept the number of vents in the rib at two and kept it consistent with the stainless model. The comment about it looking like a Rossi is right on! If you want three vents, get the classic 6-inch barrel.

Picked mine up a week ago. I love it the trigger is nice and smooth. The rear sights work fine for me. The three vents don't bother me at all,however colt may go to two,in order to satisfy customers. I have always wanted a python.
I like it but not a fan of the 3 vent slots on a 4 inch . It makes it look like a Taurus in my opinion. It makes it look too busy or cluttered. Please ask Colt at shot show why they changed this and bring back the 2 vents .
I brought home a new blue Python yesterday. For $1600.00 I got a sticky cylinder release and a seven pound single action trigger pull. Yippee. All the same extras I got with a new Anaconda last year.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this 4.25” Blue Python. I was so excited I was blind and didn’t notice Colt added a third vent. Once it was pointed out I looked at it again more carefully and unfortunately I was out. I don’t like the look of a third vent on the 4.25” and it was a deal breaker for me. I hope Colt will put it back to the was it was with 2 vents. Once they come out with the other barrel lengths I’ll look a little more carefully.

First , unless this is a carbon steel gun, the bluing is not traditional blueing, but electroplated blue on a polished stainless revolver. Have they fixed the sights that were shooting loose?
My local dealer said they will have one for me in the next week or so! I am excited to get a blued one. I have had several of the new stainless Pythons and they are cool but the blued one is what I really have wanted to own!
I wouldn't trade my 1974 Baby blue for 2 2024's she has been loved. 👌 some folks like pachmayr grips. I must say; they are comfortable for long sessions.
True. Ive studied Metallurgy extensively in my blacksmithing career. It doesnt mattet how advanced Stainless Steels get. Good old fashioned Carbon Steel is just plain tougher..and I know the Modern Carbon Steels have also been advanced and improved. Carbon all the way.
About time. Now we have to get Ford, GMC etc....to go back and put their V6 and V8 engines back in their cars and trucks. I don't know on why all these companies just don't listen to their customers.
So glad to see them doing this! But I'm having a tough time looking at three vents on a 4.25" bbl. Enough so, that I'd probably get the 6" with three, but I really prefer the balance of 4" .357's over 6". Not sure why they did that. Looks like somebody's "Copy" of a Python.
I like the fact that Colt has made some changes not only functionally, but aesthetically. I feel they have stayed true to the original “look” but made it its own version without creating a direct copy of the originals. In my opinion, this maintains the value of the originals. I feel had they made a direct knock off, it would de-value those collectables. Again, this is just my opinion, and I know everyone else probably has different feelings about the new look. But, I’m kind of digging the subtle changes.
Just got one. The cylinder release on mine drags and feels like serrated metal against serrated metal. Not smooth AT ALL. The number of vents some people complain about is funny. The vent slots are only esthetic. They don’t vent gasses.
Could you ask Colt to make Python Red Dot friendly? Love the trigger, but with my eyes, it just takes too long to find the iron sight. I want to put Red Dot, but since Python is not drilled and tapped, there is only one tiny screw hole for the rear sight elevation.

Beautiful gun! I have 7 of the various Pythons and Anaconda including a blued 4 1/4” Python. Great guns but not one checks under a 5lb trigger pull single action. Hard to believe yours is a 3lb pull. Not calling you a liar mind you, it’s just hard to believe.
Did they ditch the California drop safety notch, aka positive sear that ruined the single action pull? The 20-22 pythons the hammer would continue to rotate when pulled in single action. Terrible feel and heavy.
Looks like they kept the same crappy rear sight of the stainless model, so I'll pass until they fix that issue. Lipsey's is showing both a 4.25" and 6" model with a MSRP of $1359 each.
@@colinj5291 I owned an original Python in the 1980s. It was a delicate revolver with a gorgeous blue job and excellent Elliason rear sights. There is no reason for Colt not to offer these sights as an option. It would be cheaper than replacing the crappy rear sight with an aftermarket sight.

It's off-putting to me. The 4' (now 4.25") have always had two, the 6" ers always had three and the 8's always had 4. And yet the 3" only has 1.

That is what the Coral Springs, Fla. police carried when I was a kid in the 70s.

It is very close to Royal Blue. I would advise to take a look at one in person. They are beautiful.
Hopefully CZ has ironed out their QC. Some early releases of the snake guns were experiencing timing issues.
No problems with the new Pythons after the first few that had to be corrected.

Looks like they kept the same crappy rear sight of the stainless model, so I'll pass until they fix that issue. Lipsey's is showing both a 4.25" and 6" model with a MSRP of $1359 each.

@@colinj5291 I owned an original Python in the 1980s. It was a delicate revolver with a gorgeous blue job and excellent Elliason rear sights. There is no reason for Colt not to offer these sights as an option. It would be cheaper than replacing the crappy rear sight with an aftermarket sight.

I believe I like the blued looks a bit understated, which I prefer.
