    I hit it last night against a higher younger belt and was surprised how stuck they were and how dominant the position is! Thanks coach tom from Brisbane 🤙

    I first tried this the other day when this vid first went up.
    It certainly works to slow people down - that is, I managed to stop a number of the larger guys who usually have very little trouble flipping me around the mat.
    Unfortunately - having only watched the video a few hours earlier - I couldn't remember the whole sequence, so usually stopped after I'd clamped their leg and neck. Thus, they would *eventually* free themselves.
    The next mission is to attempt the whole sequence before they can free themselves....

      Keep up the good work and the cradle will be your weapon to use! Catching it is technically the hardest part I think, keep it up! (-: Coach Tom Davey

      My go-to move is pulling them flat on their back for knee-on-chest compression. Even if they don't tap you are making them so miserable that they'll be more than glad to let you pass to mount.
      Taking the back is a good option as well.

    Excellent video! The cradle has been my secret weapon in bjj and now judo. Shrimping basically puts you into a cradle position. Never knew this particular transition before. I will definitely give it a try.

    In BJJ a common response is to clamp the legs on the arm, push the head and bring the leg around the head/neck into a leg triangle choke

    I used the very first grip portion of this to pass from half guard to side control in a recent competition. An old high school wrestler showed it to me funny enough, however he didn't show me the complete move you've just done so I think it will be cool to show him this pass, I'm sure he will like it.

    I have just question about the cradle, if you have their head and leg - in a cradle - and they come on top of you, is that a problem? Sometimes i feel i might lose my base and dont want them coming on top of me, ive googled cradle from bottom and cant find anything so im wondering if i should be worried at all about it if i can just sweep them back?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should not end up on bottom but if your did it is not hard to put them back on the bottom. Happy cradling (-: Coach Tom Davey

      Roll through towards their head to maintain top control. In jiu jitsu you have all day to work there but in wrestling you can't fight there long being on your back.
